Sundown Audio's Results
It was cloudy all day but the weather wasn't that bad. It drizzled rain off/on until around 2pm then was good after that. The rain actually brought in a bit of warm weather with the temp around 60* all day.

Yes. Can you see the pics? That's the TermLab screen shown. It even has www.termlab.com written across the bottom of it.

SAZ-3000D @ .5Ω load daily
The power supply is a specific section of the amp. When your voltage gets too low it causes the power supply to work harder to produce power and typically the mosfets fry. Keep your voltage up and you'll be good to go.

Testing all the SAZ amps
With the 50% power increase from the saz-1000d to the saz-1500d I'm seeing the full theoretical 1.5db gain. With the 33% power increase from the saz-1500 to the saz-2000d I'm only 0.2db away from seeing the full theoretical 1db gain. I would also expect to see another 1.5db with the 50% power increase from the saz-2000d to the saz-3000d but in reality I'm only seeing 0.9db. Since the sub isn't gaining spl proportionally with the power increases I'm thinking that power compression is starting to take effect. Now I'm definately not saying that this sub is anywhere near maxxed out. Just that from here on it's gonna take more than the typical 50% increase in power to see the same 1.5db gain. Keep in mind that my subs are original stock NightShades with the soft 3 spider suspension. They don't need a lot of power to get going good. The saz-1500d has it moving very well. The saz-3000d has it wanting to jump out the box. As for impedance rise, in previous testing my rise has always stayed just below 1ohm. I guess I need to take this testing one step further and clamp each amp along with a video to show sub movement.

Mercedes Benz E55 AMG goes Sundown Audio
Sweet! Nice pics.

Testing all the SAZ amps
Yes I can hear the difference from one amp to the next. Even with only 0.7db gain it is noticeable to me by ear.

Testing all the SAZ amps
I can't say exactly because until that day I have never personally experienced it but I've also never tested in 30* weather either. I do know that in colder weather the peak frequency will be lower and throw tuning off but I typically wouldn't expect that to cause near a 1db drop in a street vehicle. Several local guys have experienced the same thing though.

Testing all the SAZ amps
I got some more testing done today since the weather was a bit better. Temperature was in the upper 40*s. Everything else was identical to the previous testing on Saturday. saz-1500d saz-2000d saz-3000d Much better scores today. :22) Even though I didn't get to test the saz-1000d I think it's a safe guess to say that it would also be somewhere between 0.9-1.1db louder hitting around 147.5db.

Testing all the SAZ amps
That and the fact that temp was in the 30s. The sub never got warm at all. I do believe power compression did come into play with the 3000d. This sub is an original stock NightShade and doesn't take a lot of power to get moving well.

Testing all the SAZ amps
Late spring... UGHHHHHH!!! SO FAR.... Trust me they are totally worth the wait.

Testing all the SAZ amps
I guess we could redo this same test in bangin's Altima for the trunk guys. So far in testing with his pair of T1 15s he's done almost identical #s (within 0.2db) as I did above using the saz-1500d and saz-2000d. We have yet to test the saz-1000d or saz-3000d in his car though.

12 inch icon to saz-1000d ?
The saz-1000d is a mono-block amplifier meaning it only has one output channel. The four connections are for easier wiring of multiple subs. You can hook up each + and each - from the sub straight to each of the connections on the amp. You don't have to use all connections though since they are all in parallel inside the amp.

Testing all the SAZ amps
IMO the saz-1500d and the saz-2000d are right in the sweet spot for powering this sub since it's stock. I wouldn't dare try to power it with the saz-3000d at full power daily. Now I need to do some testing with my custom built NightShade 18"s. They have the cooling option & longer coil plus the stiffer spider to handle the saz-3000d daily.

Testing all the SAZ amps
I adjust all my settings the old school way completely by ear. Even though I'm a total basshead I really do have a pretty good ear for tuning.

Testing all the SAZ amps
We did some comparative testing between all the Sundown Audio SAZ series amplifiers today. The saz-1000d, saz-1500d, saz-2000d, and the saz-3000d. Guts of the new saz-1000d. This thing is a lil powerhouse. All testing was done in my '93 Explorer Sport on a single stock Sundown NightShade 15". The weather was very cold today down in the 30s. My peak frquency was off cause of the cold and overall I was down 0.8db with all amps but this test was only for comparison purposes anyways just to show the difference on the TL from one to the other. Up first the lil saz-1000d. It's so cute! Then the saz-1500d. 1.5db gain in a direct swap. Next is the saz-2000d. Another 0.8db gain with it. Last up was the saz-3000d. 0.7db up from there. All scores were done with the vehicle sealed & the mic on the windshield.

Competition Soundoff Sumter, SC Jan 24th
This will be our 1st local event for '09. These typically have a pretty good turnout. Cash payouts for Street Bass (similiar to BassRace). I'll see ya'll there.

2000d pre-sale?
Save up a lil bit more than enough to buy the saz-1500d and a lil bit less than the saz-3000d.

New Sundown 4 channel?
I've heard about a lot of the new stuff in the works but haven't heard anything about that. You sure he didn't mean the new sax-125.2? It's already out. The sax-100.4 is also new with upgraded crossover features and then there is the new sax-50.4.

Just a happy camper.....another 1500D
Twins huh? I must have a freakin' Sundown orphanage going on. Congrats on the purchase. The happiness doesn't fade. I still smile everytime I look at my babies.
