  1. Do you think that a company should replace a blown woofer when the install used the factory recommended specs for a sealed enclosure size and the recommended power with no clipping??? Just wondering
  2. aznboi3644 replied to jonbearsmt's topic in Off Topic
    168!!!
  3. What is the max rearward xmech on the ShivaX??
  4. I've had a 15 Type R ported....if you know what you are doing they can get pretty loud. But your buddies just "throwing subs in the back" seems like they have crappy enclosures. You should be able get up there with the right enclosure.
  5. I've wall socketed an old school 12W6 with ~4800 watts. It's fun. If you just burp it the coils should be fine. The 12W6 surprisingly handling a 4800 watt burp free air on the ground for 30 seconds. dustcap probably just blew off because of the immense pressure from being burped with 14000 watts!!!! lol Tough little bugger
  6. I don't know why...I am going to use welding cable for my install. The "distributor's website" says that condensation crap so you will buy the more expensive car audio wire. Wire is wire...if its copper and decently flexible it will work fine for most installs unless you need to tie knots then run the wire lol. I'm a welder and the cable I use for arc welding is plenty flexible...some even more flexible than normal car audio wire.
  7. yeah....14,000 watts is a lot to take for a burp. lol wow. did you do this free air??
  8. lol welding cable forming "condensation" inside the jacket...car audio cable would have the same chances.
  9. Piece of sh!t amp....puts out like 600 watts maybe.
  10. I just wish companies made 4 channels that did a solid 500 watts a channel lol...I'd love that
  11. Lol where did you learn about this "rule of thumb" and who's butt was this thumb in??
  12. the way I see it... a watt equals a watt. As long as the amp can power a speaker doesn't matter what speaker it is - tweeter, mid, etc
  13. Nice 4 channel would be the big boy from Rockford
  14. the abc box I made got decently loud...a lot louder than 2.5 cu ft ported at 30Hz. But it got sloppy...if you do it right it should turn out great
  15. I loved my Alpine Type E. A lot of people under estimate these subs. In a nice ported box off 100 watts it sounded really good and got decently loud
  16. ABC boxes are a hit and miss kind of thing...don't expect great things from them just because a guy had good luck with one. Mine was a wing it kind of thing. It was for a an old school JL Audio 12W6
  17. 1.37 cu ft...is that gross or net?? also two 12s in 1.37 cu ft?? Hard to fit
  18. I'd get a btl but the tinsel slap and broken tinsels just don't work for me
  19. A type R can take 2000 watts rms for a burp. I played 10,20,and 30Hz test tones on my Type R for 3 minutes, a full minute of each with 1200 watts I was trying to blow it. All I got was a little smell. This was in a transmission line enclosure also so the only thing controlling the cone was the air mass in the line and the suspensions
  20. I've built an ABC enclosure before...tuned to 30Hz and 44Hz. This was for a single 12 inch sub and I got port noise using a single 4 inch round port in each chamber. Why do you want to build an abc enclosure anyways??
  21. your ears are different from a mic. You can sit in a vehicle at meters 150db yet a vehicle that meters 140db could sound twice as loud to your ears. All a mic does is measure preasure at the dash. I'd rather have a loud setup to the ear than a setup that meters well. But I don't compete so thats my .02 dollars
  22. big air leaks can make the box sound like crap. Also how did you set up the amp??
