  1. I broke the Jasper Jig working on someone else's box Sunday so until the new one comes in I can't do much else to the ports. All the wood for the box itself is laminated and ready to be assembled.
  2. Derrick824 replied to Gary F.'s topic in Sundown Audio
    Woot!
  3. Nothing gets wired out of phase. All the subs are wired and played normally. The box is basically a 4th order bandpass with sealed rear chambers firing into a ported front chamber.
  4. The crazy thing is we didn't do any real testing to figure out peak frequency. Just a quick low volume sweep then play the first tone on the Ipod. And that was only about 2/3 volume. Subs were barely moving.
  5. Initial spl testing complete. Today I got to witness car audio history first hand. This m'fer is gonna be EPIC!
  6. We're working on a new build for the Excursion. 16 Sundown Audio sa-12s powered by 4 saz-3500s. Box sketch Close up of ports. Three 8" custom flared ports. Cutting the wood Laminating. The entire box will be at least two layers thick. Three & four layers in certain places. Starting the router work for the ports. I call this pic Cock & Balls. Lots more work to do. I barely got started on the port work. No where near done with that piece & I have two more identical pieces to build. Stay tuned...
  7. Hellzyeah!
  8. You're supposed to be a competitor right??? A few hundred watts in my Explorer = 1 full db on the TL. That's a big difference in the lanes.
  9. You will get tracking information via email as soon as it ships.
  10. I'll squeeze eight 8s into the Sentra, in the trunk. All 8 subs forward sealed off ported up through the rear deck. Depending on coil configuration I'll power them with a single saz-4500d or a pair of saz-2000s. That's it, the plan is done. Your turn to get the subs here.
  11. You do these & I'm gonna do a crazy 8 build to keep up with Randy.
  12. Send me an email with your address to [email protected] & I'll send you a couple.
  13. 1.5ft of net volume per sub for an sa-12.
  14. 1.5ft with around 18" of port area per sub tuned to 32-36hz. You'll love it.
  15. vid of Steve's 156.6 run
  16. "Gary Fletcher (Team Sundown) from TN scored 157 dB in Radical X1 for "SP Best of Show", in his 1992 Dodge Caravan. Gary uses 2 Sundown 1500's XS Power batteries. He won $250 for producing the highest sound pressure score at the event. Paul Strouth (Team Outcast/Sundown) won $150 for 2nd highest SPL score. Joshua Newton (Team Carlisle Acoustics/Sundown/Xstatic) from Carlisle, KY won $100 for 3rd highestscore with 154.7 dB, and that was in the M4 class." Woot!
  17. Good score.
  18. I see a few Sundown Audio users up there.
  19. It looks like the old battery & amp rack are missing. I'm sensing something bigger, better, & more powerful.
  20. Nice job Steve!
  21. Gotcha on the port tuning. Never heard it called that exactly but yeah we've tried different tuning. It always peaks @ 52hz. This also has to be a daily box as he plays music on it daily.
  22. Holding the hatch or doors doesn't do anything. Bracing the roof helps. Not sure what you mean by port testing???
  23. With 12 Kinetik 2400s in the back you won't have any problem running a single saz-3000d @ 0.4dcr. How are you getting 0.4dcr from four d2 subs? Are you planning on running more than one amp? Even if you had four amps you have enough power to support them.
