  1. BL is a little more geared towards a "normal" daily setup. The response curve is flatter overall with little more peak thatn the BTL around tuning. It is a little less efficient of a driver due to the smaller motor, but this is not to say that it wont be as loud or louder than the BTL up to a certain power level (max at probably 2kW). Both are designed to handle a fair amount of abuse, but the BTL steps things up a little more. My opinion on the sound quality of the subs is of no real value since I am somewhat biased. I think both sound far from "bad" like some SPL subs. In fact they seem to surprise most at how good they do sound. And a fully loaded BTL can be a monster on the bottom end too... which most dont believe until they hear it or better yet... feel it. Thanks, Scott
  2. Is it on the inside of the coil (the balck former portion of things)? Pics and I can do a little autopsy of it. Thanks, Scott
  3. Any word on this one? If everything mentioned above checks OK, let me know and we will get the sub in for inspection. Thanks, Scott
  4. Ill have to look around. I might have 1 or two from when we prototyped the sub, but it definitely isnt something I have stock on. Thanks, Scott
  5. Sent you an email for your info. I could change things around on it and machine the aluminum piece to help with thermal power handling. Changing spiders up a little can aid in mechanical as well. Whats your enclosure? And are you having issues as it is with 1200W to it? Thanks, Scott
  6. D@mn... thank you so much for the kind comments (the check is in the mail ) I really appreciate that and it definitely pushes us along knowing that we are doing something correct with Fi. Simply put, thanks to everyone that has helped make Fi and this forum what it is. I seemed to have started something... but everyone else helps make it a success. Thanks, Scott
  7. Normally 3-5 business days for recones. Please go ahead and drop a sheet of paper in the box with your name, address, phone, email, and what you want done to the sub (reconed to a D2 or whatever). On the outside make it attn:Scott as well. When it comes in and we take a look at it, Ill call you and confirm everything. Thanks, Scott

Thanks for the review. Glad its doing well. Let us know how it is doing long term as well and how (if it does to you) the sound changes with break in. Thanks, Scott
  9. BL as well. In most applications it will be a little louder than the BTL in that power range. It has a little more realistic daily driving TS params and will peak out a little more as well as loose the slightly saddle shaped response curve. The BTL is more at home with 2kW+. Thanks, Scott
  10. Yes, you can use it with the copper coils on the SSDs. With the SAZ-1500 I would definitely look to the loaded BL. That amp is rather stout and I would feel much more comfortable with it on a BL than an SSD (with an orignal power handling of 800W RMS). Thanks, Scott

Yes, it can mean that your port does take up as much space or more for VERY small low tuned enclosures. This can be a problem for some very high excursio 10s. But since this is for a BL18, Im assuming you will be around 6 cuft or larger... in which case, there really is no way of doing that one. With (2)6X6 ports and assuming 7.5 cuft of space based off of your drawing, your ports can be about 15-16" long to tune you to 35Hz. Or if you wanted to you could do a single 2.5" X 46.5" port the full width that is 17" long to tune you to 35 Hz as well. Thanks, Scott
  12. Changes were made to the sub for you. The tracking info is generated based off of the order, but the build list for the sub was upadted to reflect the lack of the extra heavy lead wire. Sub will ship out to you today. $5 will be refunded to you as well. Please let me know if I can help with anything else. Thanks, Scott
  13. lol... I just cleared my PMs and now its almost full again after 2 days. PMs arent always the best solution to get an answer out of me anyway. I tend to do emails>forums>PMs. Thanks, Scott
  14. That about sums things up. The Q has more linear volumetric displacement and test to like the deep stuff when pushed hard more than the BL would. The BL has more motor strength and suspension and tends to handle daily abuse and SPL better than the Q. But, there can be plenty of crossover between the two subs depending on application and enclosures. Thanks, Scott
  15. Spider packs vary at that point per series and sub size. The Q12 pack uses a mix of stiff and soft spiders while the Q15 is triple soft vs double soft as standard. I know in the past when using double soft, I have rated subs as high as 1600W with that setup... and had no real issues with it either. But, to be honest, people are buying cheaper power and starting with systems that are usualy 4th or 5th iteration setups that people were doing a few years back. With the starter system consisting of multiple amps, batts, alts, and subs yet the overall DAF hasnt really improved, I would rather do a little overkill on things vs running into more issues with peoples setups not being correct and the sub bearing the brunt of it. Thanks, Scott
  16. Its much easier not to dignify the cr@p with a response as I simply do not have time to play keyboard commando like other forum memebers do (this is not the only company/person that is currently employing this approach... I was pointed to another company doing the same thing earlier today). Does this type of tactic work? Im sure it does or they wouldnt continue it. But I think it is a little more akin to drunk toothless stinky ugly guys saying "Hey b!tch nice t!tties! Why dont you come over here and bl*w me?!?!?!??" For the hundred or thousand times it is said, it does probably work everyonce in a while. I just wonder what quality you get from that approach. And the same goes for Fi customers. I feel that the ones that are swayed by trash talking others products would probably end up being a PITA in the end anyway. Many have noticed that I am just as content in helping someone dial in the products they have and not making the sale or push towards Fi products. In the end, a happy customer will tell friends, and while I might not make the sale that day in helping them get what they are looking for out of something they might already have... I might later on, or simply from word of mouth after that. I feel that much like this forum, we have quality customers and people we come into contact with. Its not my goal to sway everyone, nor would I want to. Its just that those that do try the products are fairly happy and seem to become part of the Fi/SSA community and make things better on a whole. Fi will keep doing what we are doing and taking the laid back approach. Seems to be working fine so far Thanks, Scott
  17. Thanks for the review and nice comments. We definitely appreciate it and the business. Keep us posted for a longterm review as well. Thanks, Scott
  18. Should make for a nice setup. It will have an f3 of 36Hzand a .84 Qtc. This can be lowered some by using up to 2lbs of polyfill if needed, but as is, should make for a solid setup. While it wont stop as hard as the BL you have, it will be clean and detailed after break in. Thanks, Scott
  19. Man... I wasnt even going to go there. I dont want to give anyone any ideas. Yes, that is indeed bad...lol
  20. Ghetto vs what? Drilling a couple of holes through the box and fishing the lines through... then generously applying silicone or liquid nails inside to seal them up? Or, the wonderous "non-ghetto" terminal cups...lol I think it looks cool and is very functional. I have seen FAR more ghetto ways of doing things on forums... and no one really seems to cr@p on them... gotta love forums and all the "expert" opinions
  21. Port would be 13" long to tune it to 31Hz. Not a huge change in overall repsonse. It will move your peak from 49 to 43 Hz and move the f3 from 30 to 27Hz. Gains you a little on the bottom end. Not sure if it is really worth the work to redo it for an incremental gain. Are you wanting it to drop lower and deeper, more SPL, or? Thanks, Scott
  22. Yes... but even with a recone we can not impliment the full option. The top plates on a new motor with this option are machined for axial cooling channels. We can not retrofit this portion of things to an existing sub (cant machine a pre magentize and assembled motor). We can add the aluminum compression plug and the different spider pack though. Extra $25 for plug and spider change on top of normal recone price. To another question I think I missed answering... no, the 3 spiders are not the same as on the BL. Those are stiff spiders and we use soft ones on the Q. Thanks, Scott
  23. Payment received. Ill get this processed ASAP. Thanks, Scott

Having 3 cuft per sub will yield a little more efficiency and a slightly higher peak around tuning. But at the expense of some mechanical power handling. Larger enclosures have less of an air spring behind them and allow the sub to move a little more for a given power and frequency. We recommend 12-16 sqin of port per cuft used. Thanks, Scott
  25. Just dont stick your tongue to them and you are good to go Adds an industrial look to things and is VERY functional. I like it.
