  1. Finally got the enclosures finished and in the house. Each box is 10^3 @19Hz with a single 8" port and RL-P 15. Port fires up and subs are down firing. I'm about 50/50 HT and music, so I think the higher tune is a good balance. So far I've been VERY impressed and the subs are only getting 400watts each off a Hypex plate amp. Couldn't imagine what 800+ to each one would sound like. Music has punch, hits low, and gets plenty loud with excellent SQ. Has no trouble keeping up with 6 Klipsch Legends. Also got to demo the depth charge scene from U-571 tonight. Neighbor was over and his jaw hit the floor. Much louder than the 4 Tempests they replaced. GF said the whole house felt like it was going to fall apart. PERFECT!!!!! Only took a few pics during the build process as it was usually way late and I was just trying to get them done. Definitely an upgrade and was a fun project. Now it's time to sit back and enjoy some movies with my new twin beasts in the house.
  2. Plan on twice the drivers you'd normally use if going IB, or you probably won't have the output you desire. I had 4 15" Tempests IB for a while, but output wasn't enough. Sounded very accurate when playing music, but didn't have that "slam" that I like. Just got my 2 15" RL-P's in the house today. 10^3 @19Hz each and I'm quite happy so far.
  3. Box looks nice and I bet it's loud. How close is the port to the rear of the car? Seems very close and you might gain a little more if you could move the box forward a few inches...
  4. Yep I'd check for loose connections. Also alt could be dying on you...
  5. I'll be sure to take some pics of the build. Last few boxes I've done I didn't take any pics as I just needed them finished, so they could be picked up.
  6. Jacob...good to know. Thanks for the responses guys. Will be building the box this weekend and firing it up late next week I'm hoping.
  7. Going to be installing a HD315 that's dual 1.5ohm VC's. Getting it for a good price, otherwise if buying new I'd just have gotten a dual 2 ohm. I have a 200a alt, SVR batt up front, Deka Intimidator in back, BIG 3 in 1/0, amp wiring is 1/0, gain set with DMM. Is there anything else I need or need to know as I've never run an amp below 1ohm. It's a daily driver and 99% of the time I listen at moderate levels, meaning you can talk in the car with the stereo playing, but once in a while I plan on leaning on it pretty hard when playing music, NO burps, just cranking some tunes to unwind after work. What's considered safe: 5 minutes, 20 minutes, doesn't matter??? I just don't want to damage the amp, even though I have the warranty down to .5ohm, I'd like to never have to use it by doing things right in the first place. TIA....Mike
  8. Same here. Had 2 of them in 1.2^3 @40Hz getting 800watts and they sounded excellent and hit pretty hard. Solid little subs for sure.
  9. Can you do them each in a separate ported box? Might be easier to make that fit...
  10. I've done 2.5^3 @ 30Hz and am now doing 2.9^3 @32Hz. Virtually the same size box for either set up. I liked them at 30Hz and love them at 32Hz. I think you'll be very happy going ported...
  11. Any reason you're not grounding the batteries to the same spot?
  12. I put in a Deka a few months back and have been very happy with it. Had to send in my HO alt, so I put the stocker back on. NO dimming at all on a 2200watt system.
  13. Nick....just stick to your plan and you'll be happy. I'm one of the minority who enjoys rear fill, or sound enhancers as I call them. Stage is still up front, but gets louder and at times that's what I like. And NO I'm not spending a ton on a bigger amp/comps for the front. I'm VERY happy with what I have....
  14. I put a Deka Intimidator in the trunk a few months ago and have been very happy with it. G31...BIG battery.
  15. Might want to consider the Deka Intimidators also, group 31's...
  16. I have experience with an IB sub. 4 15" Tempests receiving 200watts each. For music it was INCREDIBLE: not heavy or bloated, just amazingly detailed and a pleasure to listen to. Unfortunately I'm more like 75% HT, and it seemed to lack the punch/impact over the 2 Tempest ported sonosub it replaced. If going for music with the Maggies I can all but assure you that you won't be dissappointed with an IB sub. Although you might want 2 of those 25" monsters, seriously. The "norm" seems to be to run double the amount of subs you normally would. Good luck on the decision and box if you decided to go that route...
  17. Thanks. Wonder which sticker you like
  18. YES she is and in a few years I'll make an "honest" woman out of her. LOL Finally got it all buttoned up. Had to remove the rear seats to get it in. Then her coax's were cutting out, turned out to be a loose RCA. It hits plenty hard and has good SQ. Dragged the GF out to hear it and she was amazed. Told me she'd never play it that loud, but I'm betting she will. Guy from work stopped by and his jaw was on the ground the entire time. Only problem so far is the package shelf is literally flapping up/down a 1/2" and I've already deadened it and added foam, etc... I'll probably have to screw it down. Tomorrow night I receive "favors" for my efforts
  19. Close up of the "cove" routered around the baffle opening. Looks pretty good in person.
  20. Tried a pic without the flash. Still doesn't do it justice...
  21. Top view shows the "cut out" I did so part of the gasket would show.
  22. Love it or hate it, it's done. GF LOVES it!!!
  23. You can rent a "wet saw" to cut the tiles. Ceramic you can just score & snap, but marble is too dense. Looks very nice and would be worth the effort. Have you considered wood sides with just a marble/granite top?
  24. Looks very good. I would have added a brace or 2 top/bottom since I'm "assuming" only the baffle is doubled up.
  25. It's WAY better to work with compared to MDF. Only "issue" is the boxes end up so light it's hard to hold them still when routing out the sub opening...
