  1. I am always up to learning new things, and if it turns into a profitable hobby, then I'll pursue it even further. A hobby my wife got me hooked on a few months ago was glass working. So far I'm just working with solid pieces (molten non-the-less), and will start blowing in a couple of months or so. Here are some wine-stoppers and shift knobs I've made for myself and family in the last few months. (Can anyone tell me whats behind the glass pieces in the 4th picture down? )
  2. I have built more boxes than I can even remember, but my real passion is furniture building. Woodworking in general is a great pass-time and can be very beneficial if you develop the needed skills past just putting mdf together. I would much rather work with hardwood than mdf/plywood. Anyway, here are some pictures of furniture I've built, and the age I was when I built them. I'm leaving out A LOT of furniture I've build because I simply don't have pictures of them. I will try to get pictures when I go back to Kansas, because most of my furniture is furnishing my parents house. Red Oak rolltop desk. I have roughly 160 hours of build time in this desk. Built this when I was 15. Solid Red Oad Shaker style queen sized bed. I have roughly 70 hours in this bed. Built this when I was 16. Red Oak entertainment center. The black is grill cloth so you can control the players without pulling the doors open. Built this when I was 19.
  3. Well, it is RealTree camo carpet. I'm sure you could go to any flooring store and order it.
  4. Thats actually indoor/outdoor carpet. I was a salesman at a flooring store in high school. It was awesome. Haha.

  7. Thanks! Im located in Guthrie, OK, right between DD in OKC and Kicker in Stillwater... im a student at OSU and builds boxes on the side. Luckily, more people in the area are going bigger and better as far as systems go, so its giving me the opportunity to build some awesome stuff. Also, all my customers basically give me free reign to do what i want with design work and extras for the boxes i build. I'll be posting a lot of my old box builds in a couple of days when i get back to OK.
  8. Customer came by, and we put the sub in, put the box in the car, and wired it up. Setup sounds AMAZING running off a Sundown 3k. Sub could definitely take more power. We literally could not have fit a bigger box in this vehicle. Was a perfect fit. Here's a little video to show what this thing can do! *Correction: The box is actually tuned to 34 hz. That's what I get for thinking about 2 boxes at once.
  9. No idea. Haha. I'll find out when he gets here. Hopefully we can hook it up and get it playing before he leaves. Im excited to hear it!
  10. Box is done! Now just waiting for the customer to get here in a few hours so we can put it in his vehicle (and mayhe get to hear it!).
  11. Second coat of bedliner on. Will be painting the port in the morning.
  12. Yep. A $250 Craftsman table saw. does pretty good. Just wish the table was bigger on it. And thank you!
  13. I was approached a couple of weeks ago by a customer to build a box. He already had the design, only problem was school was getting busy for me, so i had to put him off a couple of weeks. I finally got some free time today to build it. The bedliner is drying as im typing this, and once its dry I'll be painting the port red (seems almost standard on SSA boxes...) and he'll be picking it up tomorrow, so I'll get a couple of pictures of it installed (and hopefully playing if its not raining). Specs: 6.8 cubes net 8.5" Octaport 32 hz All this going in a Dodge Caliber.
  14. This was box number ~160 for me, and ive never once built 2 boxes the same.
  15. NEVER thought this box was going to get the attention it has. I just wanted to do something unique. Im very thankful that my customers allow me to build these boxes and let me "go wild" and basically do what i want.
  16. Might be selling the Sundown amps and getting this beast when it comes out.... http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/p_36135_Orion_HCCA200001D.aspx
  17. Thanks everyone! Bobby's coming by in a few minutes to pick it up. I'll get some pictures of it installed in the vehicle.
  18. Thank you! I just like doing this for fun while I go to school to make a little extra cash. I wish this industry was bigger so I could do this for a living. I do however plan to open up a custom furniture shop when I'm older.
  19. Box is done and complete. Customer will be picking it up tomorrow!
  20. Im located in Guthrie, OK and he is currently located in Cushing, but he'll be moving back to Texas for his job in a month or so.
  21. Bedliner is done and the paint on the port is drying. After the port is dry, I'll be painting the SSA logo on the brace red.
  22. Bed liner is drying as I'm typing this and about ready to head out and paint the port and paint the SSA logo red. Will be posting a picture as soon as those are done.
  23. 100% assembled and ready for bedliner! Box came out awesome. Now I REALLY cant wait to hear this beast. It's sad that the 14" Octaport looks small on this box...
  24. Yes, patience does play a key role in advanced woodworking, especially when you don't have CNC machines to do it for you. I'll be spraying it with dupli-color bedliner (best feeling/looking bedliner for a good price), and I'll be painting the port red, painting the SSA logo red and leaving the rest of the inside of the box bare so when the customer adds LED's it'll shine nicely.
