How to clean subwoofer motor for recone?
OK I suppose I will try that tonight. Any less PIA ways to clean the gap? If not then I suppose I will continue the sticky note and tape method. I've seen it done quite a bit, haven't seen any other ways

How to clean subwoofer motor for recone?
The guy I bought it from was clearly an idiot. First he thought it was an HC. The HC has a very large top plate and is wider in general. Second he cracked the dustcap, it was just a paper cap no big deal, said it was 'blown apart' from the power. To fix said 'blown apart' dustcap he took a peice of oddly shaped fleece and did the worst fiberglass job on it I ever saw. But I knew all this going into it. I bought it because I wanted an SE motor. All in all I believe it was user error. The motor looks centered and no magnets are shifted. I've tried scrapping it with a razor with no luck

How to clean subwoofer motor for recone?
I have a 03 Re Audio SE motor. I plan to use this as a learning experiance. I am in contact with Nick@fi about getting parts to build it into a 15. Anyway, I was wondering how people go about cleaning the CA off the top plate? I tried scraping it but that got me nowhere especially with the magnetic field pulling on it. Is there anything that breaks down CA glue that won't harm the motor? Also I cleaned the gap with sticky notes and a skinny wooden rule with masking tape on it. Is there any other ways I don't know about for future refference? The gap is clean and taped up now but it was a PIA. The SE was a 10 previously and suffered from coil rub. And it had shavings inside the gap like crazy. Thanks Josh

When Do You Recone A Sub
It is also a good option if you swap vehicles and the woofer you have is too big. Can be cheaper pending on the price of the woofer and recone.

Hi, I'm signing in I suppose
My name is Josh. I've been viewing this forum for a while and just decided to join up tonight. I'm over on CA, ROE, carstereos, icix, and a bunch of escort/zx2 sites(own teamzx2). I have a 99 escort zx2 Currently my audio in it is pioneer premier 670mp lightning 2 gauge running back to a knu distro 8 gauge out to a merlin m2130(1993) the m2130 is powering my re audio re6.5 comps I had a hifonics bx1000d but sold it to get a us amps equivalent. But then saw the CES and decided to wait until the new merlins come out to order. So I am without sub stage right now. My collection currently is 2 us amps usa50 (one from 96 and one from 99) merlin m2130 (1995 bnib) 12" custom tc9 built by david at re -dual 2, 2 stiff spiders, MT cone/cap/tensils 10" custom tc3hp built by david at re -dual 2, 3 stiff spiders, MT cone and tensils, carbon fiber dust cap 3 re 8s. I got bored and swapped one of the dustcaps out to a XXX cap I had(it took trimming) 1 2003 SE motor. Bought it a long time ago. Didn't have any plans for it. Hoping to build it shortly into a 15. I sent out an email tonight about it And just ordered another tc9 motor for when I get bored next time I've actually got 3 zx2s. But this is the only one that is on the road right now and the only one with audio for now
