i know some of those units only handle so much power on the high side... so depending on your factory sound system it just maybe a plain and simple problem of too much voltage on the input.. in witch case it would have happend anyway .. and it will just keep happing.. but even tho your anger may be displaced i do see where your coming from and i have been guilty of it my self. good luck.

o yeah .. and box has ALOT to do with a score too.. i changed boxs to 45's and 1.5 inch think and gained tons. was a run build im sure.. i have a 99 grand am that the little lady drive and its a small trunk and a i piece no fold back seat .. but i picked up a 2000 to flip.. and it has a huge trunk! and a 60/40 split tripped me out.. same body style 1 year chance and such a huge trunk.

i loaded up my mom and the little lady to head down to pluckers wings for dinner. i get on the interstate and a car is getting on the ramp and i mash my gas to switch lanes and give space for on coming traffic.. and once i get in the middle lane i take my foot off the gas and the truck keeps going!! my peddle is stuck to the floor! my 5.4 is moster mashing full speed ahead my chick looks at me like what the fuck. i mash the gas a few more times tryin to get it un stuck with no luck... so i shut it off and pop it in nutrual at the speed of 85 miles an hour. coast about 1 miles off the ramp into a gas station.. pop the hood and i can not see what the problem is because all motors are coverd my plastic now days.. with no tools and a car full of females i break the plastic off the top and start checking my TB it seems a little sticky so i mess with it.. i get it to idle again and i limp it to the part store... some TB cleaner and some new return springs and no help... i try to limp home at idle but soon relize that with the hills in my area it will not make it. so like a county ass cracker i am.. i fold some bizz card and grab a papper clip and rig this shit up to give me 2 grand worth of motor speed.. and make it home. trying to forget my problems with my lincoln we load up in one of my other cars.. and head to chillis... the WORST dinning experience ever.. god it was shitty... got home drank a bottle of jager and had a little fun..

i can put a 6000 watt amp on a single 8 inch kicker VR and it would be fine.... its the user and the controls that make or break this question... you can blow a BTL on a 800 watt amp if you dont know what your doing... see where this is going? amps dont blow subs .... users blow subs. that amp is no where close to 2400 watts by the way, that amp will work on that sub.. but your gonna need to place your setting very carefully.. as thats dirty power IMO. the BTL handles over 3500 watts clean daily power if used correctly.

of course the bigger the box the less power needed from my stand point.

i noticed that with a port at one side of the box with port back subs back causes the sub that is closest to the port to bottom out first. thats why i went to a center port

i know for a fact there is one member from there... but i have not seen him around latly.. .i enjoy spending weekends there when i get the funds and the time.... what kinda work?

not all FM mods are shitty.. in my towncar i had a inline fm mod.. when it was powered up you could get NO other station.. and the movie would sound GREAT!let me think on it perhaps i can come up with the brand name.. but right now im thinking it was phernhight or somshit like that.

they go out... its a commen problem... the easy way to find one one with one that does not use it and is willing to part with it... jacob stays pretty backed up on emails.. so just remember that when your waiting for a responce.

if you pick one of the two subs they will have a remote gain.. able to turn your sub WAY down... but not off.... if you need to be able to turn it off.. then a switch on the remote will work.. or if you have a nice head unit you will have the "sub" on and off control in the unit its self.
