New beer for me tonight... Ziegen Bock Amber - An American style bock beer brewed in the German tradition. A smooth flavorful balanced beer worthy of a Texan Texas!

After workout food/drink
I was wondering if there is anything I should eat/drink shortly after my workouts (particularly days I'm in the gym lifting). Most of the time my workouts end at 9:00 PM so something light and around 100 calories would be preferred.

Tell us your personal fitness goals
Right now, I'm hoping to lose about 20 lbs, and build some definition in my body. I'm really hoping to mostly drop my stomach fat. By the end of the workout program I am doing I should be running 2-3 miles at a time.

The Warm Up
Reading from your post is seems static stretches are pretty much all bad, but I just can't seem to see that. We start all workouts with a series of static stretches and it really seems good to limber things up. I also prefer to wind down my night with some static stretching before bed...

Welcome to the IHoP
We might need to work something out. Be a year or three, probably a year and a half before I really try to start selling anything. What I'd like to do is keep it as a part time fabrication business on the side, make custom speakers for home audio along with custom entertainment centers and anything like that. I think I have enough skill to make something that is well constructed, last, be aesthetically pleasing, and at a very reasonable price. Then again, I could be completely wrong, who knows. I know you have the skill and I think with as much heart and dedication you are willing to put into it you can make something that sounds twice as good and looks twice as classy for the same or less price.

Welcome to the IHoP
We have a ton of forums here already I am an advocate for health and wellness, but I'm not sure if a separate section it would attract enough attention. I would use it though ... and I would include pieces from my dissertation as well as actual lecture notes. YOu know, I tend to agree with you on this point, but seeing you type about working out, actually motivates me, and that is my biggest problem. I wake up ever day and I feel like chit. Then I see something you say about people being lazy and subdued when it comes to working out and it gets me off my ass. Then I go and do a little exercise and I feel great the rest of the day. If you had a blog or something I could follow everyday, that would be the biggest help in the world to me, as just your words are enough to motivate me, and it's hard for me to find motivation these days. I often sit and think back to my younger days when you could see every small hint of definition in every muscle of my body, and that gets me hyped up for a litttle bit to actually get back to that. And then I have to go and fix something, but when you start talking about it, I actually do it. I don't know why, but it's kinda like a big brother saying, "do it, or else." Perfect motivation for me. I'm sure others could use your advice and inspiration to get off their lazy asses as well. We'll call it, Dr. Captain Canada's motivational exercise (Fat, lazy Americans)! X2, Just reading about it gives me new ideas and therefore motivation. Also the scientific part interest me as well as I know exactly what my body is going through. On the same topic I keep a page I found out of a magazine on my wall. Its Lance Armstrong just off a bike and looking tired. The caption states, "Whatever your 100% looks like, give it."

Usually the more advanced do. I'm just a puny american. A stupid southerner as well Gah how I wish metric system was #1 in school especially at the university level because all other lvls would follow suit ?? I graduated in 96 and we only used the metric system, what backwoods place are you at??? Lamar University AKA Harvard on the Neches But I don't really think any of the other colleges in the area do straight metric. Don't get me wrong metric is used a lot (probably more so than English) but I still think there is too much emphasis on the English system. In my Thermodynamics book there was an English section at the end of each problem set (at the end for a reason?? I think so) and all it did was make things harder than they should be because things required some stupid ass conversions. Can I buy a metric roll out tape measure somewhere?
