  1. i got excited when i saw my name in a post, too bad i dont do anything cool like that
  2. dont really mean to threadjack here , but speaking of jl dealers . . . theres a shop about 40 minutes away from my hometown that carries exclusively jl subs, amps, and speakers and a few clarion or something head units. i was getting prices from them just to mess around and was truly shocked at what he gave me. these were prices for 10's. w1v2 - 75 w3v3 - 140 w6v2 - either 240 or 250. those are all around or a little cheaper than online prices. i would have never even thought to look there until someone told me about it. its a tiny little shop thats a cell phone shop when you walk in then have some subs in stock with no speakers hooked up for demo. i wouldnt want to let them install anything but for their pricing, if i wanted jl id have to give them my business
  3. and you have to love that 10 or 8 gauge wire going to the amp
  4. i wouldnt want to touch the subs after that guy has probably been clipping them the whole time. whenever they have " turned down so it wouldnt shatter the glass" in their vocabulary , they probably dont have any idea where theyre doing. just no thanks lol
  5. http://nashville.craigslist.org/ele/3435957358.html $2400 for a system hitting 168 db's is a good deal. just dont want it to shatter my glass though . . .
  6. ill definitely give the doubled sided tape a try before i decide on a location. i just figured since the angle is taking it straight to the windshield it wouldnt be good. ill try the a pillar first then probably more to the top left than i marked in the other photo and see where i have the best sound
  7. i was thinking about doing option 2 because of the angle on that pillar piece it points more toward the windshield so i figured it would have better response in the door. i have been wanting to fiberglass the doors to have a clean look for the speakers, but i dont figure ill tackle that since i have no experience fiberglassing
  8. i went ahead and purchased the 6.5 type r component set. this will be my first component set and need help on the tweeter placement.i already have a hole for previous install where a crap tweeter was placed so i was wondering if i should place it there on picture 1 or on picture 2 in the door somewhere by where i have marked. also should i leave the door "grille" or cut it out. ive been thinking about cutting it out anyways. just looking for some input
  9. like mentioned above definitely get the car first and measure everything out but its honestly easier to just go with 1 box
  10. im not familiar with charger trunks but id probably say to ensure proper box size 2 12's ported would be your best option
  11. the pods and box looks great! the ring around the sub looks good but i think all of them on the headliner is a bit of an overkill
  12. i was wanting to but i over did it a little on saturday night and i dont think an audio show is a good way to fix a hangover lol
  13. i mean my truck is a 97 with no kbb value and honestly ill probably just drive this thing til it absolutely goes out. its only got 110000 miles on the engine and replaced the transmission at 75000. its about blowthrough time . . . . bye bye money
  14. nice thinking! since i have the 40/60 i should just do away with the passenger seat and console. haha i think im either going to pick up a fully loaded ssd or new x series though
  15. it kills me seeing all these great deals and actually having money saved up. you want to do a big build then remember you have a MAX of 3.0 cu ft to work with. damn single cab truck. if i still had a bedcover i would almost be tempted to say screw it and do a blowthrough . . . . .ahhhh
  16. pretty sure he already said . . . ^^
  17. thats what im leaning toward doing. getting the icon and sealing the box and if im not happy with the results just build another box. id rather go for the better sub with room to improve the box instead of going with a lower line sub, kind of what i did on the last purchase haha
  18. but since the box is too small i would assume the circular port in there would be taking up space so if i removed it frees up more airspace . .
  19. what would i need to do just remove the baffle and circular port and cut another piece to go over the side that has the hole?
  20. i probably have enough mdf left that i could build a sealed enclosure. as you said i may just try the current box out and if it doesnt work out just build a sealed box for one.
  21. pioneer 7400hd alpine type r coaxials 1 10" alpine type r in current box precision power 1300.1
  22. my current setup is in my sig. what i was going to do over christmas was replace my current door speakers with components and hopefully add a different sub
  23. thats why i was asking because i couldnt remember if the pole vent could do better close to the end of the box or if it was the other way around. so gcon for my box?
  24. im wanting to try a new sub to get a little better sound quality. the box is right at 1.0 after port and sub displacement. i think 1.35 or 1.4 before. the problem is i only have 7 inches of mounting depth. i noticed the subs are built a little differently but each have the same mounting depth for the 10". mainly what im wanting to know is which sub would be better with the mounting depth i have.
  25. i mean you can see from my other equipment in my sig im not going for anything crazy. just a pretty simple setup with decent sound. im thinking about maybe getting a little better sounding sub later on. i do say the newer type r's have better sound quality than the previous models but may move to something that sounds better later. may even go sealed because honestly thats mostly what ive always done in my truck i liked it
