  1. it's probably because of the angle the shot was taken at. plus if you notice in the third "After" pic look at the cars shadow, the sun is playing a role in making it seem like it seem like the passenger sides lighter. edit: oh yeah, and the smoked tails look really nice, question: are they film tinted or spray tinted? i got a quote to spray tint my tails and was considering it but would leave me w/o a drivable vehicle for like 2 weeks. they told me they were painted. But after reading up on it after i had them done i found it that it is a fairly cheap and easy job to do on your own. I paid 160 to get mine done. I read online that u can buy a can of clear coat black paint from an autoshop for 20 bucks take off ur taillights and just do it. Heres a tutorial that i read on a site. http://www.explorerx.com/guides/smoking-taillights.html one of my concers about doing the tailights myself is actualy messing them up. plus from what it looks like you lose the glossy effect that the tai lights give being they are plastic and all. if you notice in this pic of the DIY tail you can see the texture of the paint. the one place i would send my tailights to if i did decide to get them tinted is to http://www.jonstintedtails.com/ i got a quote from him for my 4 peice tail lights for only $115 shipped both ways.
  2. it is fine to run a mixture of brands. just don't run a mixture of speakers and sizes. by speakers i mean like having 1 Kicker 12 and an MTX 12 hooked up at the same time(yes I'm aware of you going for a single sub setup). it is fine to run a mixture of speakers for instance of 2 12 MTX, some kicker 6.5 comps with some pioneer head unit. since you are going with a single sub you could use the mono amp(though most users on the forum would disagree with the brand of amp you stated). just be sure you can get a matched power rating for the subs wiring configurations. just because an amp says 900W doesn't mean it does 900W. as for the sub enclosure if you have the time, patience, and the will to build a box to fit for your car is very possible and not hard to do, plus it can be quite cheaper and a great learning experience. for the amount of power you are looking at you do not really need a new battery, though a little wiring upgrade considered as the "Big 3" will help a lot if you do see dimming in your lights. oh and welcome to the forums!

  4. is this a trunk car or a hatch/suv car? most people find that subs up port to the rear is the better way to go for more output. you could just build a wall
  5. how many other installs have you heard other than the blaupunkt 1400 on the Oz matrix? the power ratings on that blaupunkt are quite low, though that really has nothing to do with it, it's just that it's not quite a quality product and you won't be getting much out of it. here is one thing i learned and say this to a lot of people when they begin. You get what you pay for. it is understanable that you are on a budget. we have all been there and most of us have bought chitty ass equipment cause we were sooo stingy that it all burned out within a month, but if you look at quality over price then your going to end up with better results. the recommendations given so far are equipment that i too would recommend. also as Jim stated about getting some deadener when possible because civics rattle a lot. i recently put 2 10 Fi X's in my friends 98 civic coupe in a bandass enclosure and there is quite a lot of panel rattle. though aside from the rattle he stepped up from 2 old 10" kenwoods to his Fi X's and couldn't be any happier with the amount of bass he is getting. as for an EQ you should be fine with the Eq off the H.U.
  6. which ever route you go, your still going into the right direction.
  7. nice future set-up, are you going with the 15's sealed or ported? be sure to at least try to get a second battery and run the Big 3 on your electrical. those PCA2D's are power hungry. or well mine was. also there is a little fan inside the amp that well to me annoyed the hell out of me, even with the amp in the trunk i could hear the hum of the fan running when no music is playing, even when i'd turn off the car i could hear the hum of it fading as it turned off. i have very large internal pics of the amp if you'd like to see. EDIT: i forgot to mention, i noticed the one you chose is on ebay, if you DO get it from ebay DO get the side warrenty that is offered for the price. since the amp is sold on ebay and not a dealer the factory 1-2yrs warranty is voided. thankfully when i bought mine i purchased the 3yr warranty from the side company and when my amp went poop, i sent it to them, and within 1 month i already had my refunded check in the mail.
  8. So weird.. i just watched that movie a few hours ago.. It was ok.. not as great as the dicksode but still pretty good. oh and congrats on the new amp! yeah the movie was ok but hell what can you expect from a show that's only 15 minutes and dragged into about 2hrs? i've seen it before it just came in netflix and i had nothing to do so i decided to watch it again. either way, i forgot to mention and have been thinking about this but just wanted to say how great Sundown amps are. on my recent road trip i drove 7hrs from key west to Sarasota straight, then about another 14hrs on top of the 7hrs from broken trips around FL, about 90% of the trip my stereo was on and ran hard. not once did my amp ever cut out. in fact, from the entire time line of owning the saz-1500d it has never been in protection. so i just wanted to take a moment to tell people how well built these amps are. you guys need a Satisfaction Guaranteed seal on the box! i kind of want to strap both amps onto the single XXX right now just to play around with. try to get a clean 2k onto the sub. it's a thought
  9. got my second amp today. woohoo! i took out he current amp pushing the XXX and will be running this one in the mean time in case if any problems come up while in warranty. since my next set-up will not take place till Feb-March it's better to test now then later.. anyways thanks much for the amp. it looks great and works just fine! now all i need is a new alt and tons of tons of sound deadener. off to watch ATHF movie and have some yellow rice and black beans.. woot!

pretty sure you can, just email scott.
  11. nice score and congrats! now burp that chit and show results!
  12. yes, but upgrade your electrical wiring(big 3) and if possible a second battery would help stablize your electrical for 2k.
  13. i owned a pca2000D but had mine short out and send a nasty DC signal to my sub. which happened maybe 3-4 months after i bought it. it was running my XXX15 and pounded it to hell with ease but to me seemed a little power hungry. this vid i took running the pca2000d imo it's a good budget amp and should work well in your application.
  14. very very nice. i did not notice but did you just recently get the 40.1s? iirc you were running usamps no? should be interesting to see it's capabilities.
  15. staying out at new college for the night at a friends then seeing a show up in orlando on friday night. then staying another night. i don't know much of any up here in the mainland of FL so :/
  16. nice little sub here. these were ordered for a friend of mine to replace some old old old kenwoods in a pre-fab bandpass box. i don't know how well they would do in them but i'm sure it would be pretty good. here are a few pics. i won't be able to give a review till monday or tuesday as i'm going up to sarasota tonight, then orlando tomorrow, then miami on sat, then back home. so yeah. thanks Fi.
  17. reconing is easy as nuts. it's kind of fun too! i used maybe 4 sheets of paper as a shim for my SX. also i used wooden clothes hanger clips all around the sub to clamp it down as it dried. give a good amount of cure time then wang away.
  18. just wanting to know if you guys can or know if another company can. thanks!
  19. i wonder how the performance of that version of the XXX mids are compared to the older XXX mids. has anyone done a comparison of the 2? would be interesting to know.
  20. the jackhammer?? no way! my home boy has one sitting in the front seat of his Jeep wrangler hooked up to 8 Legacy 4000W amps. his system slams sooo hard it don't need a box! it's just sitting there strapped in the seat belt!! WOWZERZ!
  21. what is this XBL^2 speaker you speak of? who makes them? how much are they? can they handle 4000watts?
  22. have you emailed scott at [email protected] ? just email him direct asking for billing information for a drop in recone kit for the MK2 brahma with an 18" basket. he'll most likely email you telling you it'll cost so and so and send payment thru paypal and to write in the comments box the contents of the purchase, I.E. Recone kit for AA Brahma MK2 18 Dual 2ohm coils with 18" basket and gasket. if you email him today you should most likely receive an email within 2 days, hence them being a little backed up and all.
  23. call your ISP. they should be there on sundays. i've called mine and linksys on sundays no problem.
  24. i'll give ya 50 bucks for them? oh and you have them upside down btw. not that it really matters
