  5. This is after 3 coats of laquer. Wetsanding will be next. I know you can't see it in the pictures well, but in person you can still see the woodgrain, which I think is desireable. Let me know what you guys think. CT
  6. Hmm, quite possibly. I can't promise a fully-detailed, step by step deal, but i can get pics and descriptions. We'll see how this turns out bud. We still may be able to set something up when it comes to trying them out. CT pics and descriptions are good. dad is looking at buying an air compressor. so i'll have acces to all the tools i need. Cool man, I should be going to do some more paint today, pics later on. CT

  9. My cam batteries died, so I only got one shot of them today. I should have more pics in the next couple of days. I have a process I'm going to take to get them to really shine, right now this is just with 2 coats of paint. Read the post above this one also, if you get a chance. CT
  10. I knew about it. Cool little hole-in-the wall with all kinds of overstocks and such. I want to buy things from them. The little 8's look cool and so do the ribbon tweets. CT
  11. May I ask why? What set did you hear? CT
  12. Website should be finished within the next week guys, I look forward to it's launch. Thank you guys for all the interest in this thread. As time goes on I hope to expand the business. I figure it's a good time to explain how I want to get started here. Ok, now I understand that buying subwoofers can be a pretty easy process. A lot of people have them and like to write reviews, take pictures, talk about customers service and so on. With a review it gives people an idea of what they are getting into. With that said I'm going to need some people to review the speakers I build. I'm always willing to give my input, but an unbiased opinion is always better. Ok, so here's the deal. I'm going to be building a couple of different prototypes, and this current build is one of them. The next build will be a 3-way, I believe, utilizing a Dayton DA-175 midbass, Aura 2" Whisper, and Dayton ND20FB up top. I also have a set of Adire SF-7's I may swap the Daytons with, but currently I haven't gone much into the design phase of it. I will also build a higher end set using the Vifa XT large format tweeters, and either Peerless Exclusive mids, or Seas CA18RLY/RNX. I will demonstrate different build techniques and finishing styles on each set. Now I need some knowledgeable members that will write reviews. Basically I will ship out a set of speakers to a given member, let them audition them for 2 weeks or so, and all I ask is an in-depth review. If you are interested in participating please PM me, or email me here. Thank you so much CT
  13. I've seen a veneer that looks like a patchwork of similar light colored panels (about 2" high by 6" long) and it looked amazing on a really high-end speaker enclosure. Only problem is that now I don't remember where I saw it and no one that sells veneers seems to know what the hell I am talking about. That was probably the best looking veneer I have ever seen used though. Sounds rather interesting, i'd be interested in seeing that technique. Hey guys, I should be laying some paint down tommorow, so expect some pics. It won't be pretty tommorow though, it will only be a base coat. CT
  14. I'm a sucker for all black man, really I am. The next set I build will probably be stained, using MDF and veneer. Birch really isn't stain friendly, it tends to come out blotchy. Man after my own heart... What you really need to do is some hardwood TM boxes, some nice Walnut would look excellent. I'm a sucker for walnut... I'm going to do some veneer's here pretty soon. All types of veneers are available. Hey, if anyone has any ideas toss them up, I'm open to all kinds of ideas. CT
  15. $$$ for the project, maybe the 20's... ok so what are the top 3 as of now??? Theres a Dayton equiv. of the MDT29 that is supposed to be almost the same... *trying to find the link* *edit* http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cf...tnumber=275-075 Do we have a winner??? Go for it mang, looks like a nice tweet. CT
  16. Adrian, thank you for the compliment Well, originally I was going to. But being that the drivers are black I thought black laquer would look sexy. I'm a sucker for all black man, really I am. The next set I build will probably be stained, using MDF and veneer. Birch really isn't stain friendly, it tends to come out blotchy. CT
  17. I little primer action CT
  18. Flakko, I used that stuff, what you need is MEKP, it is pretty common, I believe you can even buy it at Home Depot/Lowes There's distributors online as well. Should be relatively inexpensive. CT
  19. Wow that is cheap, but does not take much power. Cheap tweets are cool, and sometimes you can really find a "diamond in the rough." Sometimes, though, you run into consistency issues, and cheaply built tweeters. Am I pushing you away from buying the Hi-Vi's? Of course not. They could be a solid performer. Hell, you can buy expensive tweeters with consistency problems. We can give you all of our advice, and personal experience, but in the end it's up to you and what you want to spend. Ideally what you want is a silk dome with a flat FR graph, low FS (1khz), no crazy resonance peak in a rather inexpensive package. (Haha, Dane Cook) CT
  20. Aaron, http://www.northcreekmusic.com/Drivers/NorthD25.pdf Maybe this might interest you also. CT
  21. http://www.madisound.com/cgi-bin/index.cgi...08&pid=1935 Maybe this one, It can extend low enough, with no issues, for only 2-3 bucks more. CT
