  1. pix?
  2. GODDAMNIT you had a conversation about the Merkur XR4Ti with out me!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am the resident Merkur expert, anway, it was my first car I ever owned (saved my life in a really bad wreck in 1995) I later bought a silver one for a past girlfriend.. the 2.3 is a potent motor as previously mentioned, the iron block can take pretty much what ever you throw at it, (not sure but I believe it was sourced from the Pinto) I have seen via Merkur groups out on the west coast guys running upwards of 20 psi on the stock block, the body is very rigid from what I remember and with a little under chassis cross supports I can imagine it to be M3 stiff, not to mention that it was naturally, because of its design and RWD and usage of Aluminum in the chassis, it was a very good handeling rig, with small adjustments they could be better than my current sled (heavy SOB) they did have a fair amount of electrical problems, and many customers ditched their cars early because they felt the turbo went up when the entire time it was only the pressure release valve which was faulty from the factory, they are a great car for SPL due to the massive hatch area and expansive rear glass, making it easy to drop in something of retarted dimensions, I know that the autos were a little on the weak side, not to mention that the autos were only 3 speeds, yes thats right 3 speeds, (I believe that was changed in the 88's and 89's but not positive, along with the dula wing being dropped for a single less noticable single) the little problems were sorta worked out by the last two years of the model's run here in the USA, (it carried on as the Ford Serria in europe) but at that point Ford had felt they had sunk enough money into the project and were not seeing enough returns on it, they should have never sold it at the Lincolin Mercury dealerships, and they should have pushed the "sporting" aspect of the Merkur line (only two cars being brought, the other being a 4 door sedan with an anemic V6) I mean damn this was the second coming of the attempt that Ford had for a European designed coupe and sedan, (an idea a decade ahead of its time) I am not saying its the second comming of the Detamaso Pantera (that being Italian inspired) just for the Regan years and gas crisis age, but it was the second attempt and I think they failed in the marketing and sales miserablly, if you need performance parts for the car, Rapido Group is the place to go, they carry everything, with the Intercooler kit, Borla dual Exhaust, Tokico shocks, HI Flo Head, turbo timer etc. that car (which can be found for about 2k in decent shape) could have a damn good chance of running down much newer cars, If you remember back to a slightly less known car, the XR4Ti's direct competition was Chrysler's Conquest, a Mitsubishi rebadge, it was also a 4 pot turbo doing in the 175-188hp range, but it was much heavier than the Merkur and sold even less copies, I have always wanted to buy another Black Merkur XR4ti and make a track car out of it, for the money and potential it is really hard to beat.
  3. hey Mike, I can't remember if you had stated what the final version of the cone will look like? will it be teh sexies like the new or the original RL-p's {side note, I seriously changed my order last night when I ordered chineese for Amanda and I, I decided to get the combo for 2, anyway to get to the point I thought if I keep ordering the Large Chicken Lo Mein I am never going to be able to fork it up for the LMT, $3.75 went towards the RL-s fund last night}
  4. on SD someone is selling a single if not a pair of 4hp 18's, those have got to be out of this world

I would venture to say that in a decent size ported with about 1k watts to mess with, a pair should get nasty for their size
  6. hammer has the trigger finger too, just on paypal
  7. I am just wondering a little about amplifers and competition...... this makes me think because the wattage output of amplifers on the normal consumer market, is growing exponentially fast, for example a few years ago the Earthquake D2 was one of only a few amplifers that could be had for a not so bad price and was doing well over 2000 watts.... I am curious more about this in the purpose of street classes where 12volts and only one battery is allowed now Orion, Kicker, Hifonics, MMATS, PowerBass, American Bass, SPL Dynamics, Harrison Labs, Tru Technologies, Phoenix Gold, Zapco, Cadence, Rockford Fosgate, US Amps (the list goes way on) all make or sell a amplifer model that meets or exceeds 2500 watts with ease..... how can we find out at what point will larger and larger amplifers show no more benifit in wattage or sound pressure off of these limited supply electrical systems? (even with the big three and some monster G31 battery)
  8. lol---that is an understatement I was trying to spark a big post out of you
  9. I don't think that Ford had done any design changes or adjustments to the 850
  10. you goign to strap the 10k amp?
  11. looks good, but hard to see details
  12. looking good, I have less clearance that you

he will not be disappointed, with a truck that size I would run an RL-p 15 or a pair of 12's

they are very new to market, Kent was the first customer to test them out, I hope to try one in SS or TL
  15. have a screen in my car, I don't need it, the fun wears out fast, and the cost/performance is not that good overall
  16. you are on the right track, all of the guys on here so far have proven to be legit buyers
  17. talk to Dave Edwards on here, he knows a few things about the Ampman amplifers
  18. hey hammer, are you going to use the overdrive? and if not what color and would you be willing to part with it at a nice price?
  19. then look into MMATS SQ series, very small in size
  20. An Orion 8004 would be sweet
  21. since you might be dealing with a small space, why not run a Kicker KX 550.3, it will push the components and sub very nice in just one chassis, {waiting for someone to yell GO ACTIVE} and I believe HCCAfan has a fwe sets of Orion "P" components left at good prices
  22. is it sad that I have read every post in this topic from day one? anyway sticker money just left for CANADA, $.80 postage , I am praying to hear back about a seriously sweet job, if I do I will be ordering up a storm, wanting to run two MAG D2's and a pair of Orion 2500D's, but it might not work out, run them daily at 4ohms, then burp at 1,
  23. humm, come to think about it, dual RL-i 10's in a massive TL would be pretty sweet for HT
  24. x2 i have heard good things about the FQs as well. I listen to them every morning on my way to work
  25. you can find the A/D/S 3way on ebay for cheap, excellent set, also the RF Fanatic Q 3way's were nice the last time I heard them
