BL 10"
I am thinking of putting my BL 10" in my 12" fiberglass box. I want to cut a new baffel to drop into the 12" cut out for the BL to mount to. I am wondering if I will damage the sub being the box is bigger then recommended, I think FI recommends 1.2 max, I dont know how much the box will be after displacement. I am going to be powering it off a RE 12.1 1200 watts rms. What would you guys suggest? I am contemplating doing this because my 1.2 cuft box is flipping over when I mount the sub inverted. It wont drop into the cutout because the basket and terminals are just touching, also, the fiberglass box is MUCH lighter than my MDF box. Let me know what you guys think.

1 more SSD or switch to q?
I would port it before shelling out anymore money for a new sub. There is a signifcant difference between ported and sealed.

Ascendant Audio
I asked a similar question, I think the Q lines are the closest things to the Ava, the Havoc is more along the lines of the BL, I think.

Ascendant Audio
how do you like the bl compared to the ava.? i have an ava. and i am looking to get something similar for the gf's car. I loved my Ava, I only got rid of it because I couldnt find a second one to do a dual install also it was making my ears ring ported, I had the Ava tuned too high, I think around 38, it was VERY loud, I decided (after having severe ringing in my ears for 3 days) to down grade to 2 10" FI BL's. I have not got my second BL 10 but I love my single BL 10 just as much as I did the Ava 15. Scott is 100% right though, both subs are completly different and do different things. I am still amazed that my little 10" BL weights almost as much as my Ava did , you will not be disapointed with the BL at all!

Atlases and avas
I thought that everything was pretty much gone, but I found a small batch of some Avalanche and Atlas subs upstairs here at the shop. I will throw them up on the website on Monday. I think we've got 5 Avalanche 15's, a pair of Atlas 12's and maybe one or two Atlas 15's. I will know by Monday... I don't really want to sell them, but I think that they would be better served in somebody's car or home than me hording them in storage. Chad Kuypers Ascendant Audio DAMN, I can remember sweating Dale about getting a second Ava 15", I asked him if you guys had any b stocks or anything! I ended up not being able to get a second Ava, I had my dual 15" box built and ready, just needed the second sub. After months of not being able to find another one used, I sold my Ava and moved on to another sub, I really miss that sub , Chad, how much are you going to sell them for? I still have my box for 2 15's sitting in the garage

Ascendant Audio's New Home!
I love AA's products and was a proud owner of an Ava 15", I just hope they stick around on the forums and things dont turn out the way they did on their last forum. Somebody mentioned FI's website, I never had a problem with it, I thought it was great??

Ascendant Audio
Had no idea this would turn into a boner discussion , As an owner of both AA products and Fi products, I have a boner for both..... apparently? I actually sold my Avalanche 15" in favour of a Fi BL, I do like the BL, but I dont think it gives me a boner per se. Its a great product at a great price. But no boner here.

Soundstream recone
I asked this question about my Soundstream T2 10". Johnny, are you sure your T4 is a D2? They only come in D1. The new 2007 T5's come in D2 I believe.

Under powering 2 BL 10's
Hello everyone, I am trying to decide if I should just get an amp that will do full power at 2 ohms or order a D1 BL 10 and a recone for my BL 10 with the universal option. My current amp is 1 ohm stable, it "Can" run at .5 but only if my electrical system can support it, which it cant because its all stock. So, on to the real question, if I just order another BL 10 D2 and run my eD 9.1 at 2 ohms for 900 to 1000 watts rms, will my BL's still sound decent with only 500 watts rms. I know underpowering will not hurt a sub unless you clip, I know the recommended rms for the BL is 1000 rms, I know I should have considered all of this BEFORE I ordered my BL in D2. But I had planned on getting an amp that is stable at 2 ohms and wont kill my stock alt, I am hoping I can find something that will do at least 2000 watts at 2 ohms. But in the meantime, until I can work up the money for the new amp, I should be cool underpowering them right? I already have 1 BL 10, I am planning on ordering the 2nd hopefully this Friday!, I had my box built for the 2 BL's, it was built custom for 2 BL 10's 2cuft tuned to 35hz. I cant run the single BL in my new box though because its a common chamber so the second cutout would act as a big port! Anyway, feel free to leave your opinon or comments, Nick/Scott/Shawn, let me know what you suggest.

Recone question
I noticed alot of people are having FI recone their other brand name subs, I am wondering if this could be done to one of mine I have sitting around. I have a Soundstream T2 Tarantula 10" DVC 1 ohm 900 watts rms. It does have 3" coils, can FI recone this? If so, how would this change the sub from its original configuration, or how would it change the T/S specs of the sub if at all? I have a 10" BL right now, with only the daily and universal options, could FI recone the T2 so it could run with the BL in the same enclosure? I am posting here as it has been stated that FI is QUITE busy, so if anyone can answer this question or give an opinion I would appreciate it Here is a pic of the sub in question: And another:

Do BL's get low?
I just recently traded off my Ava 15", I replaced it with a single 10" BL. In a 1.2 cuft ported 35hz box, its VERY low, and its only a 10" sub! It sounds very similar to my Ava, only a little less loud being only a 10". Honestly, my BL 10 sounds louder than some 12" subs I have heard. The BL is getting the same RMS that the Ava did, 1200 rms from a 9.1. Its plenty low, I believe if you get a BL 15" and give it the same power you were giving your Ava, you will be very please!!

Minimum and maximum power
I'm wondering what max minimum rms wattage is. Meaning, what is the minimum rms suggested for the BL lines. They are rated at 1000 watts rms with no options. Will I be alright if I only give them 500 watts rms? I ask because I dont have a new amp yet and was planning on getting my subs first. I just got one BL 10" and my dual 10" ported box is in the mail on its way. I was planning on running 2 BL 10's off my 9.1 until I can get a bigger amp, something that will do 2000 watts at 2 ohms. I am eyeing a DEI 2400D thats for sale on another forum. I am wondering if it will kill my alt though, if 2400 watts wont kill my stock 2004 Altima's alt, I could just get another 9.1? So basicly, can you expect decent sound from the BL lines if you under power them? I understand I should buy subs according to my power requirements, but I planned on upgrading my amp AFTER I got the 2 BL's. So I would be underpowering until I can get monies for the new amp.

BL 10"
Well to begin, I will report on my expierence with FI customer service! I ordered through the site and paid with my paypal account, the site was very easy to understand and use! Once I ordered, I began harrassing Scott with all kinds of annoying questions. Scott answered everything I asked as best as he could, without complaint! I even sweated Ndmstang a few times, he too was helpfull and understanding. So all in all customer service was top notch. Tracking was so so, UPS sucks in my honest opinion, that has nothing to do with FI at all though! They rarely updated the info for tracking, it always looked as if my sub was just sitting around. I am biased though because I love DHL, UPS also delivered my sub to the wrong house! A neighbor actually dropped it off. So, once I get the sub in the house, I open it up, it was packaged VERY securely! Sub was in great shape even though the box had a big boot print on it :| . UPS????? So, I begin to drool over the sub, I closely inspect it for imperfections for about 30 min, there were none! Build quality was 100%, I am amazed at the stiffness of the spider, never felt one that stiff, cone barely moves when touched. I even remove the rubber gasket, everything looks fine underneath, I am feeling very impressed at this point. So I move on to installing it in my car, powered from my 9.1 at 1 ohm 1200 watts rms, 1.2 cuft tuned at 35hz. I encounter a problem dropping the sub in my box, the basket is to big for the cutout, so I invert it, its still a very tite fit but it works out. My box has a recessed baffel and the BL is a little to big to fit into the recession. But I get it in, encounter another problem screwing it down, not the subs fault, I work around it and get the sub mounted. I power it up, encounter another problem, air is leaking through the screw holes due to me not using proper screws to invert mount a sub. I ghetto rig it by taping over all the screw holes, sub begins to play low notes as it should. NOW, I am afraid to really let the sub "Wang" so I am being gentle (break in??), I turn the volume up only to 15 out of 60,(I never take it past 35), this sub sounds like a 12! in fact, I had my e12K in there just before I put the BL in, this thing sounds 10 times better/lower than the 12. So, I get brave, and decide to turn it up to 20, I begin to hear a difference from all the other subs I have ever had, this is no ordinary 10" sub, at least to me. It is sounds almost as low as my 15" Ava did, but its a 10" sub??? thats not even broke in yet??? I can already tell I am going to love this sub, I have not had it a full day yet, AND, my new box is supposed to be here in a few days, it was built specifically for 2 10" FI BL's so I have no doubt it will drop right in. I cannot wait to get another BL and a bigger amp, to say I am happy with this sub is an understatement, and I can only assume I will be even happier once its broken in. This review is far from over, I will update once I get my new box and the sub is fully broke in. My new box has seperate chambers so I will just run the one BL in it until I can send off money for a second! I am really glad a picked FI over the other big name companies I was contemplating buying my next set of subs from. To be continued.........

Minimum and maximum power
I am wondering what the max minimum rms wattage for the BL line is. How would they do on 500 watts?? Not planning on giving mine that much, but once I get a second I may have to run them at 2 ohms for 900 to 1000 watts total until I get a more powerfull amp!

Tracking Question
What does rescheduled to 3/7/2007 mean? Is that when I can expect it. UPS is showing my sub as rescheduled to 3/7/2007.
