Okay the Sony if I remember correctly is a short lived amp from the Mobile ES line. I believe it did something in the amount oif 500X2 @ 2ohm. The Earthquake is a D6 and just does HUGE numbers. J

i dont think that really matters. man idk, check ur wiring very carefully, because it should be just as loud or even louder if u have it on ur backseat. It CAN be as lound it just sounds like ass. J

Just got this fold down face HU today for a tank of gas and 5 bucks. It needs the code for it and my local Kenwood shop wants 85 bones to send it to them for the code. Can someone help me??? I could use a code or someone who can help me here. J

Same head unit. + and - are wired the same as before. Same amp. only setting difference is the bance is faded towards the front, and the bass is at -1 instead of +3. Could it be that there is like one foot between the subs and roof in my car and like 1.75 ft. in the truck??? J

It was in an SUV.....So Bigger=louder when on the back seat of the car??? I just don't get why i hear shit now that i never noticed in the truck even when i stood right next to the box. J

Okay DEI Viper 12's in a ported box. Is like .2 cu ft bigger than specs. suggest. Tuned to 28 htz. When in the Mountaineer I could put the bass to positive 3 and it slammed and sounded awsome. Now I have to have it at like -1 or 0, or else it sounds like ass. The box is now in a 1995 Dodge Intrepid in the backs seat. Reason it's not in the trunk is beacuse the trunk rattled like hell with the old subs and these murder my old ones so the trunk would be all I would hear. I want it to slam like it used to and sound good again. Got any ideas??? BTW Subs hit towards the roof and ports towards the front of the car. J

I learned to install by helping my neighbor's son with his cause I had small hands and speaker wire so I was a vaulable resource. Then after he moved on my friend Matt and I wired up my first system in My corsica. I can stilll remember all of what was in there. Kenwood tape deck, lamp cord for power and ground wire, no hole in the firewall but through the door jam, a 4 channel JVC amp that had a missing harness so wires were super glued in place, no secured so it slid all over. The sub a weathered and old but still Alive URBAN 12" sub in a house speaker box that had some holes in it. Gaines were maxed out. I still remember matt turning it up and cause then I thought it was loud i was female doging at him to keep it down, people were asleep. Now I can afford them high priced installs done by the local shops, but you know what, i get more pride from a self installed 140.3 than I think i would "pro" installed 145.9 J

Sounds like a killer sub man. Have you tried it out on Death metal??? I know Six Feet Under was one hell of a test for my Vipers when I got them. Still kept up though. J

Define wall.............some its no more than 3" from ceiling others its bottom of window line. There has to be a rule............size limit of woofers?? if not I'm gettin all 18's for ur comps. The @1ohm rule does that mean i can't burp @ 1/2 ohm or 1/4 ohm?? Cause some do ass loads more. Plus is that real power @ 1ohm or rated power?? Sometimes there's a difference. Also the woofer toss killer idea. prahaps have a contest for move the coin the most.....put a silver dollar on the roof.........move the silver dollar the furthest in 30 sec. win something.........i donno its a dumb idea but its an idea. Dual 2 ohm coils, and weave the tinsel leads through the spider. Removes tinsel lead snap backs. Also make the edust cap like a fiberglass. \J

Okay the dual spider magnet idea has been tried by JBL, and while successfull it was much too large to make it a popular or very successfull driver. The replacable mags was done by Lightining Audio AND Volfenhag. Orion's H2 sub has a thin basket from what I can tell henceofrth the reason for its width as opposed to thickness. Personally I think a Very thick 3 spoke basket could be very efficent. Could hold up the mag and vent the VC really well. I'd be surprised if it couldn't. Make it like a peace symbol. Last but not least try using seperators on the magnets for better cooling. J

When you need to fund some new subs and an amp, you'll do almost anything. Trust me. - Steve HMMMMMMM i need some cash...... J
