  1. if only i knew... We build a 2 10s box for 2 SE's that was designed by david and its the loudest ive herd in that style mustang yet
  2. well we had one 16yo girl with 2 12s on 2 powerbass 2kw amps and she didnt have much issues but at the same time ive seen people burn coils with less the the 1k rms rating
  3. i prefer the kinetik myself but they are both deep cycle agm batts so
  4. ya the SX's arent really meant for that power.
  5. true but my line of thinking at the time was i figured if im going to add a second alt why not I just added the fuse for the amp and lets just say wow. I have both the gain and output control on my processor all the way down and it sounds just about even with the mids/highs
  6. cool 18 thats what i wanted to know ya i only do spl comps 3 times a year or so... i'm mainly concerned with daily continuous time.
  7. RE has done us pretty well at the shop
  8. sry missed ur post 80in.... im running 2 hc16v's and i have the subs wired to 1 ohm. Im probably never going to have them at .5 because they are quad wired in series inside the box and id rather not take them out again
  9. if 18.0 is the limit i dont see an issue of running it at 18 instead of 18.8 i can always bump up the voltage for large draws and back down as necessary. Hence the necessity of the guage
  10. that's what i'm sorta worried about. and i cant really expect much resistance with the wires since there amp is so close to the battery and i'm using 2/0 wire
  11. ya ive been told to charge the kinetiks at 18.8
  12. As of today i finally have 99% of my wiring finished for my second externally regulated alt. Im going to get a volt meter of some sort so i know exactly where I'm sitting at voltage wise at all times (just in case the knob is bumped or any other unforseen issues) So for the next week or so im going to have a very small fuse on both the alt wire and amp wires just to be extra safe. I was just wondering how many of you guys are running the 3000d at 16v (18.8)? and if there's any thing i should know? I'm trying to be as cautious as possible to make sure nothing goes wrong but i thought id ask for advice from the experts
  13. That would be 2ohm daily or 0.5ohm at comps. ya i know but he keeps on asking about 1ohm and .5 maybe he has quad coils
  14. bump the sx tuning up and u can get more volume.... ive herd them tuned as high as 40 (minus a wall) and 35-38 is the best compromise of spl while still getting the low bass SPL your probably looking at the SX, T2, Brahma then hx2s I would personally choose the brahma since i have XXX 15s but they all sound like nice systems
  15. just do all your wire jumping outside of the box... by either utilizing the dual terminal cups or d blocks if ur stright wiring it. Then you can run 1ohm daily and .5 at comps
  16. mind you the RE SE is a triple stack as well. I could be completely off base but the mag looks more similar to the SX then SE
  17. sry i dont know much about Eclipse or alpine HU's... when i was looking into the alpines it seemed as if they all relied heavily on the alpine processor to do anything worthwhile, Hence why im not getting one
  18. the GM large case ohio gen i used for my second alt is a one wire setup. Gus asked if i wanted the one wire alt and i gladly took it
  19. and 8 months later the beast actually works.... Took a few pics of the finished work. Due to not being able to find the correct sized belt we had to add 2 idler pulleys to take up some slack.... Unfortunately that left only 2 options on routing of the belt around those pulleys. Going under the first pulley would have allowed more belt area on the AC but the belt would end up hitting the metal support... Going under the first pulley ultimately reduced the belt coverage on the AC even more but cleared everything up top. We tested the AC running and there really isn't any slippage. Mind you this is still "freshly finished" so the next few weeks will be keeping it slow and popping the hood often. And with that hopefully ill be lucky and be issue free for a long time.
  20. i personally think copper clad wire is a waste of time
  21. In the end an alt is the best way to get power but not the only way. Working at a stereo shop We've done systems as big as 8kw rms and other then me (in progress) only one person has a second/upgraded alt and that one person doesnt have the 8k system Since it seems like your going to add the batteries regardless and your doing 2 of the big 3... Just do that and see how much voltage loss you get. You can always add an alt later. Also remember your not going to be able to use the entire stock alt amperage for your system. Only ~30% is extra for accessories. the rest is "needed" for all your car electronics.
  22. im pretty sure the answer is yes
  23. ya after having a non carpeted box for forever (multiples) the smell is one that stays for a while. Gets bad in the sun too
