  1. hell ya. the 05 version is the good shit
  2. Just got it back from the upholstery shop... i need to remake the lip extension (originally did cardboard) to help seal it off 100% and fill a few big holes on the rear deck (just finished making sure all the little ones were sealed) and ill be ready to go. Next thing is probably the rear deck
  3. mmm avatar. i guess i must of missed the actual post on PTS but i memmer u starting to talk about it
  4. oh as a bonus i liek the new topic notifications... says the thread title in the subject line. awesome!!!
  5. ya it actually looked nice in person as well. but just got it back from the upholstery shop and the vinyl came out looking pretty good
  6. lol i actually liked the most recent skin prior to this update other then the fact of the crazy ass corner of death black chome is fine for now
  7. Its getting vinlyed as we speak... hope it comes out good I'm sorta worried
  8. the hds sound pretty good
  9. i wasnt going to post just this but since LBD asked: we removed the wood shaping ring and added some actual fiberglass
  10. lol everyone has been talking shit about the wiring.... in all actuality everything other behind the quarter panel is pretty clean and ziptied (other then a few random wires i just ran) the whole rats nest on top of the rear deck is all temporary... i have 2 amps on the rear seats for now but once i get one more ill be able to put everything on the rear deck cut down the wires and clean it all up
  11. thanks all... took off the shaping ring and got some actual glass on there today its going very well
  12. cobalt ss
  13. yup i like the look alot better then the inverted. Scott hooked it up with some blank ones and i had the xxx and re decals put on and the whole thing clear coated. there's a bit of orange peel on the clear coat so it could look a lil better but it still looks hella good (you cant really tell anyway thou
  14. heres a friendly reminder of what the subs/box looked like when i first put it in over a year ago(i never found a reason to take an updated pic considering nothing ever changed) I yanked the subs to spray some spectrum in the box. mainly to make sure the subs are sealed a little better and because ive had the spectrum sitting forever so might as well do something with it. I sprayed just under a gallon in both chambers. Made some cardboard lip extensions. the goal here was to be able to attach the the fabric to the lip and stretch it into the box holes... We were unsure if this was gonna work well but it was the best idea/shot we had. Starting the fabric/resin as you can tell it worked. We were afraid the resin would eat up any adhesive we used on the fabric and just completely fall apart. before we left the shop it was gelling up pretty well without any issues so it should be fine/dry in the morning
  15. sweet. its glad to know you actually care . most would just build it however and that's how it would be... or leave it so it will match cosmetically.
  16. they are one company and both amps are designed by the same guy
  17. right every amp will spark (to charge the caps) but kenwood actually uses the case as a ground so it can stop working if you touch 12v to the case. main reason i gave the heads up is because he lives out of the country. if your in the US and you want to blow up your kenwood amps that's fine with me but if not it would really suck if you did it on accident and had no efficient way of getting a new one or getting it repaired or anything
  18. it looks better imo so if it was a straight trade i would do it. but if ur paying for it just realize ur probably not going to notice a difference other then the visual cover
  19. ive never actually metered the output of an amp honestly. i just do it by ear
  20. huh... ya ive never herd of ghetto rigging it like that but i guess that might work. i really dont know when i fucked it up i just took it to my boss and said sorry. he opened it up did his magic and i got it once i finished the rest of the wiring
  21. mind you that amp is a mono block and cant be bridged.... what kind of subs do you have and what coils are on them?
  22. um maybe... im not sure how often greg checks the forums... hes on so many. EIther way from seeing them both at ces this year and last year and watching my boss talk shit to the designer (not in a bad way) they sound very very similar. I cant really say they are the exact same amp because i wouldnt know but i dont think very many changes were made. a few but i dont think anything crazy
  23. correct. yes you pretty much have to take off the top to mess with it but when screwing on that battery wire your screwdriver is very close to that heatsink still one slip and there's a good possibly of a fried amp. Its always better safe then sorry so take out the fuse or yank the wire from the battery or whatever you need to to to make sure that wire doesn't have 12v when ur installing it. 90% or more of these style kenwoods we fix are have been blown that exact way... its kenwoods pico fuse if you want to think of it like that
  24. I really hope so, because i bought this from US, and im moving back to my native country on Thursday, so i really hope it works, i looked up some info about this amp, saw some videos when it was powering two 18 inch FIs. But i will probably use 2x12" woofers. right but thats the bigger 900w amp. Ive had a bit of experience with kenwoods so if you want to make it worth while listen up. DO NOT attempt to hook up the amp with the power wire live. the kenwood design uses the case as a ground and alot of people hook it up with the power wire live arc the screwdriver on the case (its pretty close) and bam amps blown. I know i have and ive been aware of this before installing my first one. Power wise they aren't bad, decently clean too IMO but they are a lil small. now i might just be used to rockford fosgate power where the 1000w amp is really 1200-1300 but in comparison with similar sized amps the kenwood seems to be slightly lacking. I think they look like a million bucks thou. Oh and if you hook it up at 1 ohm it will thermal. The amp is really a 2 ohm amp and saying its a 1 ohm amp is stupid of kenwood. Assuming you dont have a choice your going to need alot of breathing room and fans for that amp. at 1 ohm it heats up fast, mind you i live in the desert with 100+ weather but just giving you the FYI so as long as you don't fry the amp the second you hook it up you should be fine and have much more power then that memphis assuming its the mc2.100 like sander said
  25. i don't know exactly but i'm pretty sure they are pretty similar. i don't think the v2 is completely new just remodeled if that makes sense
