  1. yeah the dcon looks nice. haven't heard anything about the fi x really.
  2. Thanks but I saw that. Any idea when they will be available again or if the new line is coming out soon?
  3. Anyone know where I can get the 187 or when they are releasing the new model?
  4. ugh, yeah that sucks. I might get a 500 watt amp instead. To help try to avoid the voltage drop. Well see.
  5. Well I'm stupid, I googled the specs of my amp again. It does 70 x 2 rms at 12volts and 100 x 2 at 14.4volts. So looks like either way I'm okay. Time to save for those IA components. btw, someone told me to find out the average current your system will produce at normal listening levels is to take your fuse ratings and divide them by 2. I'm looking at an MB quart amp that has an 80 amp fuse and my 2 channel as two 20 amp fuses. So thats 60 amps. If I have a 70 amp alternator. Am I pretty much screwed? That leaves 10 amps to run everything for the car like power windows etc, right? So at higher volumes wont this really mess with my voltage.
  6. I'll probably get the IA set, and then in the future upgrade to a bigger amp and extra battery.
  7. Do you know where I could read up on that kinda set up or what its called exactly? I've never heard of it done like that. So I just basically put the battery in line somewhere on the power wire before it gets to the distro block?
  8. I'm more worried about clipping than loudness but I see your point. I dont know any audio shops around me other than best buy and this one place that only sells hertz, audison and JL. I heard the hertz and they were awesome. So I think I'll save and spring for the IA components. But after looking around, I've narrowed it down to 2-3. 1. IA components $140 shipped 2. Pioneer Premier TS-D720C $130 shipped 3. ARC Audio KS 6006 $150 shipped
  9. well I'm coming from 4inch coaxials running of a HU so anything should sound good enough. Everything I've come across in stores has been pretty expensive. Usually kicker or infinity and I wasnt a huge fan.
  10. I was considering those but they are rated at 85 rms. I feel since they are IA they are probably underrated and I'm concern I wont be able to get them loud enough with 70rms, or will I just be clipping them at higher volumes.
  11. already did. I ordered a pair and I thought I got them but then got an email 2 days later saying they were sold out and they couldnt fill my order. Sucks.
  12. I have an alpine 2 channel amp that does 70RMS at 4 ohms and 120 RMS at 2 ohms. I'm looking for a set of 6.5 components to run as my front stage. So far I wont be running a rear stage. The lower the price the better and I dont want to buy used unless I can pick up in person etc, so classifieds are out. Long story. My MAX budget would be 120. I was considering some power bass S6C's, they are around 50$ shipped. What would you recommend?
  13. I mean, wont that put even more strain on my alt? What exactly do I need to run a 2nd bat. I need another run of 0g. A battery, and a regulator right, since if they arnt the same size one drains the other correct?
  14. hey, did anyone else not get their order filled? I placed an order 2 days ago and then today received an email saying that they were sold out and the order cannot be filled. This sucks.
  15. I just sold my car which I bought previous equipment for. So now I'm waiting to place everything into a new car. Depending on the cars alternator size, I'll either get a 500 or 750 rms amp. If its something small like a honda that has a 70amp alt, I dont think I can pull off a 750rms plus my 2 channel. I feel on top of regular electrical, my voltage will drop off by a lot. So I'm waiting on the new car to buy the amp which is the last thing I need. I've just read a lot of threads that have ppl saying you need 800-1000rms to get the SA-12 moving. As long as 500rms can play well enough and can handle playing low notes, I dont rly care about hitting a certain number of DB's. This is a daily setup. I just bought a set of aura components and those r the only other speakers I'll be running with this sub.
  16. thanks, I'm having someone build my box to so maybe they can make it a little larger to make up for the lack of power. Ideally I'd want to run 750rms to it but I dont want to deal with issues down the road. plus kicker sells this 500rms amp that apparently has a rly small footprint and is pretty efficient which I'd like to run. Don't get caught up with numbers, your going to be hard pressed to notice a difference between 500watts and 750watts (really wouldn't be able to tell). Not to mention those numbers don't actually mean your drivers will be receiving anywhere near that power for very long. Larger enclosure volume increases efficiency, if you have the room for it. haha I think I can handle that box size, I'll just never use my trunk. I could care less about numbers in terms of db's, I'm just using this for a fun system to listen too. My last system was a 250rms wal-mart sub in a sealed prefab, and I thought that even got kinda loud when turned up. So I'm sure 500rms with an sa-12 will make me happy. I'm just concerned that I'm giving it enough power to play well, especially the lows which I hear take the most power.
  17. thanks, I'm having someone build my box to so maybe they can make it a little larger to make up for the lack of power. 18. From all of you who have run an SA-12. How will they run off of 500rms? I heard while they are rated at 600rms they need a little more than that to get moving well. But my car has a small alternator and I think 500rms is about what I can pull off safety. I just worry it wont be enough.
  19. Thanks for the review! I definitely want to get a pair of front components now! Hopefully I can grab a pair tonight or tomorrow. Idk how many are left exactly. I'm on a crazy tight budget so these are perfect.
  20. Thanks! I think I'll basically between the kicker or the MB quart. I dont plan to upgrade in the future. BTW, I'm still pretty new to car audio and dont exactly understand gains in terms of RMS. I hope I type this question right, so if someone can answer it I'd rly appreciate it. Lets say I have two amps. One that makes 500rms at 2 ohms and one that makes 800rms at 2 ohms. If I set the gains lower on the 800rms amp, is there a way to technically get 500rms out of it by setting the gains lower? I know with the 500 rms amp, if I set the gains right I'll have the power I need. But with the 800rms amp, I'm worried about pusing to much power and causing my voltage to drop, so I want less power. Will setting my gains lower on the 800rms amp help with that or will it have no effect on how much power I'm actually getting. By that I mean, I'll be running 800 rms either way.
  21. Hifonics, Audiopipe, Crunch, etc would all fit in your budget. BUT there are many more out there. haha I literally heard all 3 of those were horrible so I avoided looking at them. I need something that will be good for daily use, not get insane hot or break after a week. I dont really push my system though, basically showing off to friends for a few minutes or listening at normal levels all day.
  22. So I couldnt pass up the deal on the SA line on here and purchased an SA-12 last night. Now it needs an amp. The car has a small alt, 70 amps. I want to keep it all under 1000rms. I will be running a 2 channel that makes 140rms total so I'm looking to give the sub anywhere from 500-750rms at 2 ohms. 600 would be ideal for me. My budget is 220 with shipping. What would you suggest? So far all I can think of is either an MB quart onx 1000.1D, a kicker ZX500.1 or a DX1000.1 (makes 50rms more than the ZX)
  23. yeah please type a review. I might grab a pair of components and a 2 channel amp.
  24. Thanks guys! Is there anything you dont like about them? How is the mid bass? The only other components I can think of in that range are like, pioneer ts 720C's, entry DSLs, Entry Arc audios and some CDT's.
  25. So I have an alpine v12 707 amp 2 channel which does 70rms at 4 ohms. Im just generally looking into components and these seem legit. Has anyone heard them? Are they any good? They will be for my front stage and I'm not sure if I'll be running a rear stage yet. Also, will 70rms be enough for them? rated at 85rms. I just dont want them to distort once I turn the volume up. (obviously not full blast)
