Vid of my 1500d on 2 type R 12's
2 days ago i replaced that old, OLD pioneer head unit with a clarion flip out(vrx765vd) but im unsure as to where i put my amp rca's, i mean it has like 4 pairs on the back of the head unit.....right now i have it on "non-fader output terminal" should it be on "rear audio output terminal"? it also has "front audio output terminal" which i didnt use for obvious reasons.......sorry for the newbish question....but this was my 1st reciever install!!!!! oh, and the box in the vid was a first too....got anxious so i didnt sand/paint/carpet anything but honestly i kinda like the "raw" look.....besides the glue smear lol also another question, if i may.......do you think internal bracing is needed? 3/4" mdf single baffle.......also i didnt do any 45's in the corners..... well anyway, thats my jumble....enjoy!

1500D problem
Hi everyone, been a loong time since i last posted, but here i am.....with my 1500D that likes to blow 80amp fuses at 2 ohms in my 98 jimmy. this problem happended months ago, but i just never really got around to fixing it.....running my mrd-m501 in the exact same setup without 1 problem. I tried emailing jacob a couple weeks ago about possibly sending it in to get looked at but i didnt hear back from him, so one day i said **** it and took it to an electronic repair shop who benched it and said "this thing has all kinds of problems, its pulling current like a mofo" or something along those lines.....said it almost blew his 15 amp breaker or something....i dunno...im not an electrician...buut i still havent heard back from him as im sure he was shut down for the holidays. now the amp worked perfect for like half a year...then one day just poof, blew a fuse on the highway...replaced it, power on the amp and it blows.....tried that like 3 or 4 times.....same thing.....swapped in the alpine and it works fine......no wiring issues, all 4awg, good ground, tons of ventilation......and this is the second 1500D thats done this to me......

my 2nd 1500D
mmkay, I'll send it in a couple weeks, just waiting to go back to work but before I send it in Ill giver one more shot just to make sure

my 2nd 1500D
I took a look at the wire at the fuse holder and it is indeed still copper color.....

my 2nd 1500D
dude, theres not going to be any fire, settle and im sure this amp dosent need 1/0 wire at 2 ohms......sure it will help a little, but not solve my problem. Wired up my alpine, put a new fuse in and it worked fine....mind you the wire terminals are for 8 gauge wire at 550 rms and it seems to drain just as much as the sundown......

my 2nd 1500D
Can do, I will take a look at a surplus store today....see if they have a cheap 1 after I put the alpine in.......I'll let you all know in a bit...
-
my 2nd 1500D
I think I may try out my mrd-m501 -if that works without problems we can rule in the saz, right? just easier to do
-
my 2nd 1500D
aaohh really.....I just called a local shop and the best they have is an 80 amp anl for $30 with the holder
-
my 2nd 1500D
It baffles me since it ran fine for almost a year.....not to mention its only running at 2 ohms with alpine 4 gauge wire.....I blasted test tones and ran it pretty hard many times without it even hitting protection or anything....barely even getting warm. When it blew this time I was listening to meatloaf not exactly bass heavy........ you all think an anl fuse will fix my problem? cause it'll probably cost a fair bit retail.....
-
my 2nd 1500D
its always the 80 amp inline fuse.....have never blown 1 at the amp.......I can try today with the rca's off......but what will that tell me?
-
my 2nd 1500D
yyyeeeeeaaa.im sure its my subs
-
my 2nd 1500D
Alright, not sure if jacob remembers but I bought a used 1500D off a guy named Rob E and it started blowing fuses everytime the amp would turn on...........and now, surprisingly im having the same problem. Amp ran just fine for almost a year then all of a sudden it just cut out during a song. I've been using gold plated 80 amp agu the whole time..... So anyway when I sent the 1st one in, I got a brand new unit back just hoping I can still send it in for repairs in a couple weeks as I dont have much extra cash for shipping at the moment. just to clear things up......amp was being ran at 2ohms to 2 old type r 12's sealed with 4 awg wire.....all connections were solid including the ground. I tried 2 more fuses and they both blew as soon as the amp tries to turn on.
