  1. instead of dividing it, why not brace it with some dowels, like every 8 inches with a 1" diameter dowel.
  2. your welcome, my next vehicle will be a tow vehicle for my drag car, so i am looking for an extended cab 98-01 dakota r/t *5.9L v8* so that i can do a blow-through and half wall for 2 15 or 18" btl's and a DD z1a.
  3. i would give it atleast 1.5 "'s but that's me.
  4. I think it should be illegal to have a shop without a dmm.
  5. The math isn't that hard and all you really need is a calculator that can handle weird powers like 10^-.7 blah blah Oh and port design has nothing to do with a woofer, ports are based off of tuning a ratio of port area and length to box area.
  6. i know that my poor little neon is at 1300+ watts and straining, but even on sine waves full tilt, with lights on and air conditioner and defrost at idle; it takes my car over forty seconds to get below 12 volts. and that is with an 80 amp alt and a oem battery.
  7. I know for a fact that the 4th gen camaro can hold 2 18" in the back of the trunk, I will have to talk to jeff and see if i can get him to email me the pics of his wife's car ( the new setup). His subs are in infinite baffle, but you should easily be able to get one 18 in there.
  8. Louder by perception, yes!, lol. I guess if i buy some nightshade's they will keep jeff's 2 IDQ 15's (the only two chromed ones) company.
  9. have to love the birth sheets, even if you hate kicker!
  10. trey, i like your attitude.
  11. Ported for the btl, the bl can be in both, the q is an amazing sq sub as well, preforms both in ported and sealed.

or just one 6" port 11.2 inches long

    2 6" ports 26.8" long
  14. Sure does... funny thing is I was trying to make a tweeter... *laughs* JK Jacob i have to ask, and you can pm me the answer if you want, but did Scott help you out at all with this sub, It looks like it has great potential to be an spl beast. Some similarities to a fully decked out btl, the triple stacked magnets etc... It's looks This woofer is not related to FI Audio or Scott in any way. The BTL is a beastly woofer, but this one is not related other than the fact that it is also a very large SPL geared woofer I really do like it, it looks bad ass, and should be mounted inverted just to show off the chrome, is the basket staying chrome? so even if i was mounted regularly you would still see some chrome, on the lip?
  15. A bl or a btl and 2000 watts would make your pants happy.
  16. Just run one amp to each coil, strapping/bridging is only necessary for running multiple amps to a coil ie 4 amps to a btl, 2 amps to a single vc sub, 8 amps to a quad coil sub etc...

If i am doing my math right, your box is 8 cu feet (with a double front baffle and 3/4 inch mdf) which would require 96-128 sq inches of port.

  20. Hi, I'm MJ, currently working on buying two 12" Q's and two Sundown Sae 1000D's. Currently educating the world, one listener at a time.
  21. They are dual 2 ohm, roughly 1.5 ohms each on the DMM for DCR. So I was close to 0.7 DCR in parallel. I'll be doing more testing on the SAE-1000D to further verify stability. A 0.7 DCR load should present no issues as that is 1 ohm nominal, albeit on the lower side... but so far so good on testing With FOUR of them on one speaker I doubt they would even get very warm daily. Remember... 0.7 DCR... not nominal. Seeing as i am not doing spl to next year, im just gonna order up two once i get my money together for now. Once i finally get around to doing my spl build, (have to finish my motor for my drag car, and buy the tow vehicle) I will most likely be looking at 4 saz 3000d's.
  22. That is very interesting, when i get my Fi subs, i will have to talk to one of the Installers at my shop and get him to lend me some idmax's so i can do a review of them in the same exact car. Than i will compare them against his car which competes nationally in iasca, he is running Image Dynamics 18" subs from about 98.
  23. not only are you starving the box of port area, but you are starving the port by not giving it enough room to breath, if you want to port it, your best be would probably be a slot port, so you could turn the end.
  24. If you are looking for a great all around woofer i would choose the Bl over the Q, its definitely got enough sq/spl to hold its own from either perspective, and it can handle more power.
  25. nice, i like it.
