  1. Well it is made of plastic. Probably kinda light.
  2. Those bamboos sound pucking awesome in my civic. Although they're not full range.
  3. Besides. EVERYONE is running their transducers at least to 10 percent distortion and WELL over 40 percent in the sub stage. Why would they give a peanut butter jelly sand which if their amp is set to <1%?
  4. Since when does clipping equal distortion?
  5. They are laminated with CA but no accelerator is needed.
  6. This is the type of info I need to fix the problem. Is this recones or original?
  7. The spiders are sandwiched together in a press so the top or bottom joint would have to fail in order for them to delaminate. Which could be possible by bottoming out on 4k. Teric's sub that he sent to me and I pulled apart one of the spiders which is a "soft" spider and no longer used was like a potato chip. Never seen anything like it. I think either 1) the glue between the spiders at the former has squeezed outward and that is what's cracking 2) the inner spiders have turn to potato chips. Which is unlike as they are all the same from the same pile if stock. Id expect at least one top or bottom spider to be brittle. 3). They were bottomed out with 2.5 too much power and either the bottom glue joint is loose it the kapton around the aluminum has separated and broke and that's what's cracking. Can't really know unless I pull it apart and expect. Besides the one I recones for Terec no one else has contacted me with this issue. Nor do the 10 or so drivers I have on hand that were free aired on the Klippel to 40mm one way for 10 minutes plus countless hrs of play time have this cracking sound. The only thing I can do is replace faulty ones with recones and inspect any that are returned for warrantee work.
  8. This is why I want him to remove one. Yours had a cracking sound and his is squeaking like a spring or something rubbing on wood. If it makes a noise out of the box and is not coil rub then it's covered by warranty. Nick has been using these spiders for 10 years so I need to figure out if it's a bad batch of spiders or some issue that i'm causing during the build process. Either way the customer will be covered if it's a defect of any kind.
  9. Remove one the bad ones from the box and make another video with it uninstalled.
  10. Besides nadcicle you are the first to say anything about a noise. Does it do it when playing or just when push on one side of the coil with your hand?
  11. Plenty of room.
  12. Orders are now closed for all Ethos drivers. Estimated time of arrival on the orders purchased through the preorder is scheduled in towards the end of October. We will update customers as we get more up to date information from our suppliers. We are working on getting all soft parts assembled so we will only have to drop in the soft parts once the motors arrive. This will minimize build time greatly. All pre-order sales are final. No refunds will be issued for pre-orders. The arrival time is an estimated timeframe only. The drivers could arrive earlier or later than expected. Due to unexpectedly high sales volume we have sold 90 percent of the Ethos motors ordered so we must hault sales until the next run of motors arrive which is expected to arrive sometime in February 2015. It is possible we may open a preorder on that run of motors during the Christmas holidays. In the upcoming days we will be introducing a 3inch coil driver that has a linear xmax throughout the usable mechanical xmech of our current soft parts (~40mm one way). Recommended RMS will be in the 2,500 watt range. This driver was developed with the help of Enrique Stilles of STEP Technologies and is the first transducer ever developed with three magnetic air gaps. Current estimated retail pricing will be $535.95 for the 15" and $555.95 for the 18" version. Pictures, T/S parameters, and Klippel results will be coming soon. Once introduced customer wanting to upgrade from the Ethos to the Trident will have the option to do so.
  13. They do this because it reduces their rates (as in with their insurance) tremendously when you are covered under a life policy when driving.
  14. Will the preorders for ethos be the same price in January? That depends on the price of raw materials. If there even will be a preorder.
  15. 8 subs are left for sale. These 8 will remain at preorder pricing until I start shipping to customers or until they sell out. As of now I'm expecting to receive the motors the second or third week of October. I have an order from precision due in the 12th and more soft parts due in a week or two. I should have nearly all the softparts built up by the time the motors arrive so I will only have to drop in the softs parts and package the subs minimizing build time. I'll have better time frames as the weeks go by. The next order of motors will be placed as soon as this order arrives. That will put the next order arriving around the end of January.
  16. 1.6 million attended that venue.
  17. Better get a layaway started. I have about 16 left. The next run won't be here till the beginning of February.
  18. title should read "State titles for Swift and Senchez" Callaway doesn't get the trophy when Mickelson wins a tournament. All DSS did was build the drivers, you did the hard work.
  19. Klippel uses Tracy Chapman.
  20. I'm sure as the years go by and I produce a full line up of product that destroys everything in its price point like the Ethos does people will stop second guessing.
  21. Don't worry about it. You'd be amazed the questions I get asked.
  22. Worst part is they copy dc audio. Then they ship it overseas? Kinda regretting my ethos now... Don't worry the new ones have different machining for those that buy per looks. Although now that I think about it it may hurt my sales?
  23. The rumor is DSS copies other stuff and has child labor in Asia build them.
  24. If you have 15 inches in height do 12's. The box will be nearly the same size.
