SUNDOWN/FI BEATIN

well yesterday we took about a 2.5 hour trip to columbia to an E2 audio MECA event. It was an awesome show sundown made a good showing once again. Pics will be up soon. Derek - 1st place S2 148.0 2nd place street install Corey - 1st place S1 with a 143.?? dont remember 1st place DB1 with a 122.8 1st place Show and shine PHAT CAR award needless to say corey brought home many more 1st places than i but oh well good showing!

dude been ther in that situation.. i just graduated from high school and am a freshmen in college.. i have owned a chitty dvd plyer before and spent $250 on a NICE cd player and you will get a much better sound.. maby even a better score on the meter and deffinately be better for the pre amps on your amps...

seriously cool build but that kenwood you had would soudn a billion times better than that jensen you bought...

sweet re cones.. yeah im in college now so i wont be home to do it... so i guess my awesome teammates will have to tend to them for me.. hehe.. also cant wait to get them in to show off a little up here at school...

YEP it was a fun show.. and as always sundown puts us on top !! i didnt change anything from the last show.. except turned it up. lol.. and went up .2 DB .. It was REALLLYY HOTT on that blacktop parking lot that day ...

i have owned an FI BL 18'' and 15'' ... memphis M3 ... and pretty much everything jl audio makes..

well i have two of the 12's .. stock not re coned yet.. i am running 2 1500s strapped at 1 ohm nominal.. i have extra batts and built up 140amp alt.. and yeah i think some of my recent threads speak for how much i like them "tearing my car appart" but yeah i even like the way they sound.. i am looking forward to reconing mine thoug and getting that longer coil especially since i am playing soo low.. 34hz and lower.

both i am tuned to 34hz with aero ports and that is also where it peaks at.. lol.. that is my daily aero ports.. we have done NO resonant tuning or anything on this car.. that is my daily street beat.. the ports are like 20'' long or something stupid like that..

well the only reason i peak at 34 hz is because thats what im tuned to.. lol.. we havent even done any resonant testing or anything to this car it just will do 148.5 with my daily long ports in these are over 20'' long.. as to the sun roof being weak.. its not the glass fault.. the bolts that keep it in track had come loose and were letting it jump like 4 inches no joke.. that what broke it was not the ammount of flex but all that jumping strait up and down.. and this car is an 01.. no warranty.. lol.. gettin used glass will be in mid next week $350

well as we were removing the sun roof or wts left of it we found that some of the mounting bolts were loose allowing it to more far too much.. the new one will get installed a little tighter

ok guys today we were testing.. on my first burb i did a 148.5 and my sun roof broke..

yeah i wish i could get it really good of the entire roof flexing about as hard as the trunk lid.. it deffinately turns heads when the volvo starts shaking apart.. lol

well team carlisle acoustics/ team sundown audio went to E town today and i believe we made a good showing. 1st palce STREET 2 - Derek "me" with a 147.7 @ 34hz SPL in my VOLVO 2nd place MOD 2 - Jeremy with a 149.9 1st place DRIVE BY 2 - Jeremy with a crushing 128.4 1st place DRIVE BY 1 - Corey with a 121.9 and i believe Seth was in 3rd place in AS1 cant remember his score We should have plenty of pics to post up as well.!!

dropping from 13.8 to 12.5 or what ever is fairly normal as long as you not dropping below 12 everything will be fine ur not gonna damnage anything... a better batt could reduce or eliminate your dimming if your not dropping below 12 already i have 3 batteries in the trunk of my car 2 of which are 85lb GEL cell batteries and i dont dimm at all running my 2 sundown 1500s at 1 ohm nominal .5ohm per amp... i also had to get the factory replacement 145 amp alt replacement on my car after a week the original 7 year old alt died but i have no problems at all now.

honestly get a sundown audio nighshade.. it will take that power with ease and be stupid loud.. i have 2 12s in my volvo right now and with my daily aero ports in tuned to about 34hz with no SPL tweaks or tuning at all and doing a 147.6 at 34hz.. so that would be a good option for you

i have owned a 15'' FI BL fully loaded for daily and loved it .. it was brutal took lots of power over a long period of time to just make it really loose... the HDC3 can get low one guy on our team is doing about 150 with two HDC3s at 30hz.. however it has been our discovery from recent run ins with the 10'' and 12'' HDC3 that they are not durable for daily.. the joint where the suspension meets the cone breaks after long periods of playing it just fatigues and gives out due to use of cheap suspension parts.. they are loud but not durable... personally and from experience FI makes a much more reliable / more durable woofer that sill gets very loud..i broke 145 in the trunk of a mazda 3 with a SAZ1500 on my 15'' Bl ...

yeah im pretty sure thats a throw away woofer unfortunately.. u can get re cones for solo X ..

i would say a havoc could get louder.. it depends on what your looking for... if you want SQ go JL if you want LSQ and not break you bank go ascendent.. i mean you could buy 2 15'' havocs for what 1 W7 costs they handle the same power and a W7 is stupid hard to mount... personally id go ascendent over JL having worked for a JL dealer and owned several of their products..

basically i use the rockford because i like the EQ and crossover options it gives me 32 band per speaker and 12 on the subwoofer and 60some crossover points.. or maby more cant remember... and i can use really crappy sounding cheap dvd players and still get good sound and full potential out of my amps... well here are some updated pics.. of batteries installed and wires cleaned up.. we build the box tonite and will be installing it tommrow nite and listening to it.. ill be sure to post up some vids.. and pics of the final product before tuning.. i also had to replace my alt so i got a rebuilt 140amp alt and no it was not easy to put on..

i have 2 12'' nightshades i will be isntalling with 2 1500s strapped at 1 ohm nominal.. i am running a single 15'' FI bl on them at 1 ohm nominal right now with an OEM replacement 140amp alt on my car and 1 DECA 1200ca battery and 2 group 31 gell batteries in the trunk and i hold awesome voltage..

the rockford is a signal processor... since i use a crappy head unit.. "in the last car used stock" i use this to flatten out the eq curves and tune it to my liking.. believe it or not i do like my stuff to sound good too.. and the 100.4 is powering fronts and rears.. also the rockford does make a good line driver... 5v.. and yes i flipped the sundown logo so it wouldnt be upside down.. also come monday i will have 2 new batterys.. and my 2 12'' nightshades..
