  1. pic #6 is the best
  2. I like the parallel to the air tanks idea
  3. Nick I know you saw that loading wall in the Pioneer truck from Nationals last year, you think that it would have any advantage in smaller classes? and can I ask how does the dampening factor affect the amp effect the impedance? (I understand it deals with control of the driver, hence the reason I want Zapco amps so bad,)
  4. what are you trying to say about the l7? taht they made it for a sealed enclosure? becaus emy buddy had 3 - 12" l7s in a ported box and it hit real hard ... plus I really dont think that the l7 has enough power, i think the solo x was a huge and AWESOME hit to the audio world ... have you heard about the mtx jackhammer? I am not saying its made for sealed, but that I read from someone who is very knowledgeable about woofers said it, and don't worry I know very well what L7s do ported, I have helped on a fwe installs and listened to countless more, who do you think has been rocking the "Crazy 8's" class? L7's Alma Gates was putting up scary high numbers with L7 10's, Street C was won with L7s recently, not to mention Randy's 24 L7's in a FOCUS, yes you read that right, I got to sit in it plenty of times, those 8's are now replaced with a single soloX 18, I believe he is working on passing the 150 mark on the new mic, I have seen a decent amount of info about the MTX, to me it came off like a markeing stunt to show that they could build it, unless you are sponsered by them it will not be used in normal installs
  5. the LMT in the OC, hey Im down with OPP, :datsphatyo: but seriously, having the LMT at the west coast meet would be awesome, it could be a first, almost like an invite only premier for a sub, we could use it also as a publicity pull for the Team too, "TeamSSAudio.com meet and LMT debut!", someone get on it STAT!
  6. I personalyl don't think the HiFonics is needed, more than enough power, if I had the loot I would put a SX 900.2 on mine, or maybe a Reference 750, or Orion 8002 all three more than enough power with out risking the integrity of the sub
  7. ok hold the phone, chinny, I know your getting a lot of different responces and ideas, listen to Mike, you don't need that much power on them and to be honest your really not going to hear that much of a difference under normal daily listening levels, unless you enjoy driving around with your roof rippiling, if you want to stay Orion, and woudl prefer to go through HCCAfan, great seller, I have picked up a lot of equipment through him, then look at the Orion 1200D, the 1200D will do close to 1400 watts as long as your feeding it clean power, fairly efficent amp that has great potential if nto look at the KX 1200.1 from kicker, another excellent choice for your possible set up, either way they are going to both provide more than enough power for your needs, when you get up much farther than that (power wise) you really are only going to notice a difference on the meter, Cadence A7HC is also a very capable amp for your application, small footprint too, but anyway I would choose the Orion first, through HCCAfan it is hard to beat for quality power and features, oh yeah a warrenty too
  8. there are some more smilies I can upload, if you guys have any I can put them up on the server, Mike I know you have a ton that are sourced from the SoundSplinter site, if you want I can put them up here to make it easier, to chime in, I asked mike a question yesterday, and within 90 minutes I had recieved a quick reply, RL-p BABY
  9. the few I have been around, move a ton of air, and in a violent manner, I have not heard one in a solid daily install, but for daily I feel the L7 is more than enough, on a side note, recently Grand Master on SD wrote that most of the L7 line was built to be optimized in a sealed enclosure, can anyone confirm that?
  10. I heard he eats is own farts
  11. email me at [email protected] and I'll send you an info sheet with pics. ygm
  12. a pair of Atlas 15's for home audio use would be very nice
  13. glad ya found us
  14. that is true, appearance being a factor sometimes, the RL-p wins, not to mention, if you ask him nicely Mike will sign it for ya
  15. its a box warbleed was kind enough to help me design a few years ago, I checked the specs and I can still build it and use my old MTX's in it if I do it right
  16. I have to port the RL-p, but the RL-i 8 could go ported or sealed with great success
  17. any pictures of the Q series amplifers?
  18. You'd probably want to go with about 1cf per driver tuned around 35hz. I'll figure the box up as common chamber. The port is a 2x12 slot, 16 inches long. This occupies about 0.25cf counting the MDF used for one of the port walls (we'll have the port against one side of the box, and between the top and bottom, so only one port wall has to be constructed). So, we're going to want a total of about 2.5cf before woofer and port displacement. Our external dimensions will be 13.5H x 33W x 19.5D. So internally, the dimensions for the woofer are 12H x 28W x 18D. This is because the port and port wall take up 3.5" on one side. On the other side we have the other wall of the box. We're assuming 3/4" MDF. To make the box, you would want the following pieces of wood: TOP and BOTTOM: 33 x 18" (so 2 pieces like this) SIDE 1: (non port side) 12 x 18 (mounted between front and rear baffle) SIDE 2: (port side) 12 x 18.75 (slightly longer because this side will act as other side of port wall, and must be flush with front baffle, but still in front of rear baffle) FRONT: 29.5 x 12 (sits in front of sides and between the top and bottom, port goes next to it) REAR: 33 x 13.5 (Just as high and wide as the box, cannot see any other piece but the rear from the rear view) PORT: 15.25 x 12 (Sits BEHIND the edge of front baffle, so they are flush and to make total length 16")
  19. is there someone that could check it out that has the tools to fix it?
