The Official SPL-Labs SPL Meter Group Buy Thread
Me and phi have been talkin about future services and products we would like to do soon and one thing we would like to talk about is meter stands. We may or may not have any by the time your meter ships out from us but we may too We compete in MECA so those who do or will will know that MECA uses a meter stand for everything! IF you are going to use a meter to test yourself and your sanction(MECA for instance) uses a meter stand, then wouldn't it be great to get stands with your meters too? That's what we have been thinking! Of course meter stands aren't hard to make.. but to get everything at once is nice too. We have been talkin about a design for MECA for a meter stand that can "transform" into both an SPL meter stand AND a driveby stand with a 20" attached measured piece from windshield. there is currently no info on when they will be made but we are definitely planning on it pretty soon. For other sanctions, feel free to give us specs or the rulebook so we can make stands for those too.

The Official SPL-Labs SPL Meter Group Buy Thread
The 9th group buy guy we recently added for an RTA is going to have his custom calibrated for a much wider metering range. His will be measurable all the way down to 10hz and up to 22khz. Same amplitude level. This custom adjustment is tacking on an extra $50 charge but will not effect anyone's group buy discount. Yes SPL-Lab does do customization in calibration methods but one should only request it if they really know it's necessary for their goal.

Drive By Testing!
no, hehe, driveby is much harder than that tyoung. Driveby is 6ft away, not 12". Hey Gary, please tell me that 131.6 was just your peak and not your average right?!?! Paul is gonna be dumbfounded if that's legit!

Word on the Street
8 15s should be plenty if he has a large enough vehicle for them... If he's got em all crammed up in somethin... well, sucks for him. Beejay with the 4 15" Wardens should show him up too if he went! I've seen him do over a 159 in bassbox which is insane on just 4 15s.

how to set up a test bench
if u want a bench to test amp output.. u need 12v batteries, not a power supply. Power supply that large would be in the thousands of dollars. U will need a battery charger and the thing that sucks is u will be testing off battery only so the voltage will not be that great on large amps.

The Official SPL-Labs SPL Meter Group Buy Thread
I plan on starting to stay in SSA chatroom for the next upcoming days to answer any questions any of you may have about any of their products and anything else we will be doing in the near future so if you'd rather do it that way, i'll be over there! The group buy is a few orders short for another big discount... I'd recommend asking your local audio shops if they'd be interested in something like this too, just a thought. Once the group buy becomes "Dead" after several days, we may end it early so let's not hope that happens.

should i still consider AQ
if u like it loud then it's for you. From my gatherings... u want it.
-
should i still consider AQ
i ran one off 600w before and it still gets loud. We are just sayin the recommended power ratings are for the maximum power we would suggest, not what it wants.

I'm not for sure. MECA is- Amateur Street Street Modified Radical Basically- AS - car is off, can only use songs, no test tones, no more than 1 extra battery and VERY strict ruling about what material can be used in vehicle... no tape of any kind, no resin, foam, etc... TOTAL install must be in trunk and not protruding. Street - car can be on @no more than 2,000rpm, u can use test tones but install cant be past trunk but can use any type of material to build it and seal it. Modified - ANY mod behind B pillar(door jam) is legal, ANY MOD! unlimited charging capacity and voltage. Radical - Many mods in front of B pillar to certain extents (for the vehicles that prob will never be returned back to stock and be later found in a junkyard, lol) That's the basics. Pick what u like and u can get the specifics about all restrictions to that class.

A user requested to know this question- Can the software print out your logged SPL scores? Answer- At this time it cannot. However, I have gotten word that it is on the "to-do" list of updates to the software. Unlike Tlab software, SPL-Lab software is free to use and so are updates to the software. Updates to the software have been done frequently in the past so those who would like this feature may\will see it later on in the near future. Also, we now have 8 people down for the group buy. SSA Forum - * Bigrank916 - USB/LCD Meter * woodskilla - USB/LCD Meter * oscar r - USB Pro Meter * SexySoundLab - USB Meter Other Forums - * 01SpyderDb23 - USB Meter * 90TalonTSi - USB Meter ROE Forums - * djmatrix313 - USB/LCD Meter * lifesfordeath - USB/LCD Meter Total - 8 (Keep em comin.. the higher the number.. the cheaper the price)

2 12in DC Audio LVL4XLs, 2 stetsom 7ks, 1 2008 Pontiac G6
i know my level4s could take 1750w rated power for about 42sec clipped before they would get real hot.

This is the WORST equipment choice ever.... If you were a N00b! Nice setup... curious as to how your XLs love that power. I know the A-Team burped a single XL off 8kw in Free-Air without any problems... and that's 8kw clamped, not rated. I just run the normal Level 4s.. Rusty tells me about how better the XLs are.. him and others have talked me into gettin a few, just gotta tear my wall down first to accommodate.

Russian SPL Meter next too a TL Comparision vid
Calm down hehe let me tell you why it does that. Before i do, to whoever said to use peak hold on DMM with Hyperdynamics meter- That's not as accurate because in order for that meter to be equivalent to a TL, the reading has to remain steady for 1 full second. For a burst reading... it's not as accurate and yes when i use mine, i make sure it has a steady reading before i record any information from it. OK, now back to the SPL-Lab meter- For those that own a TL, you would know that the TL CAN do this as well. What you are seeing is the "noise floor" in the room. The TL software is set to be very strict at not showing any scores below 120db during a peak hold metering session. It specifically says on SPL-Lab's site that if you are getting measurements below 20hz, you can download the update to their software to suppress this noise and make the meter more accurate under that frequency range. It's possible it's reading something below 20hz or it's simply the noise in the background. Just with the TL, i'm sure you can suppress the readout on their meter too to not display anything below a certain threshold but won't know for certain until i have it in my hands. Remember, the meter is calibrated to be accurate between 120-175db. In all honesty, if you are really only planning on metering a vehicle whose output is under 130db, you do NOT need the SPL meter, you need the RTA meter as it ranges from 90-130db.

Term-lab Alternative
When we get ours. We will be doing numerous pressure testing with the Termlab, SPL-Labs and Hyperdynamics(MakeItLouder) so show how accurate they all are in both real time and peak hold. And possibly average SPL as well.

Loudest in 4 cubes?
tuning below 35hz isn't recommended for AQ subs. I tuned to 38hz and could audibly drop to 32hz before it would start to roll off. Anything below 35hz tuning, the upper 40hz range would suffer. They are capable of dropping LOW while retaining higher tuning. That's why they recommend tuning in the mid to upper 30s. since u only have 4 cubes gross, 2 12s is a no go. I recommend this then- a single DC Level 5 12" off of at least 5kw. I hope he knows what he's doin with the volume control. People like thorshammer has ran these babies with over 10kw on tap daily per level 5 but it has to be clean power. They will get ungodly loud with crazy power but can smoke up quick if left with a dirty signal.... any sub will.

Bxi2610 VS Aq2200d
Better is AQ out of the 2. Even if the Hifonics does a couple hundred more watts, u'd never hear it! AQ has more direct customer service and i trust them more since i've ran there amps for a couple years now.
