Hmmm this got me thinking, I wonder if a MAW12 recone kit will fit a MTX Thunder 8000 I have laying around. Both Have 2.5" coils, could you post the Inner Diameter and Outer Diameter of the MAW12 coils or PM me with them. Thank You

Gonna bring this back up because it cant be expressed enough. I bought the unnamed prototype amp from Jacob and thought I was having a problem with it and got to talk with Jacob and figured out the problem. He Was very helpful in figuring out the problem I had. It was said before 5 or 1000 dollars and Ill and warranty or no warranty he stands behind his products and will help you figure out your problems with them.

Is the sub still in the box? if so pull it out and check all connections from box terminals to speakers. If its not in the box check the tinsel wires on the sub particularly where they are soldered to the speakers terminals check for any fraying. Or if possible take your measurement from the tinsel wires right where they enter the cone See if you get a good measurement then.

I never thought of taking the logos off but I wont. Like with anything pictures do not do any of them justice they all match really well. the 2300 is a little dirty from sitting in a display case for a long time. It will be a awhile before I get to actually adding the front stage but I think I have enough knowledge to get started with with the exception of what speakers to choose but Ill ask that at a later time when I'm ready.

1rst is my old USAcoustics 2200f plans for it will be for tweeters 200X2 @ 4ohms 2nd is A newly bought (brand new in box) USAcoustics 2300f planed for mids 300X2 @ 4ohms 3rd is A Sundown Audio unnamed prototype for the sub stage 1400 @ 1ohm If you haven't guessed it I have plans to go active but that could be a long ways away as money is kinda tight. But it should be a fun project. I will be posting for some recommendations for speakers but that is a long ways away as I need to get the electrical built up and some sound deadening first.

<------- I still got my 2200f The whole reason I brought up this question is because there is a 2300f at a local audio shop that is brand new and I kinda would like to get the price down and have knowledge to negotiate. I kinda of have plans of getting the 2300f to match the 2200f for an active front stage.

Oh Yeah forgot about them that could be left over stock. Even their security product aren't updated though. well if the were still around would they still honor the audio amplifiers warranty I guess is what im getting at.

^ hes faster then me. Yeah went and did some research they are the same except for the back light which would be nice but would also drain the battey faster. It is cheaper on ebay but I dont buy any thing from ebay even if it if a little cheaper just something Ive got against ebay and fear getting screwed.

Well Ive wanted an oscope for a while now and crt scopes are a little out of the price range even used ones. Im wondering if the hand held ones with the lcd screens would have enough resolution to see a clipping sine wave. Ive seen the video how the were showing how bass boost is bad but cant really tell how good the resolution of the lcd screen due to video quality. Ive used crt scopes in electronic classes and wondering how lcd compares to crt So who here has used the lcd scopes and are they sufficient enough for car audio. It isn't that hard to fix it is just being able to find the parts like lead wire the reason I "fixed" them so many times is because I couldn't find lead wire and tried many different kinds of wire. And in the process of taking the dust cap off so many times the subs are looking pretty ugly hence the reason I would like to have them reconed.

You are right people do bash mainstream just because its mainstream but all I was saying is that I had bad experience with their 8000s (the tinsel leads broke twice once under warranty then on the refurbs that they sent me) that it turned me off of their subs. I loved the 5000s that I had but broke them from user error. Heck I still am running a 801D at 1 ohm their amps are strong. Silverado23 If you want MTX go with it they do have good products and I have heard that the new lines 7500 8500 9500 are big improvements over the older 6000s & 8000s and shouldn't have the problems they once had I just had a bad experience with the old lines. I would go with two seperate amps one for speakers and one for subs.

at least i'm not the only one....I've got two 8000 10's with broke tinsels, had spoke with scott about reconing them into 12's a few months back. Now i'm leaning toward 15"s Scott, if i were to take one appart what measurments would you need me to get? I have a caliper and am not afraid to use it. I think that it might have been a common problem on the 8000, im sorry i ever bought those i was assuming that they would have been better then the 7000s boy was i wrong. Scott I will wait to see if weasles information from the caliper grants them to be reconable cause I would much have them reconed. I replaced the leads on them about 5 times each woofer just cause i couldn't find the right kind of wire. If they aren't able to be reconed then i will shoot you an email for lead wire.

I wouldn't recommend anything from MTX anymore I lost all respect for MTX subs after the 8000s that I had kept failing on me. Their amps are nice and put out good power but they are over priced now. I would try anything from a company on this forum before MTX.

I have one and I love it I haven't had the ground noise problem either. Just using it as a reguler head unit you have quit a bit of control I can't wait to go active and see what everyone else is talking about.

The new subs are looking good especially the havocs. Now I have some more woofers to throw into the options that I cant decide between already.

I kinda would like to know also. I have a chance to pick an old 15" XXX up at a fairly good price I understand that the are totally different but would like to know how they compare musically?

Is there any update on this situation? Also hows everyone liken them so far.
