You hit the nail on the head. What can you do... it's call subwoofer crawling. It's a PITA and more art than science. Put the sub where you listen to it, then crawl around the room untill you find a spot where is't louder/est. Put sub in that spot, and fine tune it from there. If it's not working rinse and repeate. It should take only one try but once in a really odd shaped room there must have been some messed up cancelation so we found the next closest spot. Usualy also if you only want innacurate high SPL bang bang boom, putting the sub in the corner can usualy help with that, but IMHO for most things it ruins the experience as it makes it much louder and really effects clarity. Also, if you walk a room you will find the nodes and anti-nodes, in the nodes it is really loud, in the anti-nodes it is almost silent. This is due to the size of the waves compared to the room and also due to constructive and destructive interferennce of all the waves in a room as they bounce around. Good demo of that:

Oddly enough... last month was the highest sales month since Sundown Audio started. Interesting considering the economy! --- As far as mids and tweeters... I have one of each in the works. No ETA... but here is a little teaser info. 6.5" mid... 2.0" deep... 8mm linear excursion one-way... response to 4.5-5khz 1" dome tweeter... tuned back chamber... ceramic dome... 2-4x linear excursion of most tweeters Both very low distortion, high-end, designs. I don't even have my prototypes yet so thats all I've got XBL^2 for any of it? I just wondered, lol.

yeah, I just talked with him... might go that route. just wanted to make sure the amp could take it daily... BUT IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO WIRE IT LIKE THAT!!! Would be a 10x better choice to do 2 1500Ds strapped.

1.4 (2 ohm) would be perfect for strapping. Yes it would, 2 SAZ-1500Ds and there ya go.

But how can you wire 8 1 ohm coild to 1 ohm, 4 1 ohm coils will work out to 1 ohm, double that you either have to have 2 ohms or .5 ohms, or the other combos i listed.

That and the coils are rated at 1 ohm impedence, DCR is just .7 ohms. Also, doing the math in my head there is no way to get 1 ohm, you can only get 1/8 ohm, .5 ohm, 2 ohms, 4 ohms or 8 ohms.

My build cost would go up a bit under 10% to make the changes but I don't see passing on all of that to the dealers / customers. I may pass on 1/2 of it to dealer cost which may translate into 5-15 dollars more street cost but MSRP will remain the same. :)

This is exactly why I love Sundown, Stereo Integrity, SSA, Fi, Soundsplinter, Mach 5 and all the companies like them, they are truly doing what their customers want and do actually listen to feedback about everything. Never would you hear about a company like Alpine, JL or Kicker doing something like this because customers wanted it. Way to go Jake and also everyone from all the other companies I listed! Meant to ask this earlier, would this change affect the pricing for the amp in any way?

It actually would be since the basic board would be the same - one would just have to adjust the amp within the limits of the SAE amp connected. Oh hell yea!! I am so for you doing this it isn't even funny!

Would the new SAZ-1000D be strappable with the old SAE-1000D? I am assuming no since you would more than likely be changing transistors to make it a SAZ model and stable at .5 ohms, but figured I would ask. I think you have found a winner!
