oscilloscope?
Phi are you talking about the nano. Or something like that. I've almost bought that one before but couldn't really see spending a 100 bucks to just set gains.

Ok a little update on the box build. Learned that my router skills are in the negatives and next time willl fix up some kind of jig to make circles. Anyways here are some pics. The mess on the dining table. Yes I was building this inside....dont have a garage and it was storming like crazy outside. First side up. All sides up. I didn't want to use another sheet of mdf just for a small piece so my middle wall is 2 pieces glued. Sides and middle baffle in. This is what I was hoping my holes were gonna look like....... Turned out more like this. And this is with the baffle on. Rest may be delayed a couple days for work. Amp should be here by friday and binding posts sometime next week.

Craftsman all in one cutting tool.
http://www.craftsman.com/shc/s/p_10155_12602_00964473000P I found one of these at a local pawn shop and was wondering if it would be worth picking up for 50 bucks. The one at the shop has a attachment that looks something like a router and has a circle cutting attachment among other things. Really would just need it for cutting circles, and then possibly other household things. Sorry if this is in the wrong section didnt really know where to ask about tools here.

So instead of starting a new build log I will ....well start what I never did before. I have 2 xcon 15's waiting for a install. Will order a audiopipe 3k tomorrow and get some wood at home depot and hopefully get this all started. Currently in the car I have: Pioneer deh-7900 Stock components Saz-1000d (some power acoustik amp filling in at the moment cus I seemed to pop a cap in my Saz.) 15" Fi Q fully loaded D2 in a 3 cf sealed box. Optima blue top under the hood and Optima Yellow top in the back. 2/0 welding cable from front to back. Knu Konceptz 1/0 for my big three and Knu rca's Will be looking to replace my 6.5's here soon also. And some pics to bide the time. Made the center cap for these 18" enkei's for a custom look. Early xmas presents. 2 Bundles of joy. Some face time. And a peak at the backsides. Hopefully I won't fail in keeping up with this build log as I did last time.

Trying to figure out a box for 2 15" xcons.
Double baffled. No bracing but separate chambers. That partition should be sufficient bracing right?

Trying to figure out a box for 2 15" xcons.
Well I got a designer to fab me up some plans for a sealed box that will be 37.5x19x19. He said it will come out to 3cf each chamber. Will be going tp home depot on thurs hopefully to get started.

Trying to figure out a box for 2 15" xcons.
Ok in the cargo area I got 38Wx20Dx22H. Was gonna only have it 20" high but bumped it up a lilttle to get as much box space as available. According to a box calculator on the12volt.com puts me at 8.01cf, figure about 7.5 after sub displacement (i think thats about right). I tried figuring out for ports and when I put in a 4" aeroport tuned to 32Hz put it at only 1.5" in length.....this does not seem right to me. I tried figuring out for a slot port at 4"x18.5" tuned at 32Hz put the length at 18.9". A 2"x18.5" slot only comes out to 8" of length. Does all this seem right? Tried to mock something up in google sketch but I failed pretty hard at that. If I can't figure this out Ill just make a sealed box to those specs and throw a baffle in the middle.

how do you properly ground an amp?
+ to + then to + on amp - to - then to - on amp. Assuming your sub is dual 2ohm.

Questions about buying components.
Thanks for your input. I tried to read as much as possible so I didnt make one of these "which should i get" and thats all the info you get out of the person. I know anything will sound better than stock. Just glad i wont have to make custom pods for the tweeters.

Questions about buying components.
I will be looking forward to upgrading the stock components in my 2008 xb here soon. Stock has a 6.5 in the lower part of the door and a tweeter in the door in the section where the side mirror is. I know from reading post that you should go listen and pick for yourself but the problem is I live in a small town on the coast of Oregon and the only place in town that has car audio.....well their stuff is at least 5 years old and 2x the price of retail. I can drive east about an hour and a half to Portland and check out stereo shops/stores but most I've seen only carry name brands at inflated prices. So should I just wing it and take a chance on a set? My goals are just to improve the sound from stock speakers. Not really worried about imaging and all those other "sq" things seeing as I am mostly deaf in my right ear (not from car audio) and everything sounds like its coming from the left to me anyways. Will deaden the doors when the time comes. I would like to try to spend $150 or less. Will buy a low powered amp to accomodate (50x2 of some kind most likely). I was looking at the PG RDS 6.5" set. Can get it for about 90 bucks and they made CA&E top 10. Open to any other suggestions. Or any opinions on the PG set. And on a side note the back doors have stock 6.5" speakers.....would it be worth it to maybe throw some midbass's in there or just cut them out all together.

Quote for 2 15' xcons ported.
I will make this fit if I have to crowbar it in.... Also could I get a quote for a sealed box also please.
-
Quote for 2 15' xcons ported.
I know that duran. And if it comes down to it I will have to go that route. Figured I'd try for a ported first since its easier to fab up a sealed if it doesnt' work.
-
Just ordered mine.
Well full tilt so far for me has only been a saz-1000d so don't believe its stressing the system too bad but I had 14.9 sitting at the back battery and at full tilt on young jeezy dropped to maybe 14.5. Got optima blue top for starter battery and a yellow top in the back.

Quote for 2 15' xcons ported.
Get rid of your back seat Jes! lol Lol don't wanna do that. Where would i put my golf clubs then?
-
Quote for 2 15' xcons ported.
Well if its subs up port back The box could go higher than the 20 inches but would have to cut down on the depth to let the port "breathe" so to say.

Quote for 2 15' xcons ported.
I have a scion xb gen2. The cargo area is roughly 38Wx20Dx20H all in inches of course. The height can go higher if needed just trying to stick to the top of the seat line as possible. This would have to be a sub up port up box or else I would have to cut the depth down. Thanks.
