Wait, I think I misunderstood your post. You said the RATING of the subwoofer is useless information. I was thinking you said that the amount of rms you put to a sub has no correlation to the output of the driver.

Check all your connections. Make sure your grounds are all good and that all the wires are in the terminals the best they can.

Put your pos wire in the outter pos terminal. Neg wire in outter neg terminal.

I would think that wouldn't be true though.... If I was switching from an SSD 18" to a BTL 18", even on the same power it should be louder. Why? What in particular makes you say that? Better power handling. If it is louder it won't be a crazy difference. If you want a good noticeable increase, a good choice would be 2 15s in a big ass box.

I'm not thinking your going to gain a big increase in output since its the same cone area and the same power. Maybe try another box.

Buy a digital mulitmeter. It'll come in handy A LOT. This way you wont have to go to an installer. I'm not sure if they make custom boxes. If they don't, I'd suggest talking to DC Creations. The owner goes by Pro Rabbit on here.

What prefab enclosures are you looking at? DC Creations makes custom boxes how you want for fairly inexpensive. Check him out.

Buy my Zcon 12s and my crescendo bc2k Either sub you pick you will be happy. Also put your port on the side. It'll give the subs more room.
