  1. If we're really lucky, we won't find anything under 3.5" depth that will compete. Or is that hoping for too much?
  2. fuzzyping replied to fuzzyping's topic in SoundSplinter
This forum is way too quiet. Mike, if you're still alive out there, what's the latest on your build house woes?
  3. It's a pair of SoundSplinter RL-i8 DVC 4's on a Sundown Audio SAZ-1500D. I was just thinking the same thing.
  4. LOL... only if you play it on an 8-track with one of those transistor radio earbuds... you know, to get the full effect! I don't care what everyone else says, you're ok by me.
  5. Can you send me a recording of your truck? I need to hear it to believe it.
  6. Building a slot-ported enclosure isn't difficult. You just need two key items: clamps patience more of both Seriously, take your time and do it right. Don't rush it (like I did last night). You'll be proud of the results.
  7. Not much to report tonight. I had a bad night as far as assembly goes. Really sloppy work (for my standards), although I don't know if you can tell from the picture. I finally just had to stop myself for the evening and come up to crash. I'll finish up the terminals tomorrow night and wire it up for the test run.
  8. Jacob... in case you couldn't tell, there's a LOT of interest in this product.
  9. Wow, two of my worlds have collided (open-source software & car audio). Very cool to see those projects, thanks for the links. Looks like I'll be porting some more software to OpenBSD.
  10. This is just a pair of wimpy 8's. Think what your 12 will be capable of. eM28sy7Gj-8
  11. 0 + 1 = 1 Hence, 1 > 0 Hence, 0 < 1
  12. Thanks. Hopefully they actually work as intended.
  13. It's all about the enclosure.
  14. Hang around. I should be done with the box for my TC 12 tonight. If I get bitten by the SPL bug maybe I'll have a pair of RL-i8's on the market.
  15. That's just cruel. I need a shallow midbass like nobody's business and you just tease me??? Argh!
  16. Assembled most of the box this evening. The double baffle is strong as hell, but I went ahead and cut out some small supports for bracing. I'm pleased with the progress so far. I should be able to wind things up tomorrow night. Just need to glue/screw the bracing in place, mount the last wall, and cut a terminal recess for the bolts. Look familiar? And a quick shot of the dry-fitted bracing. I cut a dado on each to take advantage of the port wall for extra support.
  17. Yeah, Mark has done a bang-up job with the rides page. Despite the irritating demands of some users. On a related note, I was thinking it would be cool if we could link to our own build log or personal "rides" page in our SSA forums profile. And it would either show in our post sidebar or something similar. I know some users put stuff in their signatures, but I have to disable them because I often review posts at work and quite a few are NSFW.
  18. I have no experience with the Eclipse myself (although I've heard good things about them). I have a Pioneer DEH-P5900IB which I'm very happy with, sound-wise. I tend to listen to my iPod, so I tried out the Alpine iDA-X001. The Alpine has an exceptional user interface designed specifically for iPod use. After listening to it for a few months, I've gone back to the Pioneer. It has better output quality and equalization capabilities, by far. A pretty interface will only get you so far. It's all about the listening experience.
  19. Figured as much, just thought I'd throw it out there to see if it sparked any ideas.
  20. I have a 100.2 I could part with if it will meet your needs.
  21. If you can wait a few months, I expect a flood of used 100.4's when the next version is released.
  22. Nine Inch Nails - The Four of Us are Dying
  23. Not directly related to your question, but it fits the topic... if you're going to build more than one box in your lifetime, definitely invest in a Jasper jig. It's a huge timesaver and makes cutting accurate circles so easy.
  24. I've finally started working on an enclosure for the TC Sounds 12" subwoofer I bought earlier this year. Thanks to denim's help I have a box design that should work well for this driver. Here are some of the pics from my workshop tonight... The grand vision: Posted the shopping list for easy reference. Finished ripping the large pieces and dry-fitting the shell. Introducing the lovely couple. Made quick work of the baffles thanks to my Jasper jig. Oh yeah, that's good chit.
