High Output Alternator Questions
shutting off the engine will only stop the alternator, not the battery. Battery is primary source and always live, 24\7. PS- i tried looking on your vehicle and all i can seem to find is the charging wire is protected using a fusible link and not an actual fuse.

High Output Alternator Questions
my generalized suggestion was unsuccessful, lol. As long as it wasn't removed, the charge wire IS fused. My stock alt's fusing is in the fuse panel under the hood and is using dual fuses for protection. theoretically, even the remote wire should be fused.. but the headunit would shut off typically before anything crazy happened. That or the wire would melt and become non-conductive at the end due to how small it is. Point is, not fusing a live wire can cause danger consequences when in a wreck or something else unforseen happen.

Oh really? Pop your fuse box open under your hood and locate the largest fuse in there and see what it's protecting.

dual 10's or quad 8's
That is NOT how you measure cone area, not even close.Pi*R*R or for an 8 - 4*4*Pi. Of course that is WRONG too. It is just more right than what you posted. Using the Sd from the drivers is what you need to do. A big surround eats way more into an 8 than a 10. I'd expect the Sd of an 8 to be around 0.02 and the 10 a little bigger than 0.03 (both in meter squared) u been here too much for too long No, your just pissed because you are new here. I can tell your profile pic is not yours... pissed? lol. I said that because he said I'm wrong then said he's wrong too, then never gave any good information. Regardless of how I measured cone area, the 8's have more than the 10's. So you guys can attack my PROFILE PIC (not avatar) it's cool nolifers haha. And obviously the picture is not mine, and I never said it was, but you should be able to tell that from the business cards all in the weather strip. By using your math, you would agree that 2 10s is better than 1 18 in terms of cone area when in fact it takes almost a full 3 12s to equal that of 1 18. Using pi r^2 doesn't help although competitions use this method for easier class definition. The longer you do something, the better you get. ///M5 has been here for more than 2 weeks, hell probably been in the audio scene for at least 2 decades.

High Output Alternator Questions
For one- you should fuse ALL power cables at every termination. Two- Knukonceptz fuse holders, battery terminals, distribution blocks.. they all suck. I have not once seen one of their Furrowed-fitted devices actually support what they should support. If your block is getting warm or hot, remove it because it's causing resistance. If you had a dmm, you could measure this yourself.

High Output Alternator Questions
if you are dipping to 12.9v and that meter is accurate, that means it's dipping below the battery's surface charge... Hence.. that really isn't the surface charge of your battery right now.. which is not good... Shut off vehicle for a minimum of 2hrs and then measure voltage with vehicle OFF. IF you start it, you did it wrong. That battery should be resting around 12.9-13.0v if agm and around 12.7-12.8v if flooded. Because it's 4 yrs old, depending on cycle use, it's possible it's resting lower. How low you state is dependent on if you need a new battery or not.

FTW-21 subwoofer for home audio!
cadence still sells their 34" IT's a 5000wrms sub, dual 2 ohm for $1,200 online. Same as audiobahns i'm assuming, looks the same. For the amount of cone area you get.. if it can really handle about 8krms worth of amps.. $1,200 is petty cash in terms of what it could do.

New guy here just fryed my death penalty 18inch subs with dd m3b amps
The SPX-i and XP have temp sensing modules in them to prevent the rectifiers from frying. You won't get that feature from the other high output companies most typically ran. You get what you pay for. People run extra power cable as well as ground cable for this reason only- Unlike other uses in the electrical world, for car audio, because of it's low voltage operation, more cabling is required not because to support the current, but to prevent voltage drop as much as possible. Most DC products only have a 5-6v window. Look at AC, many products in AC ran in the house may have a window of 40v or more which isn't as crucial for tons of wiring.

Power comes from alternator or battery(ies). You can have your stock alternator and 1,000,000w of amps. With enough batteries, all power would come from batteries. You wanted to know where it came from, that's where it comes from. The alternator is not built to be used as full duty. Whatever it's rated to do hot, let's say 120A, it will do that if the load reaches or exceeds 120A and will maintain that output as long as the load is still there. Depending on how many batteries are in the vehicle, it could still be at 120A out from the alt if your batt bank is low. And this is why high output alts are better.. They give more current. Problem is some of these companies full duty cycles only last for about 40min whereas others last hours. Primary component of failure in an alt is rectifier due to heat. This is from too much current draw. This happens from a combination of time and load. You can have 10million watts of amps on stock alt and never destroy the stock alt. It's all in how long you do it and the load that is produced. I highly encourage you to research all this stuff so you know before you play like tirefryr said. We, SPL-Lab, makes a device that will prevent this from happening.. batt failure, sub failure, amp failure, etc, with proper settings. But we would rather encourage you to LEARN how to do it yourself properly before using something to actively protect you. We would feel bad having customers use this device with absolutely no knowledge on how to troubleshoot because in all honesty, you NEED some background experience to know how to set these devices up or you could set them to the wrong settings and not work correctly at all. They can sometimes be Trial and Error tuning but some sort of experience is required to know how to start.

Holy! Stage 1 of innovation
sorry guys.. been through hell this weekend.. From the engineer- No weighting is used. The range of measure accurately is 30-200Hz, maximum overall range is 25-600hz but outside of the first range, may give inaccurate results. When measuring, it measures 3 harmonics of the peak signal. The minimum percentage of THD registered is 2% We are not advertising it as a THD detector.. but it.. It's still a pure portable SPL meter with the ability now to do this. The word Innovation in this thread will be more evolved later on this year when some things are exposed to the public soon that our competitors do not have. This is why I said Stage 1.. there are several stages. The main 2 points listed in this thread are indeed not solely innovative from us compared to the entire market by a longshot but we are the first competitor who has come this far and still going. In this genre of the competition market, narrowing down the view of what we are accomplishing, it's innovative that we are catching up and offering an alternative to something else. As a whole in the company itself, it's not innovative. But, i do promise you all that later updates this year will provide real innovation of things not currently done yet.

Cleaning up Big 3/Protecting wire from heat.
current creates heat. Ampacity of a wire is rated at a certain amperage for a given amount of time at a given length. If your wire had no jacket on it at all, the ampacity capability to temp and time would almost double.

Welcome to the IHoP v.2
i know there were limitations to upgrading.. etc.. I had the maximum load capacity tires on there.. 1,470lbs per wheel.. rear suspensions rated at 2500lbs.. etc.. I could counter you all night long.. i must go to sleep soon, hehe. But, i live and sleep DIY. This was a challenge, the challenge succeeded for months.. The reason for the incident is due to no shock suppression.. Basically, when i hit a dip, the car would bounce up n down in several intervals vs one on stock suspension. This allows for greater error during travel from loss of traction. It happened.. it's done. If and when i heavily get back into audio, it will be with strutted air suspension.. I need to stay on the ground at all costs, not in the air at anytime.

um what? I have an 07 scion tc. 2AZ-FE engine.

Cleaning up Big 3/Protecting wire from heat.
FYI- the more you wrap wire, the less it's ampacity capability is. IF you desperately need to protect it, use an open air jacket like techflex you mentioned.

Lantz's "weekend" topic thread
pssh.. everytime i've ever had a hangover. whether it lasted 3hrs or all day.. drinking alcohol was the last thing on the list..

Welcome to the IHoP v.2
i think it's hard for me to explain this.. i know what u are sayin jon.. but if i could have fitted a strutted air suspension on my car.. this would have never happened.. I've been combating this shockless feeling for months being cautious of massive dips in the road but this made the cake today.. If i had suspension control.. like a stock vehicle, this wouldn't have happened. And FYI, due to the weight of the vehicle, ~4,800lbs with me in it vs 3,400lbs stock with me in it, it probably contributed to the fact that i was lucky the car didnt flip over during the incident. Skidding sideways at 45-60mph is bad but when hitting ground at that speed, it never once chose to lift up off the ground.

3rd glass of 100 proof hot damn and coke.. For those alchy fiends, hehe, this wont get you sick drunk, just casually wasted.. unless u drink em all within 30min! I dont like sick drunk, just soberly challenged, lol.. Just enough to be over the limit.. but still knowing you are home for the night and ready to pass out at anytime.. 151 and coke is fine too, hehe

Can someone from Fi Please respond to me so i can know whats going on
go to their website and email them.. Running a business myself, i can tell you having multiple locations of communications is hard to keep up with accurately. I know they focus primarily on email so i'd start there. Do not bombard them with emails either. Just send one and allow 24-72hrs for a reply. If no reply, send another email.

Welcome to the IHoP v.2
no man but i'll def get it tomorrow... dbsupra on here is coming to help me cut and strip all the audio stuff out tomorrow. Thanks to car audio, lol.. my wall acted as a roll cage keeping me safe in the car. I installed the wall anchored to the frame of the car on ALL 4 sides.. The entire audio install including wood, and all factory interior is still fine and intact.. The unibody frame and air bag deployment we are sure will not please the adjuster come monday morning.. But yea, we will be out there prob all day doing this gettin pics.. Doing lots of research, apparently lots of people want my 2AZ-FE engine.. I'm seeing them sold for over $2k with close to 100k on them.. My estimated buy back is ~$1,500 unofficial so i'm gonna let it sit and start parting it out probably... We can literally dead lift the engine out, lol.. It only weighs 248lbs..

Welcome to the IHoP v.2
i've been forced to look at ACV values, bluebook and buy back values of my vehicle today... Wonder why that is.. Nobody was hurt.. 1 person incident.. NEVER install air suspension without some sort of shock suppression... Lesson learned.. literally no lie.. hit a dip, bounced off the pavement @65mph, slammed back down, couldnt control, slid off pavement.. into the totaled ditch area.. Entire passenger side dented, unibody twisted, passenger air bag deployment, hood shifted.. Guaranteed totaled.. Good news- won't have to keep putting labor into it getting it louder, lol.. Ugh.. i'll be busy making sure i'm not undercut on this insurance deal the next several days. Going tomorrow to remove about $10k worth of stuff before Monday.. Once they get their hands on it.. i'm screwed so tomorrow is the day where i'm in destruction mode to get my property back.

4 18" SSA Zcon's In a 2 door 2000 blazer. update. 159db!
Wow.. never used pole before but jesus.. they must do wonders, hehe.... I can tell you now.. most of us do like our ground pounders.. but if u take some couch cushions or whatever big and stuff that port closed.. take a slow resonance sweep of that blazer and see where it peaks at when the port is not effecting the peak, you can see where u need to peak at.. It should be above 50hz easy. Then u can only imagine how much louder you would be on the meter if you sealed literally like 50% of the enclosure off to force it to peak right.. Of course, this is the meter route.. for ground pounding.. you need 100% the largest enclosure possible. Either way, the way it sits right now.. You have accomplished a mobile miracle. Assuming everything else is assumed to stay intact from the pressure, you Da Man, hehe.
