I think part of it is because they are pushing power up market on all their lines, and with the 335i's TT I-6, I think a V8 in the M3 was the logicial step for them, because usually in comparison tests, the M3 was only lacking in forward thrust compared to its competitors with V8s.

it was a straight 6, shouldn't have needed a longer nose for a V8. i'm thinking about a BlueTec C class and throwing the kit/rims on it.

I think my 55430 might have just stoped reading disks after all these years.

Well I feel the thing of the 8" sub is that is allows some people with little to near zero space to work with, to have a solid substage. What I was mentioning to Mike was that there is not much on the market in a good preforming mid priced 8". The SS RL-i8 is a very capable 8" sub, but it is out of reach $$$wise for many people or more than they want to spend.

So if the parameters are a low reaching soft dome tweet... do you guys feel the Seas 27TDF would be a good start?

From what I was told, BMW had to make changes to fit the V8 at least. And I know they have wanted a V8 in that thing for a while. Not to mention to soften the Bangle design a little and get it closer to 911 performance.

I really like that one ^^^. Maybe take off the last two words and enlarge the 5 and it would be SWEET!

Ok so I had some decent expectations for this sub, (and yes I know its way way too soon to make any judgement calls or opinions) but just for shiggles this morning on the way to work, I turned to the local baltimore hip hop station and they were playing Freak-a-leek by Peete Pablo. :o :o :o Let me say this, the out put of this sub (in a box too small and tuned far too low, 2.0 @27hz) is unreal, almost to the point of uncomfortable. And it is getting a little less than 1200 watts (did not have time to correctly set the gain in the dark of the night last night). I cant wait to try this beast at 1 ohm on the Orion. I am not the SPL pro, the output testing was loyds portion, my job is to discern if this monster can be listened to everyday under normal set ups.

I thought this would be interesting since different materials have been a hot topic recently. As in: Non-pressed paper, pressed paper, pulp, plastic, wood fiber, IMPP, carbon fiber, Aluminum, Titanium, woven fiber, poly, etc... which material would be the best to use in what application etc....

If I were to get T/S for the Mach5 SPL proto (which there are going to be a few changes to it before production) anyone want to hlpe design a fart monster box for me to run this thing in Street A in the explorer with the trusty Orion as power? Yes I know I will get beat by people with 2 10's, but I would like to see how far I can take a single 12.

That is the 12", I will be doing subject SQ listening tests starting tonight. It going to be screwy because I have had such a variety of different subs in my truck in the last month its not funny. Eclipse Aluminum, good sound fairly accurate, great output for a 10, Mach5 MJ-18, good clean finesse driver that onces broken in came alive. SSA proto, good DD sub, the more is breaks in the more brutal the output is Now this monster...

Have you given the subs time to fully break in?

In a 2.0 @ 27hz for now, might modify a 3.2 @ 33hz for this sub.
