Is what this installer said true
If you're doubling everything there should be an audible difference. A lot of people have told me the same thing, but I sure heard the difference between 1 sub and 2.

BTLs power
maor= Major w/out the j Are you looking for used/new? I'd check termpro.com for a used memphis 4k, or 2 bxi2006ds off ebay. Still going to be closer to 700 even on a used memphis or RF 4ks. Maybe a SoundStream 6500 or 10000 used. New, the hifonics will be the only decent thing I can think of that will come close. I'd really look to increase your budget closer to $900 -especially if looking for new stuff, if not one of the amps above can be had for around 6-700 used if you look hard. I had 2 bxi2006ds on my 2 btls, and they got very loud. The little extra power you could get from 2 kicker 2500s or some sundown 1500s or larger amps is worth the price tag imo.

Got my (2) ssd12 box designed
Great job with everything. Looks very nice.
-
Better of the two amps
2500s should be a little more powerful. Also when you go to sell those amps (if you do) the 4 2500's will sell faster then the 4ks because of cost.
-
what amp should i get
Are you willing to buy used? I was very happy with 2 bxi2006ds on my btls very loud and can be had for 320 each shipped off ebay, but if you are like me you'll wonder, what more do they have in them if they are this loud?! I'd say you really want to be giving them around 2500-3000 rms to really bring them out. You can get a RF4000, or soundstream 10000, or a memphis 4k. All will sound great, but it's your call. If used is OK then there are always great deals on ebay or termpro forum.

1 Q 18" review!!!
not bad at all. I understand what you mean, it's good to have balance- not just pure bass all the time. Good job on your first try, I'm waiting for a show near me myself.

BTL owners
I wanna be meade when I grow up j/k I'm happy w/ my 2 btl 18s- don't know a new score since doubling power and changing a few things.

Need some opinions.
go to ficaraudio.com for pricing and specs on subs. This will let you compare and contrast right from where you order anyway. The BL takes 1krms, but my bro is putting 2krms on a loaded 12 w/out problems. I have BTL 18s, and they don't complain about a clean 4krms, though they are rated for 2krms. I think both can sound exceptional with music depending on the setup. The dimensions you gave will have 34.2755ft^3, not including tire well. This is also gross, not net. You'll have to post the rest of the info on your tire wells to know the exact gross space, or you can take 34.2755 - (Volume of tire wells) x2. Then figure how much space the box walls, subs, and port take up, and subtract that to get net. soo tired, sorry if typo

spl show results fi cleans house
Great scores, great job w/ all that stock stuff too. With the 15" BTL what vehicle was that in? What tuning/amp/etc.? Just curious. I was hitting 149.x w 1 btl 18 and a bxi 2006d, and I'm always looking for ways to get louder. Thanks, and great job.

15 Fi BTL in a Cavalier?
doubling your power is a theoretical 3db increase. 250-500-1000-2000=9db increase. you will have less cone area (-3db), theoretically making it a 6db increase, but I suspect you'll see more than that because of the loudness of the BTL I'd do the 15" BTL, I think you'll see a very audible and considerable change.

amp help
1 amp for both subs: Kicker 2500 rockford 3000.1, rockford 4000.1 cactus sounds 4k Memphis 4k Could put 1 hifonics bxi2006d, or 1606 per sub I'm sure there's others, but depending on options I would give each sub 1500wrms. If you get a bigger amp you'll always have overhead, and room for expantion.

3kw, 8 cubes, 2-12"s
If you have 8 cubes my personal preference would be 2 15" BLs. But if you're sure you want 12s then bl 12s. Are you only having the port enter the cab? That's just what it looks like from the pics.

FI subs
99 gmc yukon HU:alpine 9831 Subs: 2 Fi BTL 18 D2 Fully loaded Amps: 2 Memphis Mojo 4ks Boxes: 2 seperate boxes (so they can easily be removed for work) 7.5ft^3 net @ 35hz Batt: 1 starter batt, 2 optima yellow tops Wires: 2 runs 1/0 stinger, big 3, 200amp h/o alt 150.8 @ 42hz, 149.8 @ 33hz on 2 hifonics bxi2006ds and 1 run of 1/0. Upgraded amps and wiring since then, and haven't been metered since. May build a new box first too, like to be shooting for mid 150s, but doubt more than ~153 as is.

18" or 2 12"
sd on the 12 is 481cm^2 sd on the 18 is 1210cm^2 That is a 248 cm^2 difference between 2 12s and 1 18. Theoretically giving the 18 the advantage if everything else is the same. If you give the 1 18 1500 watts, or the 2 12s 3000 watts, the 12s could have the advantage. Its a matter of your setup. If you have the room for a good box for an 18, I'd go with 2 15" BLs. just my opinion.

Fi Team Shirts
There are only the 3 sizes that were mentioned? Or can I order a medium or a large? If so are prices adjusted accordingly? Thank you.

Thanks for the links, def was looking for something like that. I have been looking for months for someone nearby to fix my alternator dilemma. I bought 1 200a, and was told I could have it wound up closer to 300. Well, no one around here will do it. No one around here can get a 300a alt, and no one around here will machine a bracket to hold a 2nd alt. So I'm still just trying to find someone. I've tried everyone in the phonebook, and everyone I've been told to try, so... that's just going to have to wait I suppose. I'm trying to figure out a place to put some more batteries w/out blocking the port I have w/ the way it's designed, but I may end up changing the box design to accomodate. Thanks for the tips, and I'll def. check out the deals on the wire.

Height of the box for 18's
If it's facing forward, magnet facing the back-cone forward, then it's close to 18" on the 18. Not trying to over simplify it, but does that answer your question?

Glad I could make you smile Scott. Plus that's some free advertising right there- not to mention the fact I'm wearing the Fi shirt As far as gas I'm pretty indiferent. I went from a mustang gt to a yukon, so about 5 miles a gallon drop. 15-16 miles city while hauling 400+ lbs of audio equipment and still having room to carry a table saw, tool boxes, shop vac, pressure washer and a passenger, while having the roof rack to mount ladders/pipes/wood, and tow a trailer all at the same time is great to me . -kloudy thanks. I know I put almost 50,000 miles on my car this year alone, I think I spend over 5-600 a month on gas alone- but as you said it has its advantages. I have the 350 in my yukon (5.7) and I love it. Good acceleration while hauling, plenty of room. -KSlice I have upgraded the big 3, but today I got the 2nd run of 1/0. I should have it run by tomarrow. I traced part of my problem to an additional grounding problem at the front, so now w/ the same 3 batts and 1 run of 1/0 car off it drops to a little over 11v at the back full tilt. I'm hoping that 2nd run will do some, especially w/ the car on. I couldn't put it in today because I didn't have my fuse holders but tomarrow is another day. If I can find a good deal on wire I'll run all the runs I can. I know I could run about 5-10 runs of 4 guage for free, but I'd rather stick to the 1/0. Tremor like the story, nice. I love my bros BL 12, hands down the best 12 I've heard spl wise, but it still is only getting 1/2 the air space it needs. It's only getting 1.1ft^3 @ 32hz and it still sounds great. I'm really looking forward to putting it in its righful box. 2kwatts on 1 12 w/ 2ft^3 @ 32-35hz in a single cab chevy 2500- it should be great, and I'm sure it'll sound better sq wise too. My cousin called me- he just got 2 jl w3 15s he wants me to hear. He says they pound, and he wants to hear my setup. he heard when I had 1 18 on 2k watts, and I'm pretty sure he would've gotten some ssds except that the got the jls for free. I'm pretty sure after he hears these he'll be checking out the site. Thanks again for the fantastic subs. Oh, as far as how I meter, I'm tuned to ~35 hz, so really just for loud daily. Last time I was metered on a lucky 4k watts I was hitting around 151 @ 42hz, 150 @ 35hz, so I'm really hoping with holding voltage better and having better amps to be closer to 153-154 @ 42. I'd like to build a better box too, but I'm trying to get some better plans. I designed the boxes I have, port back sub up, but I need to play with that some. I'm very happy with how it sounds on music..

I just wanted to say that I am amazed by your subs. I haven't cranked it up in a while, but I did yesterday, and was bewildered again. I was at Circuit city yesterday, and all of the guys who work there showed me their equipment. Kicker, MTX. A customer had a JL W712 on an alpine 1000. They sounded ok, but my bros bl 12 just kills the JL spl wise, as well as another guys 2 kicker comp 12s. The lows the the BL are just nasty- sounding strong and authoritative. I have 2 18" BTLs w/ 2 memphis 4ks, and I noticed on strong hits I'll hold 12v at the front, but at the amps I was droppping in the 8-9v range. I have 3 batts (2 yellowtops and a starter) and 1 run of 1/0. Well Circuit city has about 20ft of stinger 1/0 I'm putting in for free to match whats in there . The 1/0 was actually getting hot after about 5 minutes of play. I found a better ground that helps keep the amps up to around 10v, but that's still pretty bad. I'm not sure what to do about running multiple runs for my ground, or what to do. So.... One of the guys there wanted to look at/hear my yukon, so I pulled into the bay. I put in something ghetto- lil john or jeezy or something, and cranked it up. My hair started blowing around, despite the gel. People started coming from other parts of the store to see what was making that bass. The verizon guy in the center of the store called back complaining that he was having trouble talking w/ his customers. The guy in tvs said the tvs were shaking on the shelves, and the girl at register 1 (front of the store-complete opposite side) called back asking what was making the lights shake in the ceiling, her teller light vibrate, and the change rattle in her register. Needless to say my manhood grew 3 sizes that day, and everyone working there was asking what do you have again? Just bought alllll my apliances yesterday as well as furniture for the new house, and that really has a way of putting a hurting on your bank account (damn her wanting stainless), but as soon as the $ starts rolling in again I'd be looking for my payment for 2 more btls.

I got a Q
I don't understand why you can't use the aero inside the box, or what you mean by you don't have space to use aero vs pvc? do you just mean the depth of it? I'd really try to get a bit more area if possible. PVC isn't that expensive, you can buy a 10' length of 6" for $20 at lowes/home depot. You could make a square port with a bit more area, what about a 5x6 rectangular port with beveled edges? I would think that would be better and still not eat up all your box.

My Fi 18Q flex vids
Great vids, but it always amazes me how enormous the difference is between vehicles. ex. I can put much less power/sub in my bros blazer and it sounds as loud as a whole load of stuff in the yukon. I've really been considering buying one (older) for spl purposes. Like I said, looks like that thing pounds- sure moves enough stuff.

BL 18'' or 15''
I thought I replied but it isn't showing up? Well, I like the 18. I have 2 18s, and am happy. The 18 has more cone area, theoretically making it louder, but install is very important to all aspects of its performance. My vote is 18.

PLZ HLP me with this simple question
Here's how I see it: If you get 4 15" bls, you'll be happy with 1500-2kwatts or so a sub. If you get BTLs you'll be happy with 3-4kwatts or so a sub. So you'll want about the same power in the end regardless of the subs, so amps are not in the equation. So if you have the same amount of power, the bls will be louder because you'll have 2x the cone area. If you eventually go to 12k-16k total w/ 4 btls then that will have the advantage. If space isn't an issue and you dont want to build your setup- you want to finish it- go with 4 BLs. Again, that's my thoughts.
