  1. http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...mp;#entry263603 simple review. I like a peaky substage
  2. ^^ The SS never worked out, so I just go 2 memphis 4ks. I'm extremely pleased with them. #s coming early July.
  3. Go to the tech section of the forum and look at the BTL specs and it will explain all of the options to you. In this section it says flat out DO NOT get the SPL option for daily use, only daily. With some of the other options you are looking at a pretty good sub for daily listening that can get obnoxiously loud for competition as well. I have the daily setting, and I'm tuned to around 34-35hzish. I'm extremely pleased with the way it sounds. How much power were you planning on putting on the sub for burps, and how much for daily?
  4. I'd contact kicker just to see, but I think you are fd in the A. Time to buy Fi? Did you just buy assuming you could get recones? What's wrong with them?
  5. That was a very interesting link I'm insterested in how subwoofer and port directions effect that. I can see the practical application of a front firing wall, but I have crx style boxes in my yukon, and I wonder how to figure the distance with that? Have you had success using the formula they give (I guess so being that you say you're going to finals, just wondering how accurate it is).
  6. I'd do BLs or BTLs. I just prefer SPL, and I think they'll still sound great tuned ~32hz or so. With the cost of the RF4ks you could try one sundown 3k each and it would be around the same cost. Just an idea. EDIT: just saw the 1100 price on the 3ks. unless someone can get you a deal, that's within 100 of memphis 4ks... which are still near half the cost of a RF4k.

I would think it would be ok for burps if you are careful. I think how clean the signal is will be key.
  8. ^^^^
  9. I understand entirely. My vote goes for the 15 BLs then. Good luck.
  10. Anything by jeezy seems to be pretty good. Young Dro - Jackie chan hits very hard Young Joc- A few songs off the cd, track 15 has serious deep bass. Great track (don't know the name). I like rock, and Thrice- Artist in the Ambulance is a great album as is Underoath- either CD.

? I'm we Todd did, and you?

Def. BTLs for future expansion. They'll be good for now, and retarded with 4k each.
  13. The 5 cubes is NET after displacement. After port and sub you'll be closer to 4 cubes, unless you can fiberglass and get the 5 cubes net after displacement. I'd tune a little lower, 33-35 at the highest if it's for daily, and you are interested in the lows well. One BL 18 in 5 cubes net would meet the minimum requirement. If you can't get that than 1 15 BL, or 2 12" ssds. If you can figure out a way to get the space for the 18" BL, get all the options and call it a day. There isn't enough space for 2 15" SSDs, but 2 12" SSDs would- and they'd have more displacement than 1 15. It's just a matter of what you can really have the space for.
  14. ^That's my feelings. It'll also give you some room if you ever get a bigger amp or get more serious towards competing. That's my thoughts.
  15. What kind of power were you throwing at that to blow it? was it on 2 amps- one per coil? What amps and enclosure?
  16. What kind of car was that in? Was that on music or tones? Did you win anything?
  17. Well i'm not new to car audio, just to this forum. I want a sub that can take the full power at times, aka i will set the gains to max (by max i mean for true 2k output, not gain knob set all way up lol). But i do not listen to music at full blast all the time, my amp has a remote which basically just a remote for the gain and i usually turn it down to blend better for daily use. I listen to everything rock, rap, jazz, country. And with all those but rap i keep everything leveled for sq, but on rap i do like to have the amp pushing its most for a couple of songs. I hope that helps, just with the bl how long could it take the 2k at a time, i mean clean unclipped signal. my brothers takes a bxi2006d for as long as he wants, but he still rarely listens full blast. do you compete at all, or plan on upgrading amps?
  18. I would agree with audio-neon. To me it depends on your ability to back off on the amp. If you are going to go all out often, the BTL will handle it better. If you are responsible with the gain and want some headroom the BL will be better. What are your personal preferences music/application-wise and how are you going to treat it would determine my pick.
  19. are those the internal dimensions? What is the port length? I'd say regardless, just from the dimensions you gave if those are external and you have a little over a foot displacement from the port you'll have enough. I'm getting you'll have about 5ft total, which is the max recommended. What freq is it tuned to?
  20. SC What part of SC? I'm here in MB.
  21. There are several things that I'm wondering: with the 10s what kind of enclosure are they in? It is hard to say what will 'be louder', that's got a lot to do with setup. If you aren't hearing much in the 60-90hz range then you need to upgrade your mid-bass. What is your front stage like-what kind of amp do you have on your front speakers and what kind of speakers? 60hz is really about the most you want your sub(s) to be playing for music. If your subs aren't playing in the 60-90hz range that's a good thing, and is most likely your enclosure or your amps settings instead of the 'cone material.' I'd meter on the t/l and see if you aren't closer to 140 (not doubting you, just saying t/l is much harsher than other meters). Then you'll have a solid comparision. Regardless, I think the 2 15s will be better- more cone area. I wouldn't mind going with BTLs with that much power, then you have the chance to upgrade to 2 memphis amps later if comps are in mind. good luck.
  22. a lot of companies seem to view it as a selling feature. "18db BBoost" BS. Not too many seem to care about the quality anymore
  23. t/l classifieds= termpro.com > go to the forum> go to the classifieds section. I never could get ahold of the guy with the memphis 4ks.
