  1. same as one of big jons he gave me the plans too. I've read all of his blogs and he doesn't really show anything hes done to improve his vehicle besides add more power lol. He does have a different box now i believe tho too. Would sound deadening the doors help a little? Im actually currently running my sundown 1500d on these subs i'm in the process of hooking the crescendo back up maybe i'll be fine again with that. Just don't know where to put my gain at on the 1500 with those subs and my subwoofer level at 0
  2. Im sure most of you know the trunks in these cars are terrible for bass. Looking for some ideas on what i can do. I have sound deadener on the trunk lid an sides and a little bit behind the back seat. I don't wanna cut out the top of the back deck supposedly doesn't gain much. was wondering if cutting the metal out behind the back seat helps at all? BTW im running 2 xcon 15s with a crescendo 3500
  3. yeah i did , i had the gain set at about 1/4 of the way thinking 5 volt pre outs on my HU meant it needed to be at the 5volt area and the lowest was 6v on the gain. But he explained it only really puts out around 1 or 2volts? so said put the subwoofer level at 0 and the gain passed halfway near where that would be after i told him what HU i had and subs. I had my HU on +15 with the gain too low just sounded not right but now it's all good sounds awsome. Thanks for the box plans jon i know the port is little smaller than it shoulda been for the Xcons but it's all good can't fit much else in that trunk! lol
  4. mechman 270 amp alt xp flex 0g wire
  5. yeah i think so to. But the way he explained it made it easier for me to set it up closer to what it should be. Think i was scared to make it go any louder not realizing the power of everything them things are crazy bout to blow a window out it feels like. My rear view mirror already almost broke off.
  6. yes and i turned my subwoofer level to 0db on my headunit. Before i had my subwoofer level at 15db and amp gain really low and it was all messed up now it sounds perfect.. headunit is a kenwood KDC X996
  7. yeah i got it all set right now and they're are insanely loud! and clear too
  8. wowww there we go finally got it set right dammmm them things POUND!
  9. i called crescendo he said with that headunit just leave subwoofer level at 0db an set gain on amp little passed halfway since the headunit really probably puts out around 1volt.. so i'll be messing with that later
  10. Plus i'm confused wtih my headunit it's a 5volt preout. Should i have my headunit subwoofer level set to max 15db then set the gain? or what?
  11. I got a reading with them still in the terminals an it said 1ohm or 1.2 an .9 an 1.1 shit like that. It is pounding pretty hard now but idk how loud i should play it doesn't sound distorted but it still could be. i kind of have it in between where i think it should be, possibly heard it clip at one point when it was loud i think it skipped a beat so i turned it down a little. It is a more cleaner bass an can tell the difference from the 1500 but i don't know how much of a difference it should be. Just need to do some tweaking i think and like i said it's in a grand marquis bass trapped trunk. It's got a lot of deadener tho but still rattles.
  12. does it matter that my headunit has 5volt pre outs?? i have the subwoofer level on headunit set to 11db out of 15 and gain on amp little under half way
  13. They're dual 1's. the connetions are all good checked everything like that. Only thing i think is kind of iffy is maybe one my grounds but it's on metal that is goin to the frame an all my batteries have their own grounds. and 270amp alt
  14. k i just did that...that amp doesn't sound any different from my sundown 1500d if anything sounds weaker..
  15. I have two 15inch Xcons wired at 1ohm and have one + wire and one - wire...the amp speaker connections look like this..... - - ++ where do i put each of my wires for 1 ohm... do i need a jumper on the positive wire? the owners manual says the amp connections are the opposite like this ...+ + - -...and they are like this on the amp - - + +
  16. I had the same problem with my old setup and i think it was my headunit.. was using a sony xplod and maybe something to do with my pre out voltage or something like that. Got a good headunit with 5volt pre outs and haven't had it happen since.
  17. they're on my sundown 1500d now, but i have a crescendo 3500d i'm going to be runnign them with...if that's the case what's the point of even hooking up the crescendo?? so your saying he could just use his one 1500d on both the subs and it sound the same as one 1500d to each sub? idk bout that..
  18. It's only when i have my amplifer in use for my subs, without that amp hooked up i can play regular music on my speakers long as i want an it doesn't even change temperature. Has something to do with those being hooked up? could it be the subwoofer settings how i have it set to 80hertz and my LPF on my amp fighting the deck settings? altho i have the LPF set to around there on the amp but hard to tell if it's exact.
  19. alright disregard everything i said, i had my headunit set on 10inch sub and some other shit. They are SLAMMING my back seats look like they are gonna blow out and my front doors are flexing too. Sorry bout the first post i made an yeah the box could be bigger but it's for sure good now. I can't imagine what the crescendo is gonna sound like. Thanks for the replies.
  20. 40inches wide...24inches depth...21inches height...5inch port it's in a grand marquis trunk probably half the reason it's actually pretty loud i think it's just really cold out
  21. I have a Kenwood KDC X996 and it gets super hot after about 10 minutes or more of playing at volume 25 or 26 out of like 35 like cook an egg hot. I wired it using just tape an made sure it's connected good. The ground is connected to factory wire..Could it be the ground, RCA's?? ..no aftermarket amp and using stock speakers
  22. I just put my sundown 1500d on my two xcon 15's an they sound alright kind of distorted almost?? but i have the gain like half way....hope it sounds better when i hook my alt an crescendo 3500 up. Prob cuz they aren't gettin near the amount of power they could be??
  23. I thought my Xcons were gonna take long like some of the people that are having problems but they actually got to me pretty fast..ordered Jan 10th an got them Feb 27th so the wait went fast for me plus i was building my box and ordering other things in the mean time but i still checked for updates everyday lol...an even then they were already 2 days into shipping before i even got an update. But that was my experience, THANK YOU!
