  1. No. Still have 4gauge from rear batt to amp :-(. Fixing that hopefully today.
  2. Ok, so I got an urge. Can't resist actually. Went to garage and pulled box out. Whew what a chore by yourself with 2 zcon's. Shortened amp ground to 2 foot. While I had the box out I pulled subs to double check wiring. Just didn't seem to much louder than the other kickers. After grabbing iPad to look at previous post where someone(can't remember but thanks) put the correct wiring diagram in and whala. Had them wired wrong. Wired correctly and reinstalled. Had to test out even though it's 11:30pm. Whoa. What a difference. My eyes hurt bad and my knees where rattling. Omg is all I can say about the z's. And the voltage came up to 12.7-8. I reset the gain with my dd1 and can now put back up where originally was. Before I had to lower to stop protect from coming on. Thanks for all the help and can't wait to get more 0gauge. Now I'm really addicted and want more! Thinking about another 2500d and another battery!!!!!
  3. Ok. Thanks for the help. I'm goin to get some more 0gauge and re do the ground and also the positive. Should I ground the batt in the back to the frame also?
  4. I was thinking that. Should I ground the amp where it is mounted? The current ground wire is about 4 foot long. From batt to amp. Should I ground the batt to the frame and the amp to the frame also? Is this the problem with the low voltage? Sorry for all the questions but I'm learning and trying to do it right the first time. Thanks for all the help
  5. Ok. So I put the zcon's and the 2500d in. Now when I set the gain using the dd1 till I can get ahold of my friend with the oscope, the voltage goes down to 12.5. I have a mechman 270, big 3 in 0 gauge, ran the pos and neg from front to rear batt in 0 gauge, installed fuse in front, fuse in rear, soldered all connections. Rear batt is a diehard platinum 31m marine agm with 205 reserve, but yet when I turn volume up to around 30 out of 35, amp goes into protect mode and volts drop to 12.5. (Radio was o scoped at 40hz and 1k hz and had no clipping evident)Even at 1500 rpm. Am I missing something or is the saz2500d drawing that much amperage? Also speaker wire was 14 gauge. Also ran out of 0gauge so from rear batt to amp was 4 gauge till tomm when I can get some more 0gauge.
  6. So here is the story. I finally have all of the stuff I need to install my saz2500d. Took box out, 4.75^3. Big for my s-10 3 door. Basically an extended cab with a door. Have the zcon's ready to drop in. Put empty box back in to see where I could put my amp and this is where I run into a problem. Box goes from floor to 2" below back window. From driver side door to 5-6" from other side. With subs installed there is 12" of room on top of box. Amp would hang over about 5" or so. The port is on the passenger bottom. If I mount it on the box overhanging the open port side, would that be a problem? What about mounting it inside the box? The port is 20" wide and 24" long. Plenty of room on the "shelf". Would that be possible? I've run out of ideas and now my truck is partially torn apart. Help
  7. Wondering if there are any events or comps or anything around my area? I live in lower southern Maryland, but am willing to travel and meet new peeps! Any help appreciated.
  8. Ok, so this weekend I plan on pulling out my box and putting the zcon's in. 2 12" 1 ohm z's goin in. Gettin the diehard platinum marine sat nite and puttin the saz2500 in. Rt now my box is 4.75^3. Its an angled box to fit behind the seats of my 3 door s-10. I have another 4" of room I can go up. That would be about another 1.4 cubic feet or so. Rt now the port is on the side and has about 78 inches of area. 19.5 wide by 4 tall. Is that enough or should I make it bigger while I have it out? Or should I leave it alone? Also what would be a good gauge of wire to run for the subs? I cannot wait to hear these z's rumble!!!!¡¡¡¡¡
  9. I just bought a pair of zcon's from brownm3, and must say that this was about the easiest transactin I have had for a while. Always kept in communication and always a pleasure to deal with.
  10. Just received my 2 12" zcon's today that I purchased from brownm3. They look gigantious compared to the kickers, lol. They are in super awesome shape and stiff as hell. Super excited and hopefully can get these in this weekend if I can make it to get the batt. Very easy transaction and a big thanks to brownm3 for the sale.
  11. Ha, never mind. I just went to crutch field and they have made a new faceplate.
  12. i understand, ive told him this but he said no the lc2i is too much so we'll go with the PAC and if he isnt truly satisfied he will save up for a nice double din. but the thing is his dad doesnt want him to change the headunit considering its basically new, but his dad also doesnt understand that with an aftermarket system he should have a aftermarket radio. thanks man Aftermarket radis are not made forthe Cruz yet I dont think. The face and actual radio are 2 totally separate modules. The actual radio sits below and behind the face or center stack as we call it at the dealer
  13. Sweet, thanks.
  14. So here is the deal. I am on my way to the goal of $900 for the zcon's. Got $650 now. Yay. Question is what ohms should I get? 2 or 1? I have a saz2500z, and I'm using the same box I have now. 4.75^3 @33hz I think. Have to double check. Have a mechman 270 alt, big 3 in 0 gauge, and am gettin a battery as soon as I get the subs. Goal is to be "loud and proud". Lol. That's what my dear friend use to say before he passed. I wanna hit like no one else has around here. That's the ultimate goal!
  15. The urged was suppose to be turned. Lol
  16. I had Ryan at ram-designs do mine. He made the plans and I cut and built it. Very good designs and very easy to read. Was my first box build attempt at a real box and it urged out awesome. He is a very easy person to deal with and was very helpful in helping me with the choice. Highly recommended from me! [email protected] www.ram-designs.com
  17. There's a couple on eBay rt now. Round $330-450.
  18. Not nessasarely a new one if the one I have is good. I like it, but thought the higher preamps would get me better sound quality
  19. I thought it was for sound quality. But if it allows me to turn down the amps and keep same thump, isn't that what the ultimate goal is? To keep gain down and reproduce the same level?
  20. I have a kenwood unit now that I like because of the iPhone interface and the front panel USB. Problem is that it only has 2.5 volt pre-outs. Dont really care of brand as long as it is name brand and reliable. Cd's are a no go as the vibration from the bass just ejects them now. So I'm looking for something that has USB and preferably iPhone compatible and has 4 volt pre outs. Open to all options and wanna stay around $250-$350ish range. Any help appreciated
  21. What does everyone think of a denon DCT-1? I know a friend who has one that i might be able to snag cheap!
