  1. u got a link to where this stuff has been tested in an SPL application? Not lowering resonance is a good thing. I'd still like to see a link about it though.
  2. How do you figure? Any time you can increase efficiency it's a win. There's energy being used to excite the mic instead of a vibrating panel. if you weren't worried about it, why on earth would you brace an enclosure? If mlv is a vibration resistant material.. it's possible that it will still hinder performance because it's a soft material. That may not be the OP's goal but i dont see it stated on here. I know removing all panels in a vehicle will actually increase pressure. I'm not an acoustical engineer, just know what i and others see when testing.
  3. i dont know what mlv is, i just know it has something to do with that showdown site. What i do know is if it lowers resonance in a vehicle when it's applied then it will lower pressure levels in a vehicle. Soft materials hinder performance, deadener hinders performance. This is not just my own testing either, i'm speakin for more than just myself. I havent read his threads so just throwin that out there if that's ever anyone's goal.
  4. It also depends on what your goals are too.. I never seen the purpose of using it in this thread either. I am an spl competitor so deadening material is a big no-no if you want high numbers on the mic. If it's not for competition and just for musical enjoyment then it's fine. I just know lots of people on here who may not compete tend to do so eventually with the same car they had when they first became a member. Competing with lots and lots of sound deadening material will only hinder your potential in spl competition. It's not talked about much on here but it's true in lots of vehicles.

  6. well, if u need any help on the when where and how, i'm sure i can help.
  7. your tuning is still off by your specs and your port is weird... I am getting 4.4cubes after port displacement and 4.2 after sub displacement tuned to 35hz... Your box depth is 19.5" but your port depth is 18"???? That only leaves 2.25" of space before it hits the back wall so tuning will be off and choked. I think you need a new box built properly.
  8. yes, that is correct, vertical port.
  9. PS... i replied to your laptop post as well earlier so dont forget to read it
  10. ok, i got the port specs for your current box design- port is 15.5x3.75 Internal Volume is 4.3cuft NET Port specs measuring from port opening on driver side- Port opening 15.5" deep x 3.75" high From opening inside, measure 3.75" back and build port wall 15.5" deep x 10" tall mounted on the floor. From that port wall, measure 3.75" back and build this port wall 15.5" deep x 6.25" high mounted underneath double baffle. You can add small 45 corners in this port run and keep it no longer than 2" in either direction. You will have 0.1 cuft left over for bracing. That should be enough.
  11. those arent glued yet are they? You suppose to be firing to driver side still, right? I'll get on it real soon.

  13. your box and port specs don't add up. Give me your dimensions of your box and port placement... is your 4.4cubes GROSS or NET? Either way... it's not 31hz... so i need to know specifics... It's possible you are tuned lot higher than u think.
  14. is there such a thing? Also, speaking of threaded rod, what would u guys consider to be the utmost strongest external\internal brace for allthread? There should be a way besides just washers to give the allthread a better grab around the sides of a box. I've seen a 36sqin 1\8" thick aluminum square used but i need to find something VERY strong. My current wall is being considered using angle iron on the outside and running bolts through it to flat steel on the inside.
  15. I made a topic about this a LONG time ago.. It's even linked in my sig AND in this thread.. I serve the largest amount of tones around... It's surprising how some people still can't find what they are looking for...
  16. I want you guys to post things here such as materials and bracing methods used to create the stiffest, non-flex box out there and how it's done. I'm tryin to find some materials so when i go to tear down my wall that i have something to fall back on. I've came across this but the comments are up in the air... Some competitors say it's good... others who haven't used it say it won't hold up... Durock... I had visioned on using 5 layers of 5\16" thick in between 2 layers of 0.75" MDF = approximately 3" thick total material. Then cross brace it with - 0.75" all-thread. Now, i'm looking for the stiffest out there... I had read to pour resin in, on and around each Durock layer wedged in between the MDF to prevent air pockets between each Durock layer. Do you guys have other suggestions for making a very stiff box?
  17. Hey, i got a better oen for ya.. maybe. If you don't have this done by next Saturday... Bring the laptop with you so Sunday when u are still here, i can get all your stuff installed and workin for ya and anything else to fix up your pc.
  18. gimme til the weekend ok?
  19. i've never been down there but it doesnt matter, the WHOLE BLOCK is ours! They dedicated the whole downtown block to the show.
  20. hmm. quality cock mix since 1922. I need to do some cock research and see how long they been keepin people satisfied. Quite possibly.. the best cock for the money.
  21. are they shipping them back or are they gonna try and sell them? How much for some spicy cock coup?
  22. he's prob gonna run it liek that til he saves up money to buy a good battery and alt to run it at full potential.
  23. i think u would BUT... because u have that 100.4 in there too.. I don't think the Big 3 alone will prevent light dimming. You can get by without a battery but u may have some light dimming.
  24. here is the box u want to build- You sure u want to do that? I dont like boxes where the sub fires directly toward the port exit... That's one main reason why long, single shot ran ports are hard to cope with the box due to this. The port in the pick is 24.75" long internally displaced, 25.5" long total. Remaining space- 0.13cubes to equal your 4cubes NET. So, you got plenty of room left for bracing and 45s in the corners.
