Where can I download clean test tones ?
most test tones are low quality MP3 format. If you go to PWK designs page his Radiation CD has test tones in high quality lossless audio format for the best quality

2- SSD 18's in 6.6cu.ft. before displacement???
how much port area are you planning on having??? That can change your net volume by a large margin I would still have gone with two 12's

tell him the WOW factor in this setup will be "WOW that sounds like crappy 10s in the trunk"

Project "Big Bois" full range speakers
roll off around 40Hz isn't all that great. I'd tune lower

Project "Big Bois" full range speakers
whats the response look like for an enclosure that large for the sub?

eD NINe.1?
not a bad amp...not 3000 watts though. 1500 watts.
-
Slot or areo ports
I would not say that half the port area is need with aeros than with a slot port.
-
eD NINe.1?
there are also power tests for the Nine.1 amps putting out close to 1600 watts with stable voltage

eD NINe.1?
I would still own my NINE.1 if I didnt have to sell it to pay off some bills...very good amp

WMD18" vs. eD 19ov.2
what enclosure is your 19Ov.2 in?? I loved mine in 6 cu ft tuned to 40Hz...they like bigger enclosures. SQ is great. The only weak part of the sub is the spider. I ripped mine pretty much all the way around the sub...kinda my fault though 1000 watts and 10Hz sine wave in the 40Hz enclosure isn't going come out with anything good.

bandpass enclosures
what is the size of your ported enclosure?? I'd make it bigger...bigger means more efficiency and more of a peak around tuning.
-
to much port
I had 112.5 sq inches in a 4.3 cu ft enclosure...so I would say you don't have enough port area IMO

True ESX power
You are a lucky son...I'm trying to find some old school HCCA amps.

sub for a buddy of mine
Your choice of subwoofer is completely opposite of what you said the subwoofer will be intended for. I am confused. Your friend wants sound quality but you look at one of the cheapest crappiest brands out there??

Port Area: How much is too much?
I use 25 sq in per cube and thats not too much. Excursion was less than half of that in a sealed enclosure. Bottoming out is not a problem. I don't know what people are talking about when saying too much makes the sub sound sloppy or bottom out.

E12 subwoofers
Hey when are these gonna come out?
-
Ported Enclosure Tuned Frequency
it will sound like crap and be very boomy...your box sucks...if you want good sound you must have a good enclosure.

alpine type x voice coil
"Said to increase power handling" Do you think it works better than the standard coil??
-
alpine type x voice coil
Same coil length and height same gap. No discernible advantage. As long as it is linear there is no difference.

Edgar's new box for 2 18's!
no 45 in the port??
-
Most valuable part of a subwoofer?
depends on materials...motor necessarily is not the most valuable.

Alpine type E sub box?
I used to have an Alpine Type E 12 in my '94 Protege. Built a 1 cu ft ported enclosure tuned to 36Hz with two 2" round ports. Sounded awesome...played well even down to the 20hz's. Powered with 100 watts. They seem to work well in a wide range of enclosures...1.5 cu ft I would tune around 40Hz. Don't worry it will still play well to 30Hz.
