  1. That one is highly anticipated here as well. I think Gary would sell a kidney to get one right now if he could.
  2. www.competitiononly.com They should be updating the website this week. The next event is Saturday August 30th. These are fun events with decent turnouts. Cash payouts for Street Bass competition (like Bass Race). Hope to see ya'll there.
  3. Thats correct. Run the coils on each sub in series then parallel both subs to the pair of strapped amps. If they are dual 2s then each amp will see 1ohm.
  4. As far as your drawing I see two different ones. The one with two subs doesn't have any negative terminals for the subs so its a lil incomplete. The drawing with one sub shows it wired in parallel for a 1ohm load meaning each amp is seeing 0.5ohm.
  5. No. Use the BR out from the Master amp to the BR in of the Slave amp and the signal is already 180* off.
  6. I have to say congratulations to Gary aka banginAltima for his new personal best score of a 146.9. This was done out of the trunk of his '06 Altima using a pair of RF T1 15s powered by a single Sundown saz-1500d. It is a daily car tuned to 33hz and peaks @ 41hz so no fart boxes here. This car will absolutely pound some Jeezy. This score done with the car completely sealed and mic on the windshield DbDrag style. He is by far the loudest trunk car in his power class. Sundown Powa! I didn't do too bad today either taking 1st in Street Bass (like BassRace) with a perfect 139.9. Yay for cash prizes!
  7. x2 We strapped a pair of 1500s on banginAltima's RF T1 15s for burps only and they didn't last very long. As soon as the first one blew it shorted and immediately sent the amps into protect.
  8. I just received my 4th one Monday. There is one on my Explorer, 2 on my bro's Excursion w/ factory dual alt setup, and now this last one is going in to my bro's competition Dakota w/ a GM alt. Absolutely no problems.
  9. My Maxx-Link is installed & dialed in as well as my amps and everything is sounding great. Since I had the clamp and dmm in the truck I decided to go ahead and take some measurements. My strapped 1500s put out 90v and 40a while drawing 400a of current with voltage dropping from 13.5v to 12.2v. If my math is right thats 3600watts @ 2.25ohm & 12.2v out of a pair of strapped 1500s. My subs are dual 1s wired in a parallel series configuration. Basically the amps are strapped @ 1ohm (0.5ohm each). All testing was done on music playing Gorilla Zoe - Waddle (nice consistant 34hz bass line that works well with my current 33hz tuning). Measurements were taken 5-6 seconds into the bass line after the #s had leveled out. No peak hold measurements were taken. My gains are set a lil conservatively since my stock 95a alternator is half dead and can't keep up at all. Thats why my starting voltage was at 13.5v instead of the usual 14.5v causing the voltage to fall to 12.2v when it typically holds strong at 12.9v. My new 200a alternator is on the way and should be here by the end of the week. Then I'll retest everything with that & my MLA module installed and see if I can hold the voltage better. Any thoughts?
  10. I had that same problem at first. After changing out to my new head unit it went away though. You need to set the gains and match the amps seperately when using a Maxx-Link whether they're strapped or not. I really didn't realize what I was getting into with this thing tuning wise. It doesn't help that I might as well be dyslexic when it comes to reading and understanding manuals. Now that I've done it once it doesn't seem so difficult anymore. Thanks everyone for the help.
  11. Thanks. I'm just half illiterate.
  12. ^What about that?^
  13. I worked all day yesterday getting my Maxx-Link working properly. I'm 99% positive it was an issue with the outputs on my old head unit. Now I'm trying to get everything fine tuned perfect and there are a lot of adjustments on this thing. My only concern is what to set the ouput of the Maxx-Link to? Its currently set to 5v but can I go higher? Will the 1500s take the full 9v output? I checked the owner's manual but didn't see it listed. Also since I'm not using the br output to strap the amps, do I still need to gain match them? How does that work? I'm used to only setting one amp and now its like I have to set both amps and the Maxx-Link which is driving me crazy. I originally tried running the amps seperate but couldn't get them matched perfect so I strapped them again to make it easier.
  14. I'm having trouble with my Maxx-Link also. Everything is fine without it but when its installed my subs go haywire.
  15. If its dual 2ohm I could help you with that.
  16. At .25ohm they start to get protection happy. Definately don't do it daily & I wouldn't even do it for burps.
  17. Here is a backshot of my b-stock NightShades. Nobody will ever know that there is anything "b-stock" about them. And here is an example of the #s I'm hitting with them. There isn't any effect on performance at all.
  18. That current draw is per amplifier. That setup can easily pull 800a+ of current. Four 1500s @ 1ohm each will be much easier on your electrical setup.
  19. and the Sundown disease continues to spread... Everyone who comes in contact with them seems to get addicted.
  20. Where's the vids? You know we want 'em.
  21. My setup has done a best of 151.8db on a TL legal sealed mic on the windshield. Yes they're still stiff. Before these I ran three Fi Bl 18s powered by a pair of strapped 1500s. The Bls sounded better on music but were no where near as loud. Before that I ran four RF HX2 12s powered by a pair of RF T1ks. The NightShades walk all over those in every aspect. I also played around a little with a pair of TeamRF 12s. The NightShades play music wayyy better and have gotten louder with less power.
  22. I'm using a pair of stock NightShade dual 1ohm 15s. I tune it up to 45hz for competition and down to 33hz for daily pounding. 1. They are being powered by a pair of 1500s strapped at 1ohm (o.5ohm each). 2. It only gets played wide open during comps. For daily I keep it at a conservative volume level. 3. Well I've pretty much dominated all the competition around here in my class since I bought these subs so I have to say that I like them a lot.
  23. Go with the old heat sink for $360. http://www.db-r.com/sell/store/index.php?productID=143 I bought a refurb from dB-r ealier this year and it was in mint condition. Nobody would of ever guessed that it was even used at all. Also don't forget about the warranty. Every other refurbished product I've seen only comes with a 30day warranty. db-r has a 1-year warranty which says a lot about the confidence in their craftsmanship.
