Welcome to the IHoP
Lets just say if you know it a refurb and you don't mention it, you're just trying to be shady

Welcome to the IHoP
So the item I got on ebay was a refurb and not BRAND NEW in box as described. The question I asked seller went unanswered, Never provided shipping information but did get to me in a descent time frame. Sound like enough for a neutral feedback?

Then that also bumps up the price tag a couple of thousand... I wouldn't say a couple thousand unless your buying a brand new block I guess, but your right cheap 5.3s are much easier to come by then cheap 6.0s

Welcome to the IHoP
Tom, Have you considered dropping a 5.7 LS1? it seems kind of fitting. If your going 5.3 you might as well bump up to 6.0. Are you going to be running some kind of EFI?

what can i do with 100.4 until upgrade?
You are in pretty much the same boat as I am. I currently have a 100.4 and plan on a 1500 in the future (and plan on the 250.2 *cough**cough*Sundown*cough*) but until then, you can run your comps passive and bridge 3/4 for 360W @ 4 ohms for your sub

Unless the guy is going for a good long term scheme. He did a unit on his truck, posted pics and claimed an 8MPG increase with his silverado. He got 25 MPGs out of it. He is starting to sell a kit but he's a pretty respected member and has been there over a year. I also haven't heard anything bad about the fitch fuel catalyst, been loooking at that as well.

Adding Sub to the BIB
Sweet. You think the MAW-10 will do fine on 180 Watts in a small room or should I look for another driver? I guess I need to start designing a box

CSS FR125 BIB Build Log
Was rereading this and noticed I never really answered this question so i figured I'd bring this from the dead. But yes, the FR125's are a very on axis driver. Sitting directly in the center of my couch really increases the overall response of the driver. On axis you have a much more crisp high end and definitely more midrange response.

Adding Sub to the BIB
School is starting and I am looking to add a Sub to my BIB's. For amp duty I'm probably going with a Dayton plate amp (180 @ 8ohm and 240 @ 4ohm) Sub duty is another question... I have 2 options for the sub box. Option 1 - Small sealed under the corner table. I would guesstimate ~1.5 cubes net Option 2 - Shallow wide ported enclosure. Can pull out the couch little bit and create quite a bit of space behind it because of the way the wall and couch is designed. Don't have any good measurements but I think 4 cubes would not be a problem, and box can be as wide as a couch. I'm really leaning toward option 1 at the moment. I don't watch many movies so commanding low low end isn't much of a problem. A sealed box would be easy to carry in and fit universally. Currently I have a MAW-10 I was planning on putting in my truck but I could use it for this and buy a SD-1 V2 from Sundown for the truck, but the MAW could only run 8 ohm so it would be limited to 180 watts. This would make me really be NeonRider's copy cat , so if you have any input it Neon would be greatly appreciated. So whatcha think?

help with a little 2 way HT
I did a 4.5" BIB setup and in my dorms they get plenty loud off of 15 Watts but in my buddies big living room I can max them out with 20-25 watts and want a lil more. I friggen love the BIB's though. Such a simple project and so much fun to build. I will be adding a small sub this year for my room
