  1. Ben doesnt work at ED anymore(in Newton). That should make you happy. He may pop in from time to time but has left to start a custom home HT company of sorts.
  2. x2. Port them for more output. They also do well in IB.
  3. The 16ov.2s are great subs. Ive ran 2 before. They arent SPL subs but do get loud and stay clear. Also they dont require a large enclosure. Id recommend them or the new slim Mags.
  4. Chances are you dont wanna run a rear stage, just focus on your front stage. But if you HAVE to have rear fill you can run them off the HU amp but will prob sound like crap and screw with your staging. Also i read in the 9887 manual if you run in "3 way" mode and also run a rear fill off the HU you lose the ability to fade front/rear, so you cant really lower or raise the volume of the rear fill if you run it. So if it sounds like crap you cant turn them down etc....might as well just say screw the rear fill imo. The advantages of an active set up is to get more power to your drivers(making them sound better) that would otherwise be lost in the passive xover, also you can tune each driver with the 9887's EQ, TC(time correction), slope and various xover points to your liking. A 4 channel amp would work fine for a 2 way front stage. 2 channels to the tweets(1 channel per tweeter) and 2 channels to the mids(1 channel per mid). I run an Alpine PDX 4.100 to my front stage.
  5. Funny vid. I was thinking when the vid 1st started it looks like he threw the sub though that window and you did lol. Hope you didnt cut up your hands doing it. Also cool to give that guy some advertising for his auto glass service....nice touch.
  6. Thought id update this with a small review. Ive had the 13av.2 for about 2+ weeks installed now and im really loving it. I swapped out my Nine.1 for a SAZ 1500d(which i love as well) and its a perfect match for this sub. My box is about ~2cuft tuned to 31hz, weighing some 70+lbs with double baffle and flush mounting which makes for a perfect home for the 60lb beast. The lows on this sub are just freakish...it seems more like a 15 or 18" driver in the sub 40hz region and plays crystal clear. It isnt a SPL sub by any means but was never meant to be, but gets rather loud regardless. If you are looking for LOW and i mean LOW bass with authority then this is the driver for you. Having a beefy front stage helps a great deal as well because you are going to want to cross this driver over pretty low. If you are looking for a SPL sub to peak in the upper 40s or 50hz range this isnt what you want to get. Well there is my small review. If anyone has any questions please feel free to ask away. I need to post a small review of my 1500d here as well. This amp is extremely nice, and im glad i decided to swap for it.
  7. I have the same HU and im running active. Basically active is bypassing the passive crossovers that come with component sets(or you can buy DYI drivers separately w/o crossovers) and set the xovers manually via the HU. For example my current set up i have my sub playing 20-70hz, my mids 70hz-3000hz and my tweets play 3k-20k+. There is a switch on the bottom of the 9887 to set to "3 way" which is what i described above. Of course you are going to need to amp each driver, so a solid 4 channel is ideal for most people. 2 chan to tweets and 2 to mids.
  8. The new tinsels are on all Fi subs not just the BTLs. I just got 2 15 SSDs and they have the the new tinsel leads as well.
  9. Think there was a SAE 1000d refurb in one of the sticky threads on the sundown forum for like $200ish...looks like a good deal.
  10. Ill prob cross mine over around 60-70hz. Dunno the review seems pretty positive to me, but everyone reads numbers differently. I wish they did a test on music as well and reviewed how it actually sounds.
  11. Aren't the ShivaXs only D8 VC subs with only about 600 rms rating? Kinda different sub all together...
  12. I like how it looks other then the logo on the cone.
  13. Here is a review at the DYImobileaudio forums from extensive testing: http://www.diymobileaudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=32810
  14. I still think the name calling is immature. Id like to think people are better then that, but id imagine most are teenagers so its expected...especially online.
  15. x2 Hate to say it but lose the rims and ghetto image. I know its your "style" and all but its gonna attract police more often then not. Sucks i know but its how it is...
  16. I posted in that thread on ICIX as well...of course under a different name, and said pretty much the same thing. I think it should be warranted as well. Again i havent had any problems personally with ED yet but i dont think i will because i dont plan to buy anything more from them. I wanted a 13av.2 and now i have one, so i dont see any reason to purchase anything else they offer because i dont need it. I think it does look bad on ED's part. Aznboi has been a long time customer of theirs and has posted a great deal of useful info in their forums and i dont like to see him get ripped off as well. Im also trading out my Nine.1 for a SAZ 1500d that i have on the way. So the only ED item ill have in my car is edead and a 13av.2(box in construction). Id still recommend ED for mid grade / budget drivers, and solid amps for the money but if you want high end gear id look elsewhere.

I sent an email asking this but never got a reply. I was wondering if i could seal up a SSD 15? If so what would be an ideal size for the enclosure? I checked the specs under the SSD section in the sticky thread but all i could find was "we are still testing sealed enclosures" etc. Thanks.
  20. Stop buying their product. Pretty simple. I have ED gear ive never had a problem with but if that was me i would just quit buying their hardware and supporting them. They should warrant a product that was used under the givin specs provided by the manufacture. Givin the SQ10 is what? A $70 driver? I wouldnt expect it to be very dependable tbo. Were you present when the driver failed? Are you positive there was no tampering with the settings?
  21. Very nice set up. No rattles, and sounds very clean. I cant stand SPL cars that just rattle like hell and sound like chit. More annoying then impressive really. Again nice work!
  22. When did i go after anyone? Wtf are you talking about? Get off your high horse and lose the elitist attitude man.
  23. Im not being aggressive at all. Im just supporting a product that has been good to me, what is wrong with that? I do the same for any other product i run. Im sorry i dont fall into the majority of the "members" of this site so give me a break. You want me to hate on a product and company that hasnt given me a reason to yet, im sorry im just not going to follow that ridiculous notion. BTW i dont think Chris has anything to prove to anyone, get real.
  24. How is it his "historical hole"? Chris didnt even work for ED at the time when Ben was doing his so called "bad business" practices or whatever. He simply came here to defend some more bogus info on pre orders for the 13av.2. Also i have no brand boner, i run and support lots of different gear. Maybe you should relax and stop being so quick to bash or jump down someone's throat.
  25. Any particular reason why you chose a busy Best Buy parking lot? Not sure if that would be the most ideal location to "impress" people.
