  1. Is this the Z series SQ line? Or is one of the other lines more designed for SQ oriented applications? Im wanting a couple Sundown SQ drivers badly for a sealed project in the near future.
  2. Actually it is a great sounding driver...like the OP admitted. And what a shock, here you are again to flame an ED product... Im not defending ED in general, just the driver which i believe is one of the best SQ drivers out there for the money.
  3. Gah sorry I sounded rude. I just don't like being called "dense". This was a "review" of the build quality of this individual driver which i agree was sloppy. Anyway lets keep it civil.
  4. Are YOU dense? Mine looks nothing like that so what do you want me to say? You make it sound like they all look like this...which is retarded. I can say the same thing from drivers i've bought from any other company but im not that dumb and know every now and then a driver gets by QC which is less then up to standards. It happens to EVERY company in EVERY form of business who sell any form of product.
  5. I understand where you and the OP are coming from, but the problem is this is all sampled from an abused, blown driver. If it was bought brand new from ED then i would understand. Bottom line is we have no idea how much power it received, enclosure it was in, or other environmental variables that were involved, with this driver(he said he bought it from a noob). Again mine has NONE of the signs this driver has regarding the glue, dust cap, spider damage etc. Can you see where im coming from here? I just think its a poor example to base an opinion on. The only thing i see that someone may not want is the thin spiders. However this is a SQ driver not a massive SPL sub. I do find the break down of the driver interesting and wish more people would do the same with other drivers.
  6. All i can say is mine is fine. No loose dust cap, no glue on the spider or rips in spider(lol abuse) etc. But then again i bought it new and in working condition so who knows. Giving you the benefit of the doubt(even though this same post is copy/pasted on other forums) lets say you got sloppy built driver prior to being abused...this isn't something new in the 12v world(for any company) and certainly doesn't represent all shipped 13av.2s. It sucks i know and should be something that QC SHOULD pick up on, but this "review" was quite skewed from the start. Again the driver speaks for itself when operational which is something this review lacks. Its the only ED product i own btw so im not going to say im some ED fanatic or anything but i am quite pleased with its performance for the cost.
  7. I don't really understand this "review". First off its a blown driver abused by a previous owner. That could account for the loose cone as other issues illustrated. My 13a cone is just fine and doesnt have "smeared" glue on the spiders. Also im not sure what you are trying to review here...the build quality or the cosmetics of a damaged driver? Who knows how the previous owner treated the driver and what damage was resulted in its misuse. I still say its one of the best SQ drivers you can get for the money. Id like to see your review of one that works?

Just wanted to say thanks to Jacob for this B Stock 15" Nightshade. Came in about 1 day, and UPS managed to get it here in one piece(which isnt always the case). Its def one of the larger drivers i have seen 1st hand. It'll be going in a box slightly under 4cuft tuned to 40hz for spl off a SAZ 1500D. Ill follow up with a review in the following days. Here are a couple pics i took right out of the box. Again thanks Jacob.
  9. Uh perhaps people should of been more respectful of my original post. Its a 2 way street ya know? If you post anything positive regarding an ED product on this forum you get flamed out the ass. I dont care what people say of their management...im just rating their product which regarding the 13av.2 is solid.
  10. So are you saying you own both or you just talking out your ass like everyone else here? Thought so... Again i seriously doubt anyone in this thread owns a 13av.2...you would never stoop so low as to purchase an ED product correct? So how did you get one if you refuse to buy any of their products?
  11. If you are running the amp @ 2ohm you want a D1. Id recommend the Q, SSD or the new Mag btw.
  12. Considering nobody in this thread has owned/heard both 1st hand ill give you my unbiased opinion. Ive owned both and have to say the 13av.2 is a better driver overall. I have mine off a SAZ 1500D, 2cuft @ 30hz and it loves it. The response below 40hz is absolutely nuts for a driver of its size. The Q is a great driver as well and either choice is a winner...but the 13av.2 is just a better driver between the two regardless of opinions about the company.
  13. Never use bass boost. I honestly dont know why manufactures continue to put that option on amps...
  14. Incredible price. If i was in need of a 2 channel id jump all over this deal.
  15. Once you go active you never go back.
  16. Easiest and cheapest thing to do would be to get a new HU. For a 2 way + sub id recommend the Alpine 9887. Can be had for under $300. Then you would need a 4 channel amp and id ditch those coaxials. Id at least want 6.5" mids if you are going to attempt this...so if you can fit that in your door id pick up a DIY driver from madisound.com or something.
  17. Thats just an urban myth. All subs are just as "fast" regardless of size.
  18. I sold mine for $220 on ICIX, which is the same price i bought it for used over a year ago. If your looking for a used one they pop up there from time to time. Also check for used or refurb'd SAE 1000Ds...think some were sticky listed on the sundown forums here on SSA.
  19. I highly recommend DB-r.com. Bought my 1500D refurb from Chris and he was a great guy to talk to via email. He sent me amp gut pics of the amp he was shipping me and gave me a great deal of info regarding the refurb process. Really cool guy(which i was directed to from this forum). Awesome amps at a great price.
  20. Solid amps for the money. Underrated, but are not high end nor built with top of the line components, however i would buy one over Hifonics any day. Ive owned an Nine.1 and Nine.2. You can find a Nine.1 used for $200-250 easy....prob best bang for the buck at that price.
  21. How would one compare to a Fi BL/BTL per say? The price difference is pretty big...
  22. dre3k78 replied to AP Zoutes's topic in General Fi
Around 2cuft per driver is what i was told.
  23. What are the box specs?
  24. x2. Port them for more output. They also do well in IB. You've tried yours that way?? As Jim said, Loud & IB do not go hand in hand actually quite the opposite. If you want more bass you need more space. No i havent ran them IB but have read about a guy on team Zapco who competes in SQ and runs a 13ov.2 IB and does really well. Also i agree loud and IB dont go together. I was just addressing the original question about if they'd be good for an IB application.
  25. I really like my PDX. Very small footprint that fits easily under my driver seat. Always runs cool and puts out over the rated power(more like 124w x 4). Im running DLS UX26s and love em...would of gone with some Iridiums but cant fit those huge tweets in my factory sail location. Down the road ill prob mess with some DIY drivers(SEAS, Peerless, Dayton etc..) but these sound great for me for now.
