Which amp for each task?
I finally got around to a dry-run of my comps and amps last night. I must admit, the JBL P650c's sound every bit as good as I'd hoped. The Sundown 100.4 really makes them shine. But I've been thinking, isn't it a waste of the 100.4 to just drive the two front pairs? They run at 4 ohm, and I end up only using the first two channels of the amp. I also purchased a 100.2 to drive my RL-i8 DVC4, but I wonder if it wouldn't make more sense to swap amps and have the 100.2 driving the front stage and move the 100.4 to the sub? This would also fit much better (physically) into my vehicle, as the 100.4 peeks out from behind the driver's seat. Can anyone suggest the best scenario for utilizing these amps? Thanks, -J.

Dammit, they don't make any for 8" subs.

Looking for grille
I've looked throughout their site, I'm not seeing the grilles in question. These are the ones with 4 horizontal bars. -J.

I can't seem to track down the "PE grille" that I've seen in a few posts. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks, -J.

Help Wanted -- Pick my components!
Unfortunately, no. There simply aren't any that will fit in that space, and I don't want to modify the stock interior.

Help Wanted -- Pick my components!
Well, chit. The baskets on the Seas woofers were way too big, even with a baffle. I broke down and got a set of JBL P650c components from a local shop. They have a nice clear sound with good highs, installation is going well. I'm hoping to have everything done this weekend.

Wiring options for 100.2
Yeah, I was looking at that earlier today. I was just curious if I could try 2 ohm. Oh well, guess I should have gotten the 1000D. I can't believe I let you talk me out of it.

Wiring options for 100.2
I should be able to wire up my 100.2 to the RL-i8 DVC 4 in the next few days, and I just wanted to make sure I understand all of my options. When I was talking to denim about the 100.2, I think he mentioned that I could bridge it and then wire the RL-i8 in series at 8 ohm. He says the 100.2 pushes out more than it's rated for (500W bridged?). Even at 8 ohms, 250W should be enough to drive the sub for daily SQ use. Unless I'm mistaken, shouldn't I also be able to wire it in parallel at 2 ohms for the full 400-500W? I would just as soon leave it in series and let the amp run cooler, providing it can push the sub adequately, but I wouldn't mind trying the higher output just for fun. Thoughts or suggestions?

1998 Dodge Neon
Dumb question, but what's going on in MD? I'm not much into SPL, but I might have to stop by to check out the fun and put faces to names.

Would you guys buy amps or subs off ebay?
Trust me, I have more subs then I have a place to use them. Treo == iPhone predecessor != sub

Modest system with RL-i8s
That phone is teh chit. Not to sound like a PR flunkie, but I think it's the "convergence" device everyone's been waiting for. If only it was on Verizon's network. I finished cutting the MDF last night and dry-fitting the TL pieces. I'm still waiting on my terminal block, so final assembly probably won't happen until tomorrow night. I've been taking lots of pics though, so expect a build log soon.

Modest system with RL-i8s
More updates... I met up with denim today and picked up the 100.2 and 100.4 amps. They look great! I started construction on a TL box for the RL-i8 by ripping the MDF to width. Tomorrow I'll use the radial to cut everything to length and start assembly. P.S. Yes, denim, I'm typing this on the iPhone.

Welcome to the IHoP
Somebody's getting their iPhone today. How did you break the news to your sister?

Wood...
I picked up some MDF last night for my new TL box. Left it in the 4Runner overnight, boy that stuff stinks. Finally moved it out before I left for work today. That's right, I had morning wood.

I ordered the Seas 27TAFNC/G and CA18RLY from Madisound. Hope it fits!

Modest system with RL-i8s
Looks like most of their kits are out of stock. I'll have SSA ship me one of the PK4DY's.

Modest system with RL-i8s
Some final updates to add... I've ordered the components from Madisound and will be picking up the amps from denim this weekend. Instead of the 1000D, I'm going with a bridged Sundown 100.2 at 8 ohm. The RL-i8 will be ported (dimensions TBD). Getting excited, can't wait for it all to get here! Receiver: Pioneer DEH-P5900iB Front: Seas 27TAFNC/G, CA18RLY Comp Amp: Sundown SAX-100.4 Sub: SoundSplinter RL-i8 Dual 4 ported Sub Amp: Sundown SAX-100.2 bridged It's definitely a modest system, but I think it will be a good match for my needs. I've also ordered a roll of RAAMmat, now I need to get schooled on my wiring needs.

Yeah, probably about 3/4 ". That was included in my calculation above.

Help Wanted -- Pick my components!
That would be great, too bad they won't fit in my ride. Still, I'm sure there are lots of peeps that would like to hear about them. They are sexy woofers.

Yeah, you beat me to it. I'm looking at them now.

Help Wanted -- Pick my components!
looks great if you can fit a large format tweeter. i wish i could without major modification. that tweeter should play low enough to mate nicely with the metal cone seas. i think you will like that more than a box set under $500 Alas, you're right. My sail panel is much smaller than I thought. I'd like to order the Seas P18RNX/P and the Seas 27TAFNC/G, but I'm not sure the woofers will fit in my door. There's 27/16 " from the mounting rim to the window track. There's another 3/4 " for extension space between the mounting bracket and the door panel. At best, it would be an incredibly tight fit. At worst, it seems like the cone or surround would bang up against the panel. Thoughts? Thanks, -J.
