  1. Out of those subs, I wouldn't pick ANYTHING BUT the Fi. The application doesn't matter. Unless he's wanting to use them for discus. Then I'd go with a lighter sub. I can't think of a single application where any of the other drivers would surpass the Fi.
  2. Don't buy a Chevy? J/K....I don't know....WD-40? *bump*
  3. sundown saz1500d
  4. And bass will drain those batterys FARRRR faster than mids/highs. A marine enviroment is already tough on engines/electrical (hence the 3 batterys, standard) don't get stuck on the water because you bumped too hard too long. Chicks don't care about the stereo if you can't take 'em home. If it were me, I'd look at a MAW15 (cheap to replace, decently loud, low power requirements) in a slotport (or bandpass, as M5 suggested) box. See if you have a drywell you could use to house a good portion of the box. Then I'd REALLY beef up the mids and midbass with 6.5 mids, and some 8" or even 10" midbasses. Poly cone would be an asset here. I'd put the (metal) tweeters under the dash or someplace dry and protected.
  5. That's sweet! Why, may I ask, did you decide to go with dual ports? Do you use the 1/2 single width and length? I haven't found an online calc for that yet.
  6. 600w isn't going to push the SSD. I have ~1000w to my copper D2 SSD and it's wishing it had more.
  7. For $40 at wallyworld, you can get a black and decker. If you're going to just install your own subs and make boxes and such (NOT using it for work) it's plenty. http://www.blackanddecker.com/ProductGuide...ProductID=10941
  8. You'd be better off spending the majority of your budget on mids and highs. Bass tends to vanish on a boat. I'd go with the 10's...in a spl style box.
  9. 1 ohm strapped = 3740 watts @ 68% efficiency
  10. I'd use 1 15 ported. Which one should be determined by what you want to acheive. Q for SQ, BL for SPL, and BTL...well I just LOVE my BTL. Great SQ and it's LOUD as all get out! With only ~900 watts, I freak ppl out when they find out it's one sub, and <1000w. I've had MANY people tell me thats the loudest system they've ever heard. So I'd suggest a fully loaded BTL 15. In 3.5 net, that sub would HAMMER, yet still sound great. The BTL is a VERY "tight" driver. The bassdrum kicks are controlled yet authoritative. Dave Matthew's band sounds great, as does old Police. Metallica's "One" breakdown is SOOOOOO clean. I really like the way the sub can handle 10x the wattage I've put on it, that means I can WANG the crap out of it and not worry about damaging it. VERY tough driver.
  11. I used to have my tweets on the dash firing up off the glass. Made a HUGE soundstage, but that's not a generally acceptable place. But I tell you it sounded great.
  12. I don't have any memphis experience...but I LOVE my sundown! I'd trust the sundown to be better quality.
  13. I'm not noticing any problems, just don't feel that a 75lb sub can be held as tightly with .75mdf as it could with 1.5 or 2.25 mdf. What sorta problems did you have Tej?

    The car is an Excursion.
  15. Kind of a dick thing to say... I roll in a BMW, but I'm not going to talk down about your chevy truck. At least not in a post you made about how much you liked it. Bad taste...but I guess that's what we see from you time and time again...nothing new there. To PG Pandy...Looks sweet! Love the paint! How on earth are you planning on having enough room for an 18 in there???

Generally, in SUV's, sub back port back sounds best. Sub up port back is loudest.
  17. I'd go as big a ported box as you can fit with a 15" BL or BTL. The BTL is closer to what you'd want wattagewise, but is considerably more expensive. (Loaded=$469) But still cheaper than 2 12's.
  18. I'd say sundown or used. I dont think 600 from the mini is gonna get you where you want to be. I've got 1000ish going to an SSD and I'm barely pushing it.
  19. I wouldn't know about that...mine is seeing 1500ish. Only one Sundown...until I get the electrical beefed. Besides, a few kw to anything isn't the proper way to go about sq...generally.
  20. Compared to what? Image Dynamics ID and IDMax. Lanzar OA, and DC. Orion XTRs. JL w7. Audiobahn anything (but they don't really count...) May I ask what subs get as loud (OR ANYWHERE NEAR) and still keep a similar SQ, in your eyes?
  21. Ive owned lanzar since 94. I have one in the BMW pushing an SSD.
  22. I have a 15" Loaded BTL that is in 4cubes. The box is .75 MDF. I will rebuild the box, should I doublewall anything other than the front baffle? I will probably resin the inside of the box, as well as brace it at several places.

    reg $379 loaded $469
  24. I don't think so. I've got a 12SSD copper coil on ~1000w and it's not even pushing it. My BTL get's louder on 1000w than the SSD!

I don't think anyone accused this dipchit of being a businessman.
