  1. I'm not worried about engine noises, I got a diesel, its already loud. Lol. Stock form, its not to bad, Once I switch tunes, the injectors change tune and get quiet loud. And Kyle, I'll email you soon. I like the hairpin stator ideal, even though I don't know much about them. Most of the info I can find is on DC's website. I'm not extremely worried about idle output, well, depinds on the cost VS one with better output. I plan on running at least two alts, as it was a factory option. My truck doesn't have it, but my dad has the exact same truck and his does. Soooo I'm going to steal his. I might even add a third if I need it, I'm pretty sure I found a spot to put it with a homemade bracket. Also, as far as MPG with my truck, I hear I can haul the weight of my truck and suppose to get the same fuel mileage. Keyword "suppose". I haven't tested it but a buddy of mine said he has and said its pretty close. 18mpg normal and 15mpg with around 9k of a trailer and car pulling behind it. *This was mostly highway driving easy and 70mph.
  2. I know belt size is one limiting factor. Like a 4 grove can't handle as much as a 8 grove before it slips.
  3. It is memorial weekend... And then they will be slammed when they open back up... Either way, the OP is aware of DC's customer service Yeah, like really? I'm not in no hurry to buy anything, if I was, I would of called. Or Emailed for that matter. I made this thread so whenever they could reply, that's fine. As far as CS goes, its not going to stop me from buying from them yet. I understand stuff happends in these types of industries. I haven't seen any real major turn offs, especially for the product the build. I've also seen them do a lot extra for there costumers they didn't have to do. So, if anybodies got a problem with DC, fine, but no need to think out loud and post in my thread. I could understand if somebody had a huge problem with what I'm asking about and warning me. But I haven't seen that yet.
  4. Delayed? Lol. I just made this thread yesterday. Its cool man. Thanks for the reply. So far, I've asked two questions in this section and always had fast replies. How do I find out about pricing? Do I need to Email? Or could I get a PM? I don't see where I would need to call or anything as I'm just "window" shopping. I might even to talk it over eventually but its to soon for that. Also, what casing would the 390XP and the 380HP be? Wuld it be the GM T mount? Or one like the 270XP 6g T mount?
  5. I'm in research mode at the moment. Just gathering infomation. It will be a little while before I buy anything.
  6. I keep hearing about 320s, 380s, and 390s. Even seen people have them installed. But I can't find any real info on them. Any possible way to get info on the 300+ amp Alternators y'all have? I have a 01 F-250 with 7.3, do you have any big ones to fit it?
  7. A lot of things. A good bit of threads are around here with stuff Sundown is currectly working on. Jake seems to let everybody know what's going on when he's ready, so if he hasn't posted it yet, there is probably a reason.
  8. I didn't even know they made components. How much do these Retail for or MAP?
  9. Still, good service. Definitely when it was built to order.
  10. I hope Jake didn't cover it. That's user error, and that's not covered.
  11. I've been researching a good bit on alts lately, one major plus I like about DC is they cast and machine their own cases. As some factory designs have flaws when upgrading to put out more power, DC takes care of this. Also, they use a different Stator for there XP line, which I've looked around and nobody uses them unless its what your factory alt has.(I assume). I just wish they would improve in a few areas of their business. I know they can't control some of it, but I think they lose a good bit of car audio business cause of it. Edit- I didn't read page 2 before I posted this. I didn't pay any attention that there was another page, so that's why it might seem out of place. But on a side note, free upgrade FTW.
  12. Edouble- I've listen to that album, its pretty good. Only thing I don't like about Breaking Benjamin is, most of their songs sound similar. Not a totally bad thing, because it makes them all good. My favorite is, Stone Sour- Audio Secrecy. I'm on a phone or I'd link a picture. I listened to this album everyday for 3 months, still do from time to time. One of the better Rock albums that's came out recently IMO. Old School Album I could listen to over and over is Pink Floyd- The Wall.
  13. "i have them dumbed down to 1 ohm so that i wouldn't destroy the amp in my explorer( no air flow)" WTF?! Dumbed down? Damn you mean to tell me all this time I had no idea you could dumb down impedance. I wonder if you can smart up it too?
  14. Bahahahahaha. The owner probably thinks it sounds good too.
  15. My anology wasn't perfect but it got the point across. Who said it has the same results? Just because voltage change doesn't mean its the same. This way is causing the Alt to actually produce current without needing it. I'm not sure exactly how the MLA works, but nobody can say its the same without really knowing. But I could see a problem with batteries becoming over charged with this way. I'm not downing this way, or praising MLA. Just saying.
  16. It can make noises -- also if the driver relies on the pole vent for air cooling it can hinder thermal performance. Could it cause the sub not to perform like it should? I recently put my 12 Fi Q in a 1cuft net sealed box. Well, let's just say I was surprised in how terrible it sounded, and the output. I've had it in a small sealed box before, but inverted. Sounded fine, but my JL w1v2(designed for small sealed boxes) on less power in the same box was better all around. I was just curious if that would effect the SQ and performance. I know I need more power, a Q doesn't start shining until at least 1000RMS. I usually like 1500+. Just because that's how I roll. I've had upwards of 2k on it before. Mechanically it didn't like that much power. 60hz it would play full excursion.
  17. I've seen inside pictures of the MLA when they first came out. I'm sure if you searched you could find some.
  18. Just because it could serve the same purpose doesn't meant its the same. And I'm surprised anybody would think that. Take cheap Pyle sub, and a Fi BTL, sure they serve the same purpose, but does that mean they are the same? Sure, the Pyle is $450 dollars cheaper, so why in the world would anybody buy a BTL if they do the exact same thing...(Reproduce bass).
  19. What's the drawbacks of having a vented pole driver, that's in a shallow box, where the backplate is 1/4in from the wood? I'll explain why I'm asking after I get a reply.
  20. I would say they are still very similar amps.
  21. Yeah, I'd like learn more about alternators myself. Sometimes it hard for me to just read info and understanding what it means without asking question. I usually like to break it down in what I got out of the info, then somebody correct me. But maybe somebody will come in here and give some details.
  22. I heard it a good +100ft behind him. I thought something that flappin on my truck. I would speed up and slow down, but it didn't change. Then it went away.(The guy would let off the accelerator). Then I realized it was coming from a car. I rode beside him for 15 minutes or more. He got mad and tried to "race" me I guess you could say. But he would floor it and it wouldn't move any. Then I would and jump way infront of him, he really didn't like that.
  23. Crunkjuice1. I kinda get what your saying, but I can't explain what I want to ask you about it. Basically your saying, the extra voltage didn't do you any good because under a load your voltage would go back to the original set point? Is that it? I've always wondered about people claiming to have voltage at 13.8, and have a .7 drop to 13.1 under a load. Then set their voltage to 14.5, and saying now after under a load they are at the same voltage they had before not under a load. Which made no sense to me, and didn't think it worked that way.
  24. Damn, 592? Which woofers is that? I went and figured up a SPL sub, and got 285. PM me if you want.
  25. Lol. Which company came preassembled? With it like that, leaves a lot more room for error. Definitely when the person hasn't reconed before. I've always wanted to do a video of how I recone. I know there are other videos out, but most are by people who recone A LOT or builds subs, and the way they do it is kind of different than what a normal person would. Plus I'm not sure if there is a video of how to the tinsels Fi/associate Use. Its kinda simple, once you know how. Plus it leaves less error for the people doing it. Its almost a art getting the old style tinsels the perfect length. To long would slap and break. And to short would break on over excursion.
