  1. I know you all have seen many pics, but this one is mine, and mine alone.
  2. If I am correct chicagofan, your aeros would be 3.14x2^2x14.61= 183.502/1728= .106x4=.425cf for all 4-4" aero ports at 14.61" in length.
  3. OK, 3.14x2^2x12.55= 157.628/1728=.09122 If I am correct, that means .09122x2= .1824cf is the displacement of both 4" aeros each having a length of 12.55" So in reality, 4.97cf-.1824cf= 4.788 cf. So /2 and I will net 2.394cf per driver. All of these calculations fall within the recommended specs too. Does this look correct to you guys. And thank you to BKOLF04 and rushnrun for your assistance.
  4. Doesn't bother me at all. The experienced people can kill two birds with one stone.
  5. I just recalculated the port length at 4.57cf and it 11.55" and 12.55" respectively.
  6. So I should do 4.97cf less the approximation of the port displacement and do the port length to get roughly 4.57cf to determine the length of the ports? I also should mention I am attempting to keep the box dimensions within the stated parameters due to not wanting to build the box in the trunk. So that is the biggest I can go. Thus the reason I am working through the problem the way I am.
  7. So here is what I came up with. 40"L x 18"W x 16"H using 3/4" MDF. Gross internal cf is 5.33cf. I figured around .18cf displacement /driver (estimated) and will be left with 4.97cf I bought 2 4" Precision Ports. There calculator on thier site recommends a Straigh Length of 9.48" and Flare length of 10.48" to achieve a tune of 32Hz in a 5.33cf box. I can handle that length with what was provided in the kit from Precision Ports. Here is where I get messed up. Being left with 4.97cf before taking out port displacement, I can't seem to calculate the volume in cf that these ports will take up. I have tried several different calculators and will continue to try and figure this out. This is where I ask for help. This box will be housing 2 12" AA Havocs and will be powered by a SAZ3000D. Is this box ok for these subs? It fits withing the parameters of the AA recommended size, but is there some consideration I need to make concerning the power I have on tap and the box size relative to the drivers capabilities. Or am I analyzing this too much. Thanks in advance, Chris

These pics made my day. I have always been interested in seeing behind the scenes type stuff. The longer I attend college, the more I am interested in those things. I appreciate you guys sharing this with us.
  9. I definitely will. And as far as the looks, I have heard they can be deceiving. I prefer the depth od the Havoc mids to the Rainbow mids as I would not have needed to cut the door panel, but that is water under the bridge. The cf cone looks amazing too. I really look forward to seeing what they are capable of. On a side note. The tweeter pods sucked. There were too many complex for the Vinyl and when fitted, I mounted the pods about 1/2" too low and they prevented proper placement of the door panels. I broke them down to the stock sail and am going to start over.
  10. I will be. Getting ready as I type!
  11. I hope to have everything in y the end of Jan. I will be sure to post my impressions.
  12. I agree, the Rainbows do look more like a midbass. I used them for a year before they decided to give off thier majic smoke. I was running them passive with the ZX850.4 bridged. It worked well for a while, but they finally gave in. I have not seen graphs of either. I am going to try the Rainbows out first with the lower power, active and crossed at 80 and see if they behave differently. The baffle I made will accomodate either mid to aid in a direct comparison. I am trying to experiment with both and try not to cloud my opinion without seat time and testing the best I can. The driver I like the best will stay and I will sell the other. My hope is to be able to play the mids at 63Hz or 80Hz w/ 12db/octave slope and have the Havoc 12"s take up under there, but the first try with the Rainbows didn't work like I wanted. They sounded great, but I think the crossovers were dumping all the unused power from the tweeter and causing issues when I tried to balance them. I will be running a considerable amount less power this time, so I hope this helps with that issue. My biggest fear is the cal27VOF tweeter being overpowered and that causing issues. I bought the ZX850.4 on a whim without thinking about what I was using it for. It really is more than I need. I am going to move forward with the tweeter pods I built though. I will post some pics. They were aimed at the dash and the left one at the gauge cluster and always sounded a bit off and muffled at times when I was doing pleasure listening. So I decided on a new angle and glassed a set to try and correct this. I hope they aren't too harsh being so close to on-axis. We will see. I am in an experimentation phase with the setup, so if it doesn't work, I will try something else. Here are the pods I built. Don't laugh too hard as this was my first time glassing. No pics of the bondo stage as I think they look horrible so I didn't take any. These will be attached to the stock sail panels and then moulded in. That is the plan anyway.
  13. Thanks! I will post the build log when I get ready so you guys can critique it.
  14. They are mad sexy aren't they.
  15. It depends on your local dealer. I bought from Shawn, as he is the only authorized dealer in my area. I will post if he says it is cool.
  16. Here are a couple more pics of the Rainbows next to the Havoc mids I know I am not Mr. Photography, but you get the idea.
  17. Yup. And a shot of them next to my Rainbow Powerline mids I will be doing a head-to-head and see which set I like better. I have never had a cf coned mid before, so I am super excited about seeing what they can do. Both are 7" mids and vary vastly on design philosophy and contruction. It should be interesting. This will be active, my first try, and will be complimented with the Rainbow cal27VOF tweeter and run off the 4 channels of a Kicker ZX850.4.
  18. I guess with the holidays and all of my car issues I neglected to post these. It shouldn't be too long before I get them in. Next to one (of 2) of the 4" Precision Ports I plan on using. and my favorite pic Enjoy!
  19. I recently sold my Q's and picked up a pair of Havocs. I don't have the same box though, and due to some engine trouble, it may take a little while to get things completed. I am very interested in your opinion though. I think I may need more power than I have, but we shall see.
  20. Beautiful box. I only wish I could do that.

Man, I don't want to have to go all the way to Vegas to get one. Or maybe I do.

That statement i said up there was not intended to be rude in any way.. and look what you did^ doesnt seem necessary to come back with a smart ass comment My statement was not intended to be rude either. Not sure why you took it that way? I said that while being jealous of your 18"s.

You run 2 18" Havoc's, why would you need pics of mine? I am confident you know what they look like.

I just got my Fi hoodie, but am now running AA subs. Any chance there will be AA apparel?
  25. Perfect. Time to get on the ball and get em' ! Thanks for the reply!
