  1. this is the box i decided to make for my 2 sa12's am i ready to cut it out or is there anything else i need to do? and does the cut list take the port into account? or is that a separate cut?
  2. alright, im looking on craigslist for another jl 500/1
  3. yeah i dont think i would wanna spend less than 200, probably get like 400 rms if im lucky. i like the brutus too, do you think it will put out the 1200 rms it says it will?
  4. ^^^^That was a mistake. How many subs do you have? What impedance? 2 subs, 2 ohm. would really like to send 600 rms each, just so i can meet the recommended rms. but i have one hooked up to my jl 500/1 and it doesnt sound to bad
  5. this one to http://www.woofersetc.com/p-7768-rub11600d-soundstream-monoblock-1600-watt-rms-rubicon-series-subwoofer-amplifier.aspx
  6. now that i got my subs and box done, its time to look for an amp. not looking to spend too much on an amp right now. would like to send 600 rms to each sa12. trying to stay under $300, ive been looking around the web and found a couple that i might be interested in. but i wont get it unless you guys say its a good buy. this one i just came across, not sure about the brand though http://www.woofersetc.com/p-7635-bamf-20001d-power-acoustik-monoblock-2000-watt-class-d-amplifier.aspx heard soundstream was pretty legit, so i found this one http://www.woofersetc.com/p-9571-dtr11700d-soundstream-1700w-d-tower-series-class-d-monoblock-power-amplifier.aspx read on Steve Mead Designs that this was good for the money, but is power hungry. http://www.woofersetc.com/p-8840-brz17001d-hifonics-brutus-series-1700w-rms-1-channel-monoblock-super-class-d-amplifier.aspx those are the 3 that i can recall right now. are any of them worth getting as a temporary amp? suggestions?
  7. alright thanks man. been a huge help, appreciate it.
  8. wouldnt my baffle be 1.5, since each baffle is .75? and should i go with that box or the second one i made?
  9. i think i got a good design. H:16 W: 35 L: 20 Port H: 13.75 Port W: 3.75 Port L: 26.5 Port Area Per Ft: 14.74 Volume: 3.5 ft^3 Tune: 34.02 hz sounds like it would sound pretty good.
  10. would i need to edit my height with a double baffle? like instead of 15", make it 15.75"
  11. if i do an L port how long do i make the bend? and what about a center port that bends out a little on each side? also, when i plug your numbers in i get a different tune. with the 4" port width, 18" port length, with 3 common walls, i get a tune of 36.85 hz. with 2 common walls i get 37.04 hz. here is what i have right now, sorry i cant take screenshots..
  12. if i add another baffle, to make my woofers look flush, does that make my baffle thickness 1.5 or is it still .75? and my port would only have 2 common walls right?
  13. thanks. my port height was wrong, but wouldnt it be 13.5? the 15 (height of box) - 1.5 (thickness of wood). im just not seeing where 12.75 came into play. what port area should i aim for?
  14. alright i think i got it perfect. Height: 15 Width: 30 Depth: 25 Port Height: 12.5 Port Width: 3.5 Port Length: 20 Woofer Displacement: .28 1 extra baffle Net Volume: 4.00 ft^3 Tuning: 34.00 hz Port Volume: .78 ft^3 Physical Port Length: 18.5 Port Area: 43.75 i feel this is perfect because its exactly 4 cubes, and has perfect tuning. but then again, i dont know anything about boxes, haha. Oh, one thing i missed was that idk if this is a L port or not, doesnt say what kind of port. anyways, what are your thoughts?
  15. messing around with another tuning calculator. ill post my results when im done and have you guys give some feedback.
  16. so would a 3.5 ft^3 box tuned to 32 Hz be good, or tune a little higher? i dug up my old computer and got WinISD, plugged everything in right, but im still not sure what its telling me? all i see is a graph, i thought i could make a box on there. any help?
  17. all i know is i want to get loud and dont really care about SQ, thats what my 6x9's up front will be for. that isn't what i would qualify as SQ. i don't think your going about this the right way explain please
  18. all i know is i want to get loud and dont really care about SQ, thats what my 6x9's up front will be for.
  19. ^ thanks bro, huge help. so i guess i will just get 2 subs, itll save me money down the road. im gonna download that WinISD and mess around on that for awhile. nvm its not compatible with Mac. is there anything similar thats compatible with a mac?
  20. well for 2 sa12's i would get a 1200-1500 rms @ 2 ohm. people in my other thread and at my local shop said i would need to upgrade my electrical system. as far as my goals. just want a box so i get some nice bass without cranking the volume knob, have having the music blow out my ear drums. also, 90% of the time i listen to rap, the other 10% is partyboy mash ups and dubstep remixes. space isnt a problem, i know for a fact that i have room. i have no clue what vas, qes, and fs are. care to explain please?
  21. oh, and do i want a smaller box or larger box in my case? i feel a larger box would make it boomier, but i could be wrong.
  22. well i think im going with one sub now. i dont wanna buy a new alternator for a car that im selling soon. BUT.. how do i know how big to make the port? say i had a 1.75 ft3 box, and i wanted it tunes to 30-32 hz, how big would the port need to be? and as far as making all 3 and testing them, i dont really wanna make 3 boxes. just want a box that will make it loud.
  23. making a custom enclosure for two sundown sa12's. which would be the best box for them? no dimensions yet, not quite sure how to calculate the volume of a ported box. --obviously the port is not to scale with the rest of the box, just gives an idea-- i felt i could draw them out better than explain them, even though they are the common boxes. feedback? suggestions? everything helps.
  24. anyone wanna sketch a quick L port for me? or should i just use the RE box calculator
