Well, I am looking to make myself a home sub to augment my Bowers and Wilkins DM603 S3 towers bottom end. I am looking at the BM 12" and was wondering how well it would work in a home environment, what size enclosure and whether it should be ported or sealed. Also, I just wonder when these will be available for purchase as I assume you approved the new design since its up on your site.

Once a week. The big problem now is finding space to start cutting the MDF and how to go about cutting the MDF with the correct angles and miters. Being at school, our tool selection is limited and we will probably have to use a circular saw. The other problem we have is that our lab is extremely small and packed with a lot of stuff and we really don;t want to be cutting MDF down there. We want to do it outside, but it has rained here so much that we don;t know when it won't be raining. We will get the project done, but it may be a pain to do.

They are. oic...i guess its a camera fuxup...makes the top look smaller That or an optical illusion because of the hole cut in the top and also having it off, theres not as much flat surface so it looks smaller, but I can assure you that the sides are all the same.

Yes, and we have been making some progress on it. We have a cardboard model of the enclosure made and may start cutting the wood this weekend. I have some pictures for you of that, but I can't find my card reader atm so those will have to wait.

I have the SAE-1000D powering a pair of 12" Stereo Integrity BMs, the things is awesome. Those subs just pound, plus when they're turned down, the SQ is great. I love Jake's amps and Nick's subs.

Haha, those things are internet legends. Anyway, I had a little too much movement at first as they were bottoming out a bit, turned the volume down a notch or 2 and it was fine though.

I do believe that the dustcap on the Mags are bigger than those on the BMs, but other than that there is very little cosmetic difference between the BMs and Mags.

I can't wait to hear their opinions on these new beasts. If they perform better than the old BMs, which you have guaranteed they do, they will be absolutely amazing drivers.

Very well might I add. My 2 BMs sound great off of my Sundown SAE-1000D, everyone who has heard it is very very impressed, they basically laugh and say, "Holy chit!"

Well, I have had a lot of back and forth with Nick today but it worked out great. He has graciously agreed to donate 10 subs to the Audio Engineering Society at Michigan Technological University for use on a project of ours. We are trying to recreate the new Elemental Designs Dodecasub, but since we are using SI drivers I know it will sound much better . I just wanted to let you guys know that Nick is an awesome guy with awesome products,

Man, I may have to replace my current 12's with the new BM 12's when they come out, that is if they will require the same size box and port frequency.

There is no reason to compare the two, they are totally different. The new BM is an excellent SQ driver by design. It isn't made to be hit with tremendous power as the suspension will reach the full 16mm of linear travel with very little power. It *needs* far less power than the old BM, although it can handle just as much thermally it will reach full x-max long before the old design would. When I listened to the new BM it was one of the best sounding subs I have listened to other than the Mag. The old BM is a nice sub too... but the X series has a larger coil, more x-max, and thus costs more. It will be ahead of the old BM in most any category and should sound just about as good. In case you missed the part about this woofer being upgraded tremendously due to the length of this thread -- compared to the initial prototypes, it is being completely changed and MSRP is going up a good bit from the original projection as my build cost has went up a great deal. The new design will handle 1000 watts RMS without issue... and that will likely be the rating, although, with the size of the coil and surrounding steel parts it will have the ability to handle much more than that. Ok, sounds good. Basically you're saying the BM is more SQ oriented and the X is more SPL but both are able to handling either SQ or SPL applications. BTW< I was just wondering as I absolutely love my sibs and think they sound great and hit extremely hard.

How will these compare to the old BMs that I have and the new 12" BMs coming out?

You still recommend SI subs for best SQ correct?
