  1. will do, thanks for the advice, ill head there soon. i might do a little reasearch before i post. dont think thats allowed. i was thinking of going with "da blow" by lil jon All doors and windows must be completely closed if im not mistaken don't get this poor guy dq'ed haha, yea i definitely dont want to get DQ'd in my first event.
  2. i will be entering my first bass race comp on may 20th. a friend of a friend was talking crap about my system, saying its nothing compared to his. so, i found a local termpro sanctioned comp and challenged him lol. i have a fully loaded 15" BTL powered by a ma audio hk4000d, 4 cubes ported box tuned to 34hz, 2 yellow tops, HO alternator, big 3. from what im told he's got 2 JL 12W6v2's powered by some crossfire amp(s) in a ported box, with no electrical upgrades. i have an 05 explorer and he has a newer jeep grand cherokee. it might be a close match up, but i have a feeling that i will take the win, at least from him. i will post my number(s) and also the results. im open for predictions though
  3. you might be able to pick up 2 ma audio hk4000d's for around $800.
  4. i have a ma audio hk4000d on mine...it makes the BTL wang!
  5. i have a ma audio hk4000d on my fully loaded 15" BTL
  6. x3, great idea
  7. well, i was finishing up my system from 7pm to 12:45am last night. i got everything hooked up and wired. i tuned everything by ear and am going to tune it with a DMM tonight. i will say that this thing wangs! "da blow" by lil jon and "gimme that" by paul wall are insanely loud on this set up. talk about an instant head ache lol. im competing in a bass race comp on may 20th where ill be able to get it metered. ill post the results asap.
  8. thats awesome!
  9. just decided to use different grounds. there will be gounds to both the frame and chassis.
  10. i have a 15" fully loaded BTL being powere by a modded ma audio hk4000d that i picked up from scottie. im still in the process of getting my install complete, just need to hook up the second batt and swap alternators. i havent gotten a chance to use it yet, but when i do im going to post in here for sure. you can tell its a well made product, and for the cost you cant beat it. im a Fi customer for life. im thinking about adding another 15 in the near future...
  11. thats cool
  12. that is what i was going for, simple yet still looks good. my other set up i had a huge fibergalss box, the amps mounted under plexi, and some neons to light up the amps. nothing against that, but it just was too much. then i upgraded my system and decided to just apply the KISS method
  13. i discussed where a good place to ground my amps was with the service tech at my dealership (he also messes around with car audio) and we worked it out pretty good. its kinda complicated, but ill post pics if i can or explain it at least. id rather have more ground than not enough, just my $.02 that is the one thing that i forgot to add in my diagram. im going with a 250A fuse, being as my HO alt is 200A and the max on my 1/0 is 300A, i opted to go right in the middle.
  14. i have another question on top of the ones already posted, where should i ground my amps? i was going to go to the chassis, but some one said the seat bolt would work...i have a ma audio hk4000d and hk398
  15. oh, i gotcha. thats just the chrome.
  16. nope, i didnt do any plexi on this install. i had some on my last, but will never do it again unless its at least 1/2" thick...i have a tendency to break it lol. since my digi is down i will have to borrow my friends, but i can definitely get some better pics up.
  17. nope, no need. the amps themselves have internal fans, and also there is nothing over them so they are free to breathe. they are also not enclosed, or held in place, by any wood, just the screws.
  18. here are some pics of the install, we still need to wire up the battery and ground the amps. heres what in it: kenwood ddx-6017, fully loaded 15" fi BTL, ma audio hk4000d modded to 1 ohm stable, ma audio hk398, 6.5" alpine type x componants in the front and no rear fill, theres going to be 2 yellow tops under the hood, 200A HO alt, and big 3 with 1/0ga. http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e215/mos..._25_07_2022.jpg http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e215/mos..._25_07_2021.jpg http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e215/mos..._25_07_2020.jpg
  19. anyone have any suggestions?
  20. im adding a second yellow top under the hood. since i have the yellow tops with the side terminals as well as the top i would be able to utilize those as well. so i planned on going from battery to battery using 0ga using the side terminals. then i was going to use the top of the one batt to go 0ga to the alt and 0ga to the body. this was one going to be charged while the other is discharged. the second batt is going to have 0 and 4ga running to the amps, and 0ga to the ground. does this diagram look correct? as in are all of the wires going to the right places? btw, im doing the big 3, thats why the engine is on there.
  21. my new set up: SUB: fully loaded 15" Fi BTL SUB AMP: ma audio hk4000d modded to 1 ohm stable (thanks scottie) SPEAKER AMP: ma audio hk398 SPEAKERS: alpine type x componants in the front, no rear fill HU: kenwood DDX-6017 ELECTRICAL: big 3 with 1/0, 2 yellow tops, HO alternator
  22. well, i signed back up after the crash and i figured id share my progress here. i have a 15" fully loaded BTL in a 4 cubes @ 34 hz box, ma audio hk4000d modded to .7 ohms, type x componants, ma audio hk398. the box is finished and carpeted and now im going to start on the false floor, install the second batt, upgrade the wiring, and tune it up. im going to be getting an alternator within the next month.
