Finally! X-12 prototype video
Finally got some time off of work to sit down and play with some settings. Made a video and found that my voltage drop was way worse than I thought after I got everything running. So, bought a bigger battery and did some more wiring. Much better! Now I don't drop below 13v at high idle (1k). On the low notes before I would drop down in the 10's. Scary stuff. Anyway, made a new video over the weekend and after fits of rage doing video edits, I got it uploaded. Let me know what you think.

91 Turbo Civic, SounDigital 16KD, 4 15 BTL N2s Walled
Internet explorer? What is this the 90's? Lol Those impact screwdrivers work pretty well. Be sure you use the right size bit or it will strip it in a hurry. AMHIK

SA8 D2 or D4
I think you will be happy with that. All you need now is a proper box.

Team IAK IronMan Explorer
That is the same terminals I use. If you buy them individually pay attention to what you buy because the pos and neg terminals are different size. Also I replaced the wing nut with a real nut. You can use the Mil spec terminals as well. Basically the same thing with a side stud and it's a little longer. You just have to pay attention to the ring terminal size. Depending on what you buy they may be a little too big in diameter to use.

Sundown : New 2012 Stuff
I have the x-12 prototype and I love it! What about the shallow 6.5 components? I've been anxious to see them.

my box wont hit anything real low help needed
The Brutus has a subsonic filter. Make sure that isn't cranked all the way up to 35hz

SA8 D2 or D4
It would depend on what amp you are using as to what coil would work best.

SA-8 sealed?
I thought that was for the E8. I stand corrected on that. Either way, I still stand behind all the statements of going ported.

SA8 D2 or D4
If you are looking for a decent budget amp you may look at Audiopipe. That Pioneer is a little underpowered for that sub. Personally I'd get a d4 and run in parallel at 2 ohm. Then later down the road if you want to add on you can buy a second one and wire down to 1 ohm. Would also look at buying an amp that is 1 ohm stable.

SA-8 enclosure question
1.2 cft is the smallest recommended. You may be able to get away with 1.0 cft but not sure how they would do in that small of an enclosure. Closer to 1.5 cft would be ideal. You may also consider external aero porting if you need a small box and port thru the rear. How much power are you going to be running?

ShiZZZoN's Build #2 The Epicness of 2011-2024
Pretty sweet build going on. I'm pretty close to you if you need any help. I'm fairly handy with woodworking and electronics, altho I'm a little slow.

SA-8 sealed?
.5cft I agree with Ryan tho. I listened to mine in a small sealed box once and it wasn't that great. You would be better off with the e8 for sealed. It isn't terrible until you hear the difference with it ported.

Just got my sub back from PSI short air movement
Is this your homework Larry? Looks pretty nasty

My 8" Box Sundown E8v2
Looks nice but that enclosure won't work well either. The port area is way too small. You have a little over 7 sqin. You need atleast twice that. I wouldn't go smaller than a 2" wide port. Of course that changes tuning and displacement.

Box for SA-8 in a Lada Niva
I would disagree. The sa8 has 16mm xmax and I think the port is ok. I do agree it needs to be changed to 3 common walls on the calculator.

I used a slot port. Find the dimensions you want and I can help you.

That looks nice Alton! I can't tell on my phone is that paint?

My 8" Box Sundown E8v2
You could extend the interior port some but it would reduce the net cft a bit. Only other thing you could do is extend the port externally as well. It would definitely improve the sound. Tuned that high it would almost be better sealed.

Box for SA-8 in a Lada Niva
The important thing with sa8's is port area. It has a lot of xmax and likes quite a bit of port. I had mine in a .63 cft tuned at 36hz and liked the sound.

My 8" Box Sundown E8v2
Wow that is a tiny box. I did the math and came up with .89 cft gross. Not sure what your port size and displacement is to figure net. What coils do you have?

X-12 prototype box built and installed
Last that I know is Jacob was waiting on baskets to be tooled. They are going to use the X basket like the monster X-8 they were building. It was supposed to come out this year, but with so many projects going on I'm not sure where it ranks in the priority. On another note, I did make a quick vid after I installed my stinger voltmeter. I have a much larger voltage drop than I thought. I picked up a Diehard Platinum P1 for underhood and working on some more grounding. Been busy at work and cold to boot. I currently have the sub back port to the side (sounded the best on my other sub). I wanted to play around with placement and tried sub up. Not going to happen. I had to adjust the measurements slightly from the original design and had forgotten that my original design would just fit laying on its back. Since I added the second baffle on top it is about 1/2" too wide The only reason I care is because the old box had about 8" clearance to the lift gate and this one is closer to 4". I don't know if that is better, worse, or indifferent. Will update more later.

(2) SUNDOWN SA 8s ENCLOUSER BUILD POOR RESULTS
That's the same tuning I came up with but my cft was different? From my playing around with the sa8 I found the 35hz range to work well. From here you need to measure how much space you have for the enclosure before coming up with another design.

(2) SUNDOWN SA 8s ENCLOUSER BUILD POOR RESULTS
Ok if you used the re calculator I know what it looks like. Also that calculator is a little off. What amp and power are you running? How do you have the subs wired? Also hoe do you have a 12" tall port when the enclosure is only 12" tall?

(2) SUNDOWN SA 8s ENCLOUSER BUILD POOR RESULTS
If I understand your design, I did some math. A 9" port length would be 1.99cf and 55hz tune. Not surprised that didn't sound very good. Second port length of 28" would work out to be 1.59cf and 41hz tune. A little high, but had to sound better than the first. On my sa-8 enclosure I had a 36hz tune and it had pretty good low end extension. Either your design is a little different than I picture or your math is a little off. Not sure what amp you are using, but you might want to double check that the SSF filter isn't turned up too high as well. If you can't get a picture of your box, if you could find one that looks similar that would help.
