  1. Im pretty excited to see how these turn out!
  2. Rebuilding engines and rebuilding subs are two things im pretty good at... and they are nothing alike
  3. Takin' notes, notes, and more notes... =D
  4. Made in the usa means exactly that... it was assembled in usa, but most companies do buy their soft parts from another country (I.e. China, Japan, etc.)
  5. That is very true, do you know anyone off the top of your head? Or should I create a post in the enclosure thread?
  6. I think im going to save and get 2 IA death penalty 12's, and make a box that is a somewhat of a blowthrough through the ski hole... hefty price, but im sure it will be worth it
  7. My old setup was sub up, port back, and it seemed to be pretty loud and the port was directed towards the ski hole, do you think I could get a better result from replacing the rear deck?
  8. So, i prefer a single sub setup, and I plan on not using my trunk for anything else, I wouldn't mind doing a port through the top deck, but im not sure how I would do that... im wanting a 15', just not sure how to do it, any advice for a port through the rear deck?
  9. Well there is a ski hole that I removed the sheet metal, and I got a very noticeable increase by doing that, but still im willing to do more to get as high of numbers as possible.
  10. Its a 2000 328I (Check signature)
  11. My goal is indeed spl, I enjoy loud clean music, but there is a fine line. Ultimately, I want a sub that can be really loud and hit hard at high volumes, but sound clean at lower volumes, I plan on going to comps and competing, but I also want a good daily driver... I haven't yet sat in a system that hurts my ears, even a 153.2 db didn't hurt, I want something that will be loud. But achieving over 150 in a trunk with a single sub without folding down seats is nearly impossible
  12. I just sold my SA-12, and i'm currently looking for a new sub, I have a couple ideas. I want a 12' or a 15', i've been looking at several 15's, and i have about $600 to spend on it, i was powering my SA-12 with a Hifonics BRZ2100.1D. I want my next sub to be able to take that with ease. I've been looking at an Fi: BTL N2, Xcon 15' or 12', IA Death Penalty 12' or 15', or maybe even a warden 12' or 15'. I'm really just looking for a sub that will hit harder than my SA-12, its in the trunk of a hemetically sealed bmw, so it has to be loud in order for the sound to carry to the cabin because 80% of the sound stays inside of the trunk point is, I'm willing and open to all suggestions. Thanks in advance for replies! Jake.
  13. Tuned in for more info...
  14. I do know quite a bit about car audio. But when it comes to speakers and the stats and specs and details... Im pretty much lost... I spend most of my time reading this forum throughout my day thanks to the new mobile version.... but im still kind of lost, however if I did/could hang with jake for a day, I would not pass it up, that's for sure. But who knows... maybe it will happen sooner than I expect.
  15. All Brutus's are 2006 CEA Compliant which means they have are rated for "true power" meaning if you get the 1200.1D then it will put out at least 1200 wrms @ 1 ohm. The Brutus' are also 1 ohm stable and you will only get 600 wrms @ 2 ohms. My friend owns a 1200.1D brutus and he was powering 2 JBL P1224 Series with it and they hit really hard, he is upgrading to either 2 SA-8's or a SA-15. I have the 2100.1D brutus powering 1 SA-12 and it slams. The point i'm getting at is Hifonics are known for their amplifiers, they are very well built amps. And for the price/watt, you cant really complain.
  16. I could only imagine actually hanging at the warehouse for a day.... that's my version of heaven.
  17. Not sure if your aware at all... But on my DroidX, everytime I click on a forum, it always jumps to the last page first... kind of annoying minor bug though, otherwise i'm very impressed. Great work and keep it up
  18. I am overpowering my sa-12 d2 and im building a 1.75 ft^3 and I will probably fill it with polyfill too, I am afterall pushing 2100 rms at it though.
  19. I would also say that the foam on the top isn't doing anything to prevent sound, if any its very little, I also have been having some problems and I will try to get some pictures on in a day or so, just been really busy.
  20. With my sa-12 that happens frequently, my vehicle doesn't have that plastic, is their maybe a way to remove it? And if you remove the carpet from the trunk, is there a perforated area in the middle?
  21. I prefer sportier cars or sedans, the only sporty wagon I can think of is a volvo gti/r32
  22. I will also take some pictures of mine and post it up here tomorrow, I will take pictures of everything im talking about. Hopefully this will help.
  23. That is stupid. He should know, it will obviously produce serveral decibels. Duh. Over 9000? What?!? 9000?!?! There's no way that can be right!
  24. Won't be an extra amp, but very well may be pre-processed and knocking the signal out. Most likely though you are just missing the cabin gain from the SUV and experiencing the loss in the BMW. Firing direction in that car makes a HUGE difference. IE, you probably need to build a box specific for it depending on what yours is doing now. I take it you also don't have the fold down seat option, that was a life saver in my last 3. I dont have the that option, but I do know that just by removing the foam and sheet metal from the fold down armrest, made the biggest difference in the world.
